iamarover, that was a truly great post. While I disagree with a few things, the bulk of that post was just fantastic. As someone before had mentioned, it should be required reading for this board and as someone else said, it should be hung in the BRFC dressing room.

Also, Shearer would be a horrible appointment in my opinion. It would be a King Kev syndrome type thing and might possibly have a worst outcome then Keegan's did. I am interested in finding out more on Mr. Nixon's B candidate though, or in hearing a definite short list.

Surprisingly, after the initial 12 hours of shock/misery, I am over MH leaving, and am strictly looking forward to seeing how this whole ordeal with conclude.

Can't believe nobody said that...maybe it was too obvious?

You know Nicko, you really should try and get some of these papers to run some of your stories and stop other stealing them

Shearer would be a complete disaster! The man has no manager experience what so ever, we might as well appoint Ashley Ward or Kevin Gallagher.

This sexy name? What foreign bosses have slightly rude names? <_<

...I wouldn't want Shearer Paul!

Neither would I.

And the Ronaldo 'twist' for Man U lovers.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...nronaldo204.xml

The Independent are running a story saying why selling Ronaldo would be a good thing and listing the players they could buy with the dosh- Berbatov and Bentley.

So obviously the red hordes are being softened up and no mention of the fact that without the Glazers there would be no need to sell to buy.

Selling Ronaldo pays the interest bill for 8 months.

Much as I like Sparky I shall smile quietly if City fail to meet the target. Not because I feel bitter towards Hughes but because it will demonstrate you can't buy success.

Eh ? Daft post.

The permanent presence of the same 4 clubs at the top of the Premier League demonstrates that money clearly does buy success.

And let's be honest, a considerable amount of dosh was spent winning the championship in 1995.

Re: Shearer. He's more from the Hansen school of punditry, than a cheerleader.

Quite dour and not afraid to criticise. I've been reasonably impressed, albeit that the level of football punditry in this country starts from a very low base.

I think the vast majority of Rovers' fans would love to Shearer back at the club, so not sure the opinion is that split.

The opinion on this messaageboard might be split but the majority of fans would love Shearer to be manager. So he has no experience, he will learn, it’s not just about the manager it’s the whole coaching team that matters, he would get experienced coaches to work with him.

He would inspire the players and the fans. The guy is a born leader, well respected, he would be perfect for us.

No Jim, Paul's pretty much correct.

It's the man, plus the money.

Without Dalglish, Jack's millions wouldn't have 'bought' him the title. Look what followed after 1995.

Same with Fergie, Jose, Wenger.

Now Hughes has loads of money, it's up to him and his talent. No excuses.

I am very excited about the possibility of Shearer returning as manager. He would put bums on seats and i remember NUFC stepping up a gear a few seasons ago when he became assistant manager alongside glenn roeder. I do think he needs an experienced right hand man - possiblt Chris Coleman or Newell. But it is a step in the right direction.

Just spotted this:

Torres added: "The central defenders (in the Premier League) are usually big, strong, aggressive lads.

"I guess it is probably because of these characteristics that the majority think they can solve problems by getting tough with me.

"But the truth is most of them lack defensive positioning as a result of their reliance on strength and aggression and leave so much space for you to take advantage of."

Oh my god, heaven forbid they figure out that inside turn he does next season when inside the box. Should have kept his mouth shut me thinks.

I fancy Michael Laudrup as manager, or an Ince/Shearer partnership. Any chance of getting Roberto Martinez Nicko?

Also any truth in Brad rumour he wouldn't leave us would he?

Villa after Brad Talk about vultures circling mad.gif

which fool came up with this, he turned down Man Utd before the got VDS so i doubt he'd join Villa. Silly very silly.

also on a note of poor journalism, BBC reported MGP was one of M Hughes best buys, well thats funny cos im sure it was Souness who brought him here

I just text 118 118 "ask us anything" and they could not tell me who the next manager will be! Useless.

Also, anybody hear on SSN last night when reading emails out and somebody said a Shearer and Stan Ternant partnership would be perfect. What???????

He's either parroting what he hears in training (therefore a good listener), or the guy is a very shrewd reader of the game.

How many homegrown players would a. have the nous to try their luck abroad, b. adapt so quickly and c. flourish in such a hostile environment like this lad has?

I have to say, Candidate B has got me stumped, the only other name I can think of is Santini, thats if he has not already been mentioned.

Can't think of any former players that it could be, only Zola.

After the last few days, I really need to get some work done, instead of pressing F5 here, so I don't think I will be able to look around for answers. I think I have done about 2 hours work all week, don't tell the boss :D

Excellent News if the club are to contact Shearer to find out if he is interested.

I can't see Brad or Nelsen leaving, they're loyal to the club not just Hughes.

For Warnock to speak to the press whilst Hughes was technically still the boss suggests we won't keep him, but thats far from the end of the world, there are a couple of left backs out there we could recruit.

Roque is a worry.
