nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Come on Rev, Ince wasnt in Switzerland yesterday covereing the Euro 2008 was he ? Betting is suspended on Rovers new manager someone has had the job handed to them formerly out there with a red herring thrown to put people off the scent thats probably why nicko suspects its a wind up so he wont mention the name. I think its good work by JW in throwing a decoy but its must now be a straight fight between big Sam and Maclaren. As the club could lose a lot of support in appointing big Sam, my moneys on Maclaren, he is out there in Switzerland isnt he? There is no red herring. John Williams ADMITS he went to Switzerland on TUESDAY. McClaren met the club on MONDAY.

leftfooter Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Gerald Houlier? Not a Euro manager, but would be in Switzerland. I recall Nicko predicting his demise friom Liverpool, much to the chagrin of many a Mickey Mouser.
RevidgeBlue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 I might be completely wrong in this guess but I could imagine Rob Coar favouring an English candidate. He must have been mighty brassed off with the last two then, a Scotsman and a Welshman. Oooh Philip, you are a card. But don't ever stop hypothesising wildly will you?
dellinsert Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 BFS - Decent record, not the fans favourite. Could do a pretty decent job without exciting the crowds. McBrolly - We will become the most hated team in England. Ince - interesting one, could do very well - could just as easy get us relegated. So basically, what we are saying is that we're left with one of those three because someone in power couldn't be bothered getting their hands dirty...
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 And they won't lose support with McClaren. he has NO supporters on here whereas Allardyce can summon some McClaren would pull off a master stroke by having two ex-Rovers faces in his staff. That would stop any booing...although I think fans are so fickle that they would back him. To be fair he recruited Southgate and Cooper while at Middlesbrough and that helped give the club a 'boot room' succession. OK, he's not ideal in some ways - the baggage will take a time to dump. But if he has the wit to have a Rovers sidekick or two that COULD work.
Scotty Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 There is no red herring. John Williams ADMITS he went to Switzerland on TUESDAY. McClaren met the club on MONDAY. When did Ten Cate meet the club Nicko?

I recall Nicko predicting his demise friom Liverpool, much to the chagrin of many a Mickey Mouser. I actually like Gerard, but he is getting on a bit and can be a power freak when he is in charge. He's a nice enough chap, but you would only take him with a young and fiery apprentice.

Blue n White Rover Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Bloody hell, When JW said we'll get the new manager by the end of the week I was excited and thought the Hughes departure would be good for the club as it would mean new options for the club and the news of a possible takeover it all looked quite promising. However, as each day has been past it just gets worse and worse for Rovers. I just want the board name a bleedin manager so us fans can get behind him and look forward to our possible transfer targets.
JAL Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 There is no red herring. John Williams ADMITS he went to Switzerland on TUESDAY. McClaren met the club on MONDAY. Come on then Alan spill the beans, surely you know more, is somebody mulling over the contract.
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 When did Ten Cate meet the club Nicko? Keep up. Check the earlier posts. If you don't believe me contact John Williams and Henk Ten Cate to verify the level of contact between them. What do you mean 'you don't have their numbers'?
bob fleming Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 But if he has the wit to have a Rovers sidekick or two that COULD work. Newell and Faz?
AggyBlue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That would stop any booing...although I think fans are so fickle that they would back him. We'll back whoever it is
RevidgeBlue Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 There is no red herring. John Williams ADMITS he went to Switzerland on TUESDAY. McClaren met the club on MONDAY. From the bookmakers point of view, Ladbrokes had suspended betting all day yesterday so they maybe had suspicions something is/was afoot.
Sysagent Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 But if he has the wit to have a Rovers sidekick or two that COULD work. Unfortunately Nicko I don't think he has though...
philipl Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Blimey gordon, you're as anti-Ince as the facebookers were Allardyce! Well at least we have a very happy RevidgeBlue to look forwards to! There are some seismic shifts going on in football at the moment. AC have admitted that they don't have the cash to bid for megastars being released by Barca but can probably hang onto Kaka as Kenyon doesn't have the same chutzpah to do what Real are doing to the Mancs. Ronadinho could well go to LA Galaxy (for the cakes). Thaksin looking like he will be empty handed when it comes to mega-names. Odds on him giving the £65m to Sparky to spend? About nil. Real going straight to the Glazers with their Ronaldo bid could not be more dangerous or provocative for the Mancs. I think Real are going for an OT destruction strategy.
nicko Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Come on then Alan spill the beans, surely you know more, is somebody mulling over the contract. They might have approached somebody today - I've not got that info yet. Let things happen first to give me a chance to find out about them later. Mind you, Ince is due to be in Aberystwyth while Big Sam and McClaren are waiting by their phones.
Earlydoors Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So it must be a manager who is a pundit There's only one David Pleat....sweet Jesus
greggyk Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 May aswell give Newell the job!! Everyone seemed more happy about his coming than Shearer... He did an amazing job at Luton untill the club, behind his back sold literally the whole team.
2PAC 4 Blackburn Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Keep up. Check the earlier posts. If you don't believe me contact John Williams and Henk Ten Cate to verify the level of contact between them. What do you mean 'you don't have their numbers'? They will only tell you what they want to know though. After Ten Cate has verbally agreed to the Greeks he's hardly going to admit on the phone to some guy he's never heard of that he's having a meeting with another club about a managers role. And i can't see JW admitting it either. Common sense.....

And i can't see JW admitting it either. Common sense..... Exactly. Apply it. Ten Cate put in for the job, got an interview date and the club - the club to repeat - decided not to take on that battle. Ten Cate also has to answer for that, so I am not blaming anyone specifically. However if some agents I could think of had been in charge of the operation Ten Cate would be in the dug-out at Ewood being photographed right now. Sadly, that was not the case.
b12_simon Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 So it must be a manager who is a pundit There's only one David Pleat....sweet Jesus Thanks for dropping by Mr Pleat. Leave your CV on the floor on your way out.

You say Williams was in Switzerland on tuesday, can you confirm if Steve Maclaren was in Switzerland on Tuesday aswell. Cheers nicko.
