Bobby G Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 However nervous we are, we should consider Everton havent signed anyone either, so its a fairly balanced match. We have a chance, but I still see us losing...

Fife Rover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Everton 2 (Robinson, Lescott) Rovers 2 (Santa, Robinson with a 110 yard screamer) Are we playing in red and black halves then? Blimey, That Aussie beer must be good stuff! I feel this has a draw written all over it. Everton 3 - Rovers 3. Arteta will collapse in the area with 5 mins to go to rob Rovers of a well deserved away win starter.
Craigman Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Team today from Blackburn official text Robinson Ooijer Samba Nelsen Warnock Reid Dunn Mokoena Pedersen Roberts Santa Cruz Brown Tugay McCarthy Derbyshire Villanueva Simpson Treacy
Paul Mellelieu Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Solid looking line-up with our new Chilean on the bench. Wish i was there, but work comes first...
Bobby G Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Simpson not starting? Thats a surprise... So it looks like Emerton is missing, which is one of the players Nicko must have been referring to and also Vogel misses out completely. I cant believe Mokoena is playing! Absolutely shocked! Looking at the Everton team this is as good a chance as any to beat them, but they will be saying the same about us.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Mokoena! Well thats it, a defeat looming
philipl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 So Emo crocked. Defense at its strongest possible but the Axe and Reid together in midfield plus Roberrts upfront screams a massive absence of class in the side. Best hope is to get to 60 minutes at 0-0 and then bring the good players on.
G Somerset Rover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 I know that Mokoena is bad, but surely not bad enough to warrant Nicko to completely change his backing of Rovers today. Roque's fit and that was the big worry for me. Reidy at right midfield looks a bit worrying though. We really need to step up the pace for a Bentley replacement. Edit: This will no doubt come back to haunt me but the Everton bench is perhaps the weakest looking one that I have seen for some time from any Premiership side. Especially in comparison to ours.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Why aren't we playing Vogel? Surely a better option than Mokoena. Got the feeling Ince doesn't rate Vogel, i was personally impressed towards the end of the last season with his performances.
Doaksie Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Reid switched to right midfield after a pre-season at right back. Strange to try something untested in a game to Ince, at this stage. And the less said about Moko the better! Ince just seen entering the dressing room on SSN. Plenty of smiles and confidence. Makes a change to his media demeanour thus far.
Fife Rover Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Maybe Vogel is being too vocal to the media ? You reckon he's the leak?
andrew92 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Mokoena! Well thats it, a defeat looming for hod sake mokoena and roberts (i just dnt like roberts end of) why dosent ince like vogel hes twice the player and the same sort who can pass aswell!!!???
roverfanuk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Mokoena is playing a defensive role in midfield. So we dont have to worry about him in defense. One thing i will say though, and i hope im wrong. I have a feeling Mokoena will get sent off in this game...
grizfoot Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Ooijer at RB and The Axe in the starting line-up. Sack Ince now. I imagine it will be Reidy on the right and Dunn partnering Mokoena in the middle.
Mozzer Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 aaron mokoena not the greatest footballer in the world-but one thing is for sure-he will do a job for the team-he will protect the defence allowing david dunn room to push forward..
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Robinson Ooijer--Samba--Nelsen--Warnock Reid--MadAxeMurderer--Dunn--Gamst Roberts--Santa It's not too bad, but t'axe. I can see the reasoning behind it though, they have a 5 man midfield pretty much. Hopefully Ooijer, Samba and Nelsen bully Yak out of the game. I'll be in LiveChat if anybody else is.

Mozzer Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 well out of all our midfielders hes probably the only one who gets stuck in, and aint afraid to tackle..
grizfoot Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 If were playing a midfield four I think playing Mokoena just doesn't work. We could be playing like this with 5 in midfield possibly: ---------------------- Mokoena---------------------- Santa Cruz --- Reid ------------ Dunn ---- Pedersen--- ---------------------- Roberts ------------------------ But it's more likely to be 4-4-2 obviously.
Bing Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 We're carrying at least 3 players in today's lineup who simply aren't good enough to be playing Premier League football.
