tony gale's mic Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 do bears sh1t in the woods? I just want a final confirmation, I've staked a lot on him and thought I'd lost it all when City came in - would have been the worst of both worlds. Now prices are looking great for him now and want to put more on...but will Roman still be happy appointing someone like Sparky? It seems he's considering every other alternative possible.
tony gale's mic Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 They do, but don't bet on anything right now. Okay I'll hold fire...but what did you mean when you said there was only one way this was going then?
John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Article below makes me sick. Manchester City land Hughes and Shinawatra plans £200,000-a-week deal for Ronaldinho
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 not to drift from the hughes topic, but the official board is just full of kids and geeks which includes a certain person on here who for some reason people seem to think is some sort of god, when in fact he is just a knob
ftry Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 the '£200,000-a-week' headline shows how much truth is in that.

Rumour has it Ancelotti said he is staying at Milan
Guest fernhurstblue Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 only did that to prove my point about not being god!! ha ha ...... its been a long day.
1864roverite Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 chelsea and united have unrivalled power in the transfer market, even frank cannot compete. Both teams have set in place team and squad ethics that City could only dream about. Arsenal have the correct football ethics and in Wenger the complete manager. he has youth on his books that the others could only dream about. Has plenty of spending power and with the money coming into the Emirates can spend big if required. Liverpool, once they sort out the feuding yanks will see fit to spend as much as it takes to ensure top 4 status is guaranteed. Not one of these clubs will see City challenge them. if any club is to challenge for top 4 status then it will be Spurs and Spurs alone. They have the bankrolling to compete, the manager to ensure football is played on the park and the footballing know how to see them through the challenges. Just look at the players they are signing and being linked with. Shoudl City ever manage to get Ronnie, I cannot see him having the effect that he has in Spain, he simply wont have the time/space to perform. he will go into his shell, spend his long lonely wet nights in Rusholme takeaways, get food poisoning and foot and mouth and be on the first plane to Italy where decent women receive decent money to perform. I just cant see him taking to Salfords finest

Tom 1 Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 He doesn't need to take them to the dizzy heights to better what he did with Blackburn, that's my only point, I'm not concerned about City and I'm a Villa fan, I said we'd get ahead of them all through last season and we did and we will do that again. I'm not so sure about Spurs either.
The1mattjansen Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Is it just me who's completely bemused by Betfair's profit and loss calculator??? The figuires they are showing for my position in the market appear to be complete rubbish and i can't think for a minute were they have come from. Could anyone shed some light on this?
1864roverite Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Tom get a reality check my friend. Villa are losing their captain in Barry, they aint got a ready made replacement nor do they have the abiity it seems to attract a suitable player for his position. Spurs on the other hand have Modric already bagged. They are spending big and have calss forwards already. Ramos will get them playing bloody good football. Believe it they will be a threat to Liverpools coveted 4th spot.
John Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Its true Tom, you are just like the rest of us (cannot keep onto your best player). Villa and clubs like Man City especially are clubs living on their past! Mind you, I could not see Martin O Neil leaving Villa for City.......

Believe it they will be a threat to Liverpools coveted 4th spot. Why on earth would I need a reality check. I didn't say I wasn't worried about Spurs, just that I am not so sure they'll break the top four. I'm well aware of our situation thanks very much, a lot more than you. Good luck with your manager search. Mind you, I could not see Martin O Neil leaving Villa for City.... That's because he wouldn't leave us for a club no better...plus he hates interference from chairmen. I doubt him and the Thai would get on....plus I doubt the thai would like his transfer policy...along the lines of...sign not nearly enough players and leave us without a right side.
iamarover Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 If you get money in the kitty - this £5 million that someone mentioned - then take it and move on. Ah too modest. The £5m you mentioned on this thread days ago was bandied around the Guardian, Times, Indy and others effectively painting City into a corner. If the figure you suggested and then became Gospel has indeed become the compo figure settled by JW then I suggest the Rovers CEO at least owes you a large lunch. 40% up on the Souness comp is a right result. Order richly and do not spare the wine list.
Presty On Tour Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 things are on the up, ssn reports jewel wouldn't join us and wants to concentrate on derby. thank (Please don't use that word again) for that!
laughatthedingles Posted June 3, 2008 Author Posted June 3, 2008 A lot of people have mentioned the backroom staff. And while it's always sad to lose a youngster, we have plenty of highly rated young keepers; Nielsen, Fielding and Bussman. Maybe Hitchcock's son will be the one that turns out the best, maybe he won't. FWIW it's not certain he'd move either, especially considering that they wouldn't need to move houses. Not all academy players follow their parents. Firstly, my point was really about Tom Hitchcock, Secondly he's a striker, thirdly we wont keep him if sparky goes chelsea!
