RovertheHill Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Speaking of which, not sure if it's been posted elsewhere but a couple of reports on Newsnow that he's unhappy with his role at Spurs and has been in to see Ramos. Oh dear What a pity Never mind
Hughesy Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Not playing in his position, not playing for England, bottom of the league! Grass is greener and all that!
DanLad Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 There's a lot to be said for being a big fish in a small pond!
Bobby G Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 How many of our players over the past 15 seasons can we say left us for BETTER times elsewhere? May and Berg maybe. Possibly Henchoz at Liverpool as well. The Newcastle exodus definitely didnt. In recent years, many other players come to mind too, especially Bellamy. There must be some sort of curse really and I wish some players open their eyes up and realize that Blackburn Rovers is a good place to play your football, but I can understand them from one perspective and that being that the owners MUST spend some money to show that the club can match the players ambitions...
vintageadidas Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I agree, i think certain clubs are geared up for certain things. It's hard to explain, but i just dont think the likes of Newcastle will be successful - you could say its not in their blood. Like Arsenal, in 10 years time - complete new team and different manager, they will still play quality attacking football. Players do well at Ewood for some reason and i think a takeover of Rovers would be more successful than NUFC, West Ham ...etc
RovertheHill Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I think DanLad hit the nail on the head. If you are a creative player or a goalscorer is it better to be a big fish in a small pond where everything is geared to your game or move to a bigger club where you are just one of the cogs. I think you have to be truly exceptional to make that step. As for Berg and May, I think it is easier for a defender because you generally are part of a unit and I think expectations are lower
Hughesy Posted September 22, 2008 Author Posted September 22, 2008 Possibly add into that list Le Saux and Duff. Although neither really hit the level you would think they would from when they were with us
waggy Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 can't say i'm suprised bents is struggling at spurs, the fans are even raking him playing for arsenal up.wrong move for him,but great deal for us
Hughesy Posted September 23, 2008 Author Posted September 23, 2008 Also according to some rumours he has had bust up with Jenas too! Even better!
RovertheHill Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Buy him back in January for half price
Mr Creosote Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Speaking of which, not sure if it's been posted elsewhere but a couple of reports on Newsnow that he's unhappy with his role at Spurs and has been in to see Ramos. Oh dear What a pity Never mind ****in' boohoo
martmitch Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 sitting here watching spurs struggle in poland wondering how spurs star summer signing hardly even gets a game anymore, as he wanted a move to further his chances of england place I think its resulted in the exact opposite, grass isnt greener on the other side comes to mind
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Wonder if Ramos will get the chop tonight... No sympathy for Bentley whatsoever.
cn_barlow Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I think this result will buy him another few weeks...
Ronin Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Wonder if Ramos will get the chop tonight... I hope not. The longer the Spuds can suffer before Levy panics and changes the management the better, so anytime in January would be good.
Amo Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 I don't know if anyone read Brian Reade's column in today's Mirror, but he was laying into Terry Venables for making a scapegoat of Dimitar Berbatov for Tottenham's woes. He finished by asking whether Tel would consider Bentley a mercenary too for leaving Blackburn to White Hart Lane, or don't teams outside London count?
Frisky Jim Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 If anybody deserves sacking at Spurs it's Damian Comolli. £17 million for Darren Bent? We should've taken Spurs to the cleaners with Bentley.
Darwen Rover Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 very few players have left the mighty Rovers tobe better players................... Now.. question to you guys, if we could do a SWP style deal for Bentley to return, would you be happy / unhappy...?? I know my thoughts...
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Spurs 1-0 down at HT, Ramos must be close to a sacking. Poor David, not featuring again?...
1864roverite Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Who cares ? Spurs are in freefall couldnt have happened to a bigger or better club (aw it did do with birmingham!)
