langhoblue Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but anyway..... Am going to the US this year and want to see an NFL game live - will be in New York when the Jets are at home. Was wondering if anyone has any idea how long before games the tickets go on sale and how hard they are to buy? If I can't see an NFL game would also try Baseball or Basketball - is it possible to buy tickets for them and if so, when? Thanks very much for any help which will be very gratefully received!!

Jets are a hard ticket to get - would probably need to go to a tout. Baseball tickets will be available now (unless it's playoff time) and for basketball, check the team's website. Usually single game tickets for the whole season go on sale a few months before the season begins.

Sorry - forgot to say am going in December will baseball be on then?
Rovermatt Posted July 26, 2009 Posted July 26, 2009 Baseball's over then isn't it? I'm going to be in Chicago in September. Anyone know how much Bears tickets would be?
American Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Thanks very much - how much would it be off a tout - loads more than face value? Sorry - forgot to say am going in December will baseball be on then? Probably a decent amount more, but you could try contacting the team and pulling the "tourist from out of town" thing. I know it works over here for football, but not sure about American football. Basketball and Ice Hockey will be on in December, but not baseball. If you can swing it, go see a NY Rangers (Ice Hockey) game. Lots of fun, especially if you sit in the cheap seats. They still chant "Potvin sucks!" about a former opposing player at every game, even though he's been retired for about 25 years or so.

The Rangers play at Madison Square Garden don't they? Is it quite easy to get tickets for the Ice Hockey? Again thanks very much for the help so far - its hugely appreciated!!
BPF Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hello, Sorry to go off topic but was wondering if any of you could help me? It seems as though I'll be moving to America in the very near future and it will become important for me to watch sport / follow a team out there. I'll be moving to New York. Can anyone recommend any DVDs or books to bring me up to speed with the NFL, the teams, the rules etc? I'd really appreciate any advice.

Wikipedia is a good source for learning the rules, as is watching the sport. However to be honest the best source for learning the rules, for me, were the Madden NFL games. The sport is actually extremely straight forward. If you're moving to New York you have to plump for the Giants - great defence, good running game, nice jersey.

Rovermatt Posted July 28, 2009 Posted July 28, 2009 Yes they do. They are known as 'Big Blue'. Michael Vick has been re-instated. What do people reckon? Will he get a team. I read that Bill Belichick was very taken with Miami's use of the 'Wildcat' last year and that Vick would be the perfect fit for that as Brady, for all his obvious greatness, is a conventional QB.

Would love Vick in Denver. I'm sure he'll feel he can be starting somewhere in the not too distant future, I'd be surprised if he went to New England.
Shevchenko Posted July 29, 2009 Posted July 29, 2009 Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson lost his fight with cancer and has passed away. R.I.P.

Rovermatt Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Vick is an Eagle. He's not a patch on McNabb, but he'll get bums on seats.

American Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 Vick had to miss 2 years and forfeit millions for dogfighting, yet Stallworth only misses one year for killing someone?
CaliRoverNYC Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 And everyone is complaining about Vick but nobody about Stallworth, I can't believe that espn had him pegged to go to Pittsburgh... Have they read up on the history of the Franchise. We nearly cut Holmes for weed, why would we sign vick when we cleary don't need another QB. HERE WE GO!
