He really only does that by default since we only have two strikers.

He's not PL quality. Good finisher but you need far more than that to be a PL striker nowadays.

Derbyshire takes a lot of criticism on this board and it could well be he is not PL quality.

However, would anyone say our current 2 strikers are PL quality?

Yes I would. Roberts is a good lower half prem player and Kalinic has a touch of class about him.

An interesting reply.

I do think that Roberts on occassions can produce, especially when his manager realises he has only one effective way to play. Unfortunately that is all too easily forgotten.

He misses so many one on one chances and is generally such a frustrating player I find it very hard to decide his appropriate level.

He was a disaster at West Brom-depite loads of chances being created he didn't score 1 PL goal from what I remember.

On the other hand he did superbly at Wigan during his best ever season in the PL.

Good enough to play in the bottom 3 teams? Is he better than that?

Kalinic has still not proven he is PL quality. Maybe this is the season he will prove it. Maybe it's not.

Agreed TCO. While I don't see Roberts as a world-beater, he is most certainly a 'Premiership quality' striker. Similarly, while we are yet to see the best of Kalinic I would hardly class him as a less-than Premier League standard forward.

Derbyshire wasn't good enough before, not sure what will have changed after another season or so of injuries and sub appearances.

I agree - plenty of decent freebies/ loans out their to be had - rather than giving Piquionne 40-50k a week for 3 years.

As for Matty - NOT premier league standard....4th or 5th choice maybe, but no thanks

To be fair to G & S they didn't get the club into debt and they have reduced the debt from £100 Million to £90 Million within 6 Months.

I think we will probably balance the books by the end of the transfer window, the players we are actively trying to shift are Behrami, Kovac, Gabbidon and Diamanti.

Remind me....... who are those 4 again? :rolleyes:

All this talk of massive signings and so far apart from the young untried Mexican, they're signing has beens :rolleyes:

I've a feeling that Sol Campbell will rock up there in the very near future to continue their exciting youth policy. Gold and Sullivan promise the world. Their transfer policy is all cock and no balls - which I think rather suits them!! :lol:

The porn boys have always been good at talking.

The real action at WHam is signing a bunch of players who are good for the squad thus far.

All depends on how they negotiated the deal with the Icelandic banks- I suspect the banks are stranded with the debt in reality. The question is the extent to which it can still drag WHam down.
