Plastic Head Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 LET says Rovers have spoken to Shearer and Sam.... LET - Shearer and Sam As far as Martin Samuels is concerned (see philipl above)...I have very little respect for so called journalists following football live as they simply concentrate on easy subjects like personalities, but at least Samuels noticed that Ferguson got "turned over" with our tactics at Ewood last season.

b12_simon Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Blackburn link flattering - Ince (BBC) Ince is not my no 1 but I'd be very happy if he does get the job.
Ben-2000 Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Blackburn link flattering - Ince (BBC) Ince is not my no 1 but I'd be very happy if he does get the job. and here
philipl Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Confirmed on theBBC web site: "I got a call from the Blackburn chief executive John Williams and he asked me if I wanted to be on the shortlist to be the new manager, but I said no because of other commitments I've got, namely my BBC work and other things. It's not the right time for me." BBC Sport pundit Alan Shearer So no Mary Poppins.
philipl Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 Shearer's no seems to have caught most of the press unprepared unlike the Express which had suggested it would happen 24 hours earlier. Times says its open and BFS is making not selling anybody a precondition The Guardian had still completely missed what had happened when I went to bed last night and carry this mush of inaccuracies (Shearer is at last stage of UEFA licence; he hasn't got it yet) saying Allardyce is favourite and Rovers need the cash from RSC and Bentley sales. More muddled garbage from the Guardian trying to fly the black flag for Ince Independent is more measured suggesting Rovers have a choice between the untried and unpopular. Also makes the point that for us to talk to Ince, we need to ask MK Dons which has not happened and could be a major hurdle to conducting an exploratory interview. Only Advocaat of the non-British managers is getting a mention.
philipl Posted June 12, 2008 Posted June 12, 2008 McClaren encourages Barry to move to Liverpool- another good reason for hating the Wally with a Brolly! Swansea fans on the Martinez link Nico fills Mirror readers in on what's going on.
philipl Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Rovers to interview Allardtce and others- Guardian Telegraph- Ince and Allardyce head the field but Ten Cate has put off Panathanaikos to wait for Rovers
daveoftherovers Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/g...ers/default.stm Roberto Martinez has emerged as a shock contender for the vacant managers job at Blackburn Rovers. (Daily Star) Sam Allardyce will have an interview for the Blackburn Rovers job on Thursday. (Daily Mirror)
AggyBlue Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Rovers to interview Allardtce and others- Guardian Ince - "Blackburn are a great club, great traditions, a lovely family club. It is absolutely a fantastic club." See, he didn't mean what he said when he was at Inter
roversmum Posted June 13, 2008 Posted June 13, 2008 Daily Mail says Ten Cate and Ince are favourites despite Allardyce interview
philipl Posted June 14, 2008 Posted June 14, 2008 Nothing Seen on the four "qualities" web sites this morning. Interview with UNICEF Ambassador Slaven Bilic in the Independent- no direct mention of Rovers but the guy is obviously happy to keep his profile high in the British media. Incidentally, the HTC to Panathanaikos story is scarcely touched with just the odd agency-credited brief news snippets. The BBC gossip has this: Paul Ince will be confirmed as new Blackburn manager within the next few days. (Daily Mirror)

philipl Posted June 15, 2008 Posted June 15, 2008 Right now, there are no new Rovers manager stories on the net. One just added- Martinez has ruled himself out.
philipl Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Its all Bentley of course but runners get mentioned. Guardian assume Bentley will go for £12m, Ince and BFS in lead, McClaren and Advocaat to be interviewed Times- Ince the favourite but Allardyce has impressed. No other names
philipl Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 LT- BFS brushes Facebook petition aside and says he's a jolly good chap.

Head Rover Heels Posted June 16, 2008 Posted June 16, 2008 Bizarrely, William Hill press release, acknowledging irregular betting patterns on Billy Davies
