[Archived] Nathan Ecclestone

Recommended Posts

Found this on a LFC forum:

"Nathan Ecclestone off to Blackburn after he was sent back to the academy because there were 'too many strikers' at Melwood already.

Disgusting way to treat a young lad, who is a fantastic talent, especially when we have rubbish like Brouwer stinking the place out.

Just another example of the internal politics the manager loves to play."

Is he on Youtube? Guess not, or we would of already snapped him up.

Looks like the new academy guy knows what he's doing, im sure we will soon see more youth making a push for 1st team. Something that is essential to a club with our finances.

Or maybe the chief scout? Someone told me his previous job was at Liverpool academy.

Some inside information

he fell out with Liverpool along with a second striker after their treatment handed out following their removal from a tam and being replaced by an Argentinian trialist and an african trialist which had been endorse dby fat spanish waiter.

Rovers jumped the long queue for this lad as he has some serious potential. Liverpool making it difficult for him and it seems Rovers is the first option which he is intent on taking.

Liverpool seem to have an history of treating their young talent in a very poor fashion.

Seem to remember Warnock and Mellor (pne) slating the spanish waiter & co (radio lancs interview) for their appalling treatment while at anfield.

There loss our gain..... hopefully.

How was Neil Mellor treated badly? For a blatantly sub-Liverpool standard striker, he got plenty of games.

I find it amusing how people can be so sanctimonious about other club's youth progression when Rovers have hardly been leaders in this field. In fact, as long as we have Aaron Mokoena in our squad, we are in a very weak position in this debate.

Nobody mentioned number of games or football for that matter.

And nor will they in future - I just can't see it, at the likes of Liverpool or Chelsea. Could anyone honestly see another John Terry make it through the ranks at that kind of club?

At least with Rovers you have a decent chance of breaking through - Derbyshire, Treacy, Olsson (academy?), et. al. They may not be world class players but for a club of our stature, they fill the first team and bench perfectly for our needs.

Exactly. Clubs like Liverpool, Chelsea, and to an extent Spuds and Man Utd tend to buy 18-19 year old players like Obi Mikel, Giovanni, Christiano Ronaldo and so on when they have shown clear signs of being world beaters rather than persevere with a lad from Staines or Cleethorpes who might need an extra year or two to develop. It's all about who is the hot new superstar in the making, the next 'next Maradona' or whatever. Unless they show signs of being brilliant from a very young age, the richer clubs are not interested on the whole. Sahar and Macienne may be very good players, but at Chelsea, they'd get nowhere as they'd constantly go and buy some young Dutch or Portuguese international for £11m when Carvalho, Dogbrush or Terry start to wane.

The top clubs, and those who have delusions of being top clubs don't usually have the patience to develop a player from the age of 16-17, unless they show signs of being a world beater at that age. That is where we can put ourselves in the market-for those who may need a bit more time, space and more opportunities in the 1st team to shine.

The lad Banton was on the bench - and came on - for the academy on Saturday. He is an England under-16 international and may be a good one.

There were other sides in when he decided he would leave Arsenal, mainly Man City and West Ham.

I think he has signed for Rovers but that is yet to be confirmed, but he is certainly at the club just now.

As for Eccleston, he is highly-rated by the Rovers staff who have come from Liverpool...but that will be a bit more complicated because I think he is a signed player at Anfield - and therefore it would take a fee.

Liverpool's ressies are playing tomorrow, so it will be interesting to see if he is involved - or is on his way out.

It's pretty good thinking to be looking at the kids that the big clubs over-look. Whether they make it or not is an other matter.

Im glad we are looking for potential at a younger age – if we can pull out 1 or 2 gems then we are laughing. Ince seems really keen to develop younger players as he has already shown with Olsson and Treacy, and probably Judge later in the season.

Welcome back Nicko – Any other news you have for us, anything happened over the last few months at ewood that hasn’t hit the headlines?

I hope we can get these kids without any of the dreaded clauses. Its interesting to see the moves for such young players. Hughes may not have been quite so keen, and prefered to sign them if they were 21, and stuffed into the reserves with little hope of breaking through (e.g. Bentley). Hughes did sign Olsson, but I doubt he or Treacy would be given as many chances as they've had under Ince.
