vintageadidas Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I'm sorry but nobody on this board REALLY knows what happens behind the scenes at Ewood. I mean come on this is a company that turnsover £50m and people seem to think that their mate's dad knows someone he used to go to school with who knows somebody else who works up at Ewood and John Williams walk around leaving Senior Management meeting notes everywhere. This will be kept very close to their chest. I think the Board are the only people who know JW's actual powers. He is a great business man who sells the club ver well in my opinion.

magicalmortensleftpeg Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 If we can't get anything from Wigan, we'll just have the same people saying 'give him to the Stoke game' etc etc. They just want to buy Ince as much time as possible. They're forgetting where their loyalties lie. And if we beat wigan we'll just have the same people saying 'one game changes nothing, Ince still needs to go'. And, no i dont think we are forgetting where our loyalties lie. No one expected us to beat Utd at Old Trafford, no one expected us to beat Liverpool and we havent, so firing him after two games which even if we'd been playing well we'd be expected to lose is stupid. If we lose to Wigan of course its a different matter, dont think that because some people want to giving Ince an extra chance, it doesnt mean that they'll follow him blindly. People who want him sacked do so because they expect the next guy to be able to do a better job, which may obviously not happen. Its far riskier to get rid of Ince now it is to stick with him. Personally im not confident that we could get anyone better to manage the team at short notice, to then get familiar with the side and to turn this around within two weeks - and that is why im glad the board have sticked with Ince.
Sysagent Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 people are too hung up, on the teams "performance" against liverpool, how on earth, a loss at home 1-3 is being touted as positive, is beyond my belief.. Full heartedly agree with that sentiment up there ^ Hell fire we had less than 40% possession in the match for christ's sake at home!
The Prof. Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 could someone clarify- Williams little ultimatum thing, is it: 1. We must win next 9 games, if we lose even 1 then Ince gets fired 2. We must win 9 out of 22 and if ince doesnt do that he gets fired ?? first one sounds good to me. No 1. We get relegated 2. We could get relegated.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I will wait until he has had proper time in the job to admit if i was wrong What would you consider to be a proper amount of time ?
The Prof. Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I will wait until he has had proper time in the job to admit if i was wrong And how long will that be? We're getting very short of time now.
Atty Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 No i dont think they are. Ok then so under a more experienced manager at premiership level who is used to getting the best out of what he got and to play to the strengths of his team and try and exploit the weakness of oppositions’ team we would not be any better off? Ince so fare has not shown any of them quality’s and he has already admitted that he is not going to change the way his team plays and will not try to win dirty. We don’t have the players or the money to buy the players Ince needs to achieve his open attacking game. Even he changes his style of management and we try and win ugly or he out of a job as we can not afford to lose many more points. 16 games is long enough to judge a manager certainly at this level.

Sorry - correction - should read 'nobody on the Rovers board REALLY knows what happens behind the scenes at Ewood.'
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 My gut feeling is that 40 points may not be enough this season. The way most teams ( apart from Rovers and West Brom) are picking up the odd win leads me to think the safety margin this year could be significantly higher than it has been in the past.
Hughesy Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Our Points so far: Home - 5pts Away - 8pts (Sorry) Based on the season so far, we are bottom of the league at home, and 13th in the away stakes. They always say you have to win your home games to stay up - Gulp!! We still have away trips to Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Liverpool aswell as Hull Home ties against Villa, Everton, West Ham, Pompey With 22 games to go, and a minimum of 9 wins needed. It looks very difficult given we are also bottom of the form table. Stats from Here
Amo Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 And if we beat wigan we'll just have the same people saying 'one game changes nothing, Ince still needs to go'. We're entitled to say that after what we've seen so far. No one expected us to beat Utd at Old Trafford, no one expected us to beat Liverpool and we havent, so firing him after two games which even if we'd been playing well we'd be expected to lose is stupid. 'Boro? WBA? Sunderland? Tottenham? Pompey? Not a single win against the first two, and nil points from the last three.

Stats from Here Good point. say we got a further 12 points - for arguments sake - at home and 5 away we would get 34 points - close but not close enough. Need 4 more for even squeeky bum time this year as the teams around us will make runs and/or spend. Errmmm..... but the fact is our recent form suggests we won't be anywhere near and we got the bulk of our meger 17 pts early on. It's a miracle we need already folks.

Hughesy Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Just to put a few other things into perspective. Last season we conceded a total of 48 goals over the entire season - 31 this season with only 16 games gone. It is also the worst defensive record in the league this season and if you take the two new boys out (West Brom & Stoke) then its the worst by some 6 goals. Last Season we also lost a total of 10 games - 9 So far already this season 1 interesting point about the 9 more wins quote - a team with 12 wins has never gone down in the premier league.
novella Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 One positive is the games coming up is the first time this season i feel as if we get a good run of winnable games.
Iceman Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Guys relax, we 19th with a goal difference of - 5 million, and be greatful that we still have Ince as our manager. what crisis?
thenodrog Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 thenodrog; care to explain why the Walrus has turned us down? Could it be that with the money available he doesn't think he can save us? Ince staked his reputation on this working out for him, his first Premiership job. Obvious. I said earlier that Allardyce has us on a spike now.
Hughesy Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Sorry - Only 8 points away so far!! FFS it gets worse.
Paul Mellelieu Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Blackburn charity of our choice? Hmmmm.... Unless you want to contribute to the building of yet another mosque it look's like it's gonna be BRFC from now on. You are obsessed, I suggest you see a doctor. (Can't think where Holt gets his lines from) As for the issue at hand, Den seems to have summed it up nicely. Maybe there isn't a replacement in position, maybe the players are rallying round Ince.
tchocky Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 We only have 13 points, people. 13. And not 17
Brfcrule1 Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 have to agree with most above very worrying as the team that are bottom at xmas get relegated and the way we are playing now we will be bottom a drastic improvement needs to happen but personally I think BFS should have already been approached/appointed but I do think one more loss and it could well be goodnight Vienna without a prayer for PI but I do think the board need to act now otherwise come xmas we could be gone without a prayer btw I have signed the online petition I urge other board members to do so before it's too late.
The Prof. Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 13 pts eh? - Look I can dream can't I ! 26 by..... 38 by..... Oh Nooooooooo....! At this rate we'll get 40 points sometime in 2010.
sambo Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 I think Wigan away should be his last if we don't win. If we sack him too near to saturday it could be massively negative.
