leftfooter Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I must admit some people do ask Nicko some, er shall we say, strange questions. Whcih anybody else reading them would wonder how they would expect Nicko to answer that one. But if we know it is young school boys - we just have to say that the kids wil play and ignore. Hopefully these schoolboys will grow up - one day - soon - we hope - sadly we have to tolerate them until that day comes. Maybe if a porn section was introduced, alot of these so-called kids would be filtered out

thenodrog Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Ince got the job in the end after an interview process that you were virtually talked and walked through. Shearer - confirmed. Allardyce interview - confirmed. McClaren interview - confirmed. Ten Cate - I still want to kick some asses. If you got any better info feel free to tap into it. I said dont get shirty! BUT now you mention it I actually 'heard' from a very well connected source Sunday night 3 days before you even ..... but I refused to bloody well believe it. I thought it was revealed just to wind me up.
PAFELL Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Anyway, some news. The new boss wants an experienced 'coach' - but I hear the guy is in work and has quite a good job. If it is who I think it is then it's a good tale...and the background to it will be too. I will be making a few more calls before naming him. Wouldn't want to have too many shies at it now. Any clues? Good job in what divison I suppose we should ask?

Roy Evans ?
Hughesy Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Steve Clark seems like the best bet to me. Not gauranteed to keep his job, so lets move while there is an opportunity.

It is probably wise that you didn't post it before Nicko, you wouldn't want to unwittingly give rise to an army of Thenodrog sycophants to rival Nicko's.
vintageadidas Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I mentioned 4 or 5 days ago i heard it was Bryan Robson. I am still getting the same name from my contact.
novella Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I mentioned 4 or 5 days ago i heard it was Bryan Robson. I am still getting the same name from my contact. would make sense, now working at man utd behind the scenes.
jim mk2 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I mentioned 4 or 5 days ago i heard it was Bryan Robson. I am still getting the same name from my contact. Would make sense from Ince's point of view beacuse they are former team-mates. Would make no sense from Rovers' point of view because the man is useless.
tonygreenbank Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Any news on who is in with a chance for being in our coaching team? heard some news today from a teacher at the school where I mostly work. In the course of our conversation he said to me that he had his B Licence as he did a bit of coaching at the Liverpool academy. He said that Paul Ince`s son is at the academy and has been for a couple of years. One of the coaches there had impressed Ince so much that when he got the job at MKDons he took him with him. His name is Carl Robinson and he is only in his mid twenties; clearly he is not the coach with "premiership experience" but as this teacher said very forcefully he will be at Ewood next season in some coaching capacity.
Head Rover Heels Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I mentioned 4 or 5 days ago i heard it was Bryan Robson. I am still getting the same name from my contact.Oh god no. It's a different one right? There must be a few of them out there. Maybe it was "Brian"?
Poita Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Would make no sense from Rovers' point of view because the man is useless. Well said Jim
bluebruce Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Would make sense from Ince's point of view beacuse they are former team-mates. Would make no sense from Rovers' point of view because the man is useless. I completely agree. I read something about Ince wanting a 27 yr old midfielder from MK Dons for 1.5 million...doesn't sound very promising. Has Nicko already covered this? I looked back several pages but saw nothing. If not, is it true?
John Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Key few weeks coming up for me. We had one of the best coaching staff around under Hughes. Therefore, I hope this coach Ince is looking for is decent quality. Holding onto Bents and Santa, could be an impossible task for Ince. Bents has thrown his toys well and truly out. if Arsenal or Man Utd do come in for Santa then it will become very difficult. I am still not sure that Santa is good enough for those two but who knows.... Having to replace your two best players would make Ince's job even harder and would also crank up the pressure. Stating the obvious, but he really needs to be careful with possibly incoming players. Hughes was simply amazing at bringing in decent quality on the cheap. Will be hard to replicate.

I am still not sure that Santa is good enough for those two but who knows.... Santa Cruz would certainly fit into Arsenal or Man Utd better than Bentley! As has been oft-quoted on this site, Bentley is good, but not THAT good. The only one of the "Big 4" I can see Bentley joining is Liverpool - he fits into their sign-decent-players-who-are-nowhere-near-good-enough-to-win-the-league transfer policy. (See Arbeloa, Kuyt, Pennant, Crouch, Benayoun, Aurelio, etc) Christ knows how they convinced Torres to move there.
John Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Mistake there, got Bents and Santa in the wrong order!
spencey7 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Mistake there, got Bents and Santa in the wrong order! But Santa hasn't thrown his toys from the pram.... Has he??
sussexrover Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Joey Barton's trial starts on Monday... Message to self - Never start reading a thread from the end. Nearly choked on my Naan bread
