philipl Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 As have a couple of Guardianistas Skysports carry the Ince story in more uncertain terms.
den Posted June 19, 2008 Author Posted June 19, 2008 LT Refuting speculation Ince has already been offered the job, chairman John Williams told the Lancashire Telegraph last night: "I can categorically tell you no-one has been offered the manager's job yet. "The board has yet to make a final decision but there could be some sort of announcement on Friday."
LeChuck Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Michael Laudrup has allegedly held talks and is interested in the position.

philipl Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Telegraph twist- Rovers hoping to appoint Laudrup. Laudrup's agent praises John Williams John Jensen would be head Coach Meanwhilst in the Times, Laudrup gets the briefest of mentions as Oliver Kay and Matt Dickinson go into great detail about Ince's imminent appointment. However, it does report that: 1) Rovers' JW says we are now at a "Very short list", and 2) McClaren is joining Twente Enschedde Teamtalk pick up the Telegraph piece and run their second Laudrup and Rovers story

philipl Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Comprehensive Guardian report on Rovers and Ince doesn't tell us anything we do no already know. You can vote in the Guardian's poll: Ince- yes/no? The Independent still have not heard of Laudrup and say Ince's appointment is down to BFS pulling out! Two dingles on the move as well. Telegraph- escape clauses request and transfer funds demands scuppered Laudrup's chances in article saying Ince will be unveiled on Monday. Nothing in the Times. All the papers have coverage of the Man U v Ronaldo war and the Portuguese FA attacking Chelsea over how they appointed Scolari mid-tournament. Scolari meantime has told Ronaldo to go to Real Madrid which could be the clearest indication yet that he is going to Chelsea!

daveoftherovers Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Telegraph- escape clauses request and transfer funds demands scuppered Laudrup's chances in article saying Ince will be unveiled on Monday. The above link is a load of garbage! They've just lifted it of his Wiki site, lazy journalism as per for this rag !!
Alan75 Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Bilic, facing the media on Saturday refused to be drawn on whether he would stay on as Croatia manager or return to club football. "The elimination is still too close, it's not the moment to make crucial decisions." LINK
philipl Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 Guardian/Observer on the significance of an Ince sppointment to black footballers in the UK However, they still treat it as a maybe, not a certain appointment. The Telegraph lay into Shearer and have a sly dig at Rovers in the process. Nothing else in the "qualities" and Newsnow only has Tribal reporting Arsenal and Mancs battling for RSC's signature which is reassuring.
philipl Posted June 22, 2008 Posted June 22, 2008 The LT has just posted this Ince will get it story but it is date lined yesterday afternoon The LT have also posted this testimonial by Kevin Gallen in saying Ince will be no pushover- again the dateline is yesterday Either something is happening or a bunch of stories these guys pre-wrote have somehow found their way out. The only way to access that HorizonFM story is still by searching the Ince name- its not on their news pages. I wonder if the duty hack at the LT saw the HorizonFM link and rushed the Andy Nield pieces out pronto as they are fed-up of being told on here that they were slow on reporting/are plagerising stories which appear on here much earlier.
den Posted June 22, 2008 Author Posted June 22, 2008 Kevin Gallagher reckons Ince's first task is to keep hold of Bentley and Santa Cruz.
philipl Posted June 23, 2008 Posted June 23, 2008 Rovers' appointment generally sitting below Euro08 and the Ronaldo saga. Guardian- positive Balanced. Independent Telegraph- appointed on merit Times Guardian- warm welcome to Ince's appointment Simon Garner's comments
