nicko Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Our radar or everyone's? Do we have a new target? Off the radar...moved on to other targets now. Not got the full explanation why yet.
Majiball Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 So the extra place money means we are looking at a more seasoned striker coming in now? Can I also guess that perhaps we may see Gamst re-sign now as well?
J*B Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Off the radar...moved on to other targets now. Not got the full explanation why yet. I really do hope you're not going to tell me we're looking at other targets, such as Davies or Beattie
niggit Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Maybe with Pedersen going, the money will be more spread out. So not as much going on a striker.
47er Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Off the radar...moved on to other targets now. Not got the full explanation why yet. A good opportunity to congratulate your mate Owen Coyle on the great job he's done at Bolton. Hardly a sideways move was it?! They will be more difficult for us next year. And to keep within thread ,if Coyle wants Dindane I feel we should go for him!
Amo Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 We need a left-back, two midfielders, and a couple of new strikers (one possibly on-loan). If we can stretch the budget over that, with some wheelin' & dealin', we'll be in a much stronger position going into next season.
Bennisfromheaven Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 So Nicko, now that the season is over & our funds have been finalised do you know what kind of players we will be targetting?? Also, any update on Pedersen?
nicko Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 So Nicko, now that the season is over & our funds have been finalised do you know what kind of players we will be targetting?? Also, any update on Pedersen? One striker...first and foremost. Probably a second striker. Then, after that, who knows? No word on MGP yet. If he had another club I think we would know. This one is going to drag on by the looks. A good opportunity to congratulate your mate Owen Coyle on the great job he's done at Bolton. Hardly a sideways move was it?! They will be more difficult for us next year. And to keep within thread ,if Coyle wants Dindane I feel we should go for him! It was a sideways move. He left Burnley in 14th...and he took Bolton to 14th.
alexanders Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Wendel We are linked with Wendel, a left-sided winger. Maybe in a 4-3-3. We are looking to bring him in should Morten Gamst Pedersen turn down the last contract offer and he looks likely to go to SPL to play for Celtic. The article also says we are monitoring Alou Diarra (Def mid) Any info on this Nicko?
nicko Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Wendel We are linked with Wendel, a left-sided winger. Maybe in a 4-3-3. Any info on this Nicko? £6.5 million? Doubt it.
Emge Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 nicko, do you have any comforting words to those of us fearing that Samba will be sold this summer? Any clubs made some sort of approach of any kind?
nicko Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 nicko, do you have any comforting words to those of us fearing that Samba will be sold this summer? Any clubs made some sort of approach of any kind? I haven't heard a word about that. But there will be a lot of centre half movement among the big clubs, so you never know. Nelsen is definitely staying - despite some whispers last week.
Bobby G Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I think by making him captain we may have done a smart move to retain him for another season at least.
Muddboy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I think by making him captain we may have done a smart move to retain him for another season at least. Yep, makes you wonder whether anyone was sniffing around him a couple of weeks ago...
Hughesy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Samba is our key - Do not sell him no matter what!! Sell the fringe boys 1st if we need to raise some funds - Chimbonda, Jacobsen, Andrews, Grella etc.
mickbrown Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 I think by making him captain we may have done a smart move to retain him for another season at least. Why ? You can sign for top 6 club or be captain of rovers.....I am not being funny but I know which one he would choose.
Hughesy Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Why ? You can sign for top 6 club or be captain of rovers.....I am not being funny but I know which one he would choose. Correct he would choose Rovers....This is Blackburn Rovers, not the mickey mouse Island that is West Ham You only have to look at Samba in our last 10 games and he looks to be genuinely loving every minute of his time with us now!

He was trying to impress his potential suitors.....
Mozzer Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 nice to see we are after left back after being linked to a few it is a position that needs filling and for me couldnt go much wrong with paul konchesky also jermaine pennant on free could be a good deal altho his wages might be to much
Guest Kamy100 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Correct he would choose Rovers....This is Blackburn Rovers, not the mickey mouse Island that is West Ham You only have to look at Samba in our last 10 games and he looks to be genuinely loving every minute of his time with us now! You are sadly mistaken. If any of the top 7 clubs (Chelsea, United, Arsenal, Spurs, Villa, City and Liverpool) came in for him he would want to move to them. The good thing is that when he does play for Rovers he gives it 110%. I can see plenty of interest in Samba over the summer as his performances, particularly since February have been superb. If he is sold we can ask for top dollar.

I know that - I was just teasing the West Ham fan about their poorly run club Realistically we will receive maximum bids of £12m-£15m. Its simple then - NO DEAL BANKER!
modes98 Posted May 10, 2010 Posted May 10, 2010 Samba is our key - Do not sell him no matter what!! I am now a lot less worried about losing Samba than I was. With Jones and Hanley both looking very good, albeit in a brief spell of first team action, if we could get one of them loaned out to a Championship or Promoted team for next season and give them experience whilst playing the other ourselves. It would put us in a very strong position having Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Jones and Hanley all very able to play CB.

However, if you are captain of Rovers at this stage, your agent is less likely to be prioritising getting you out of Rovers just for the sake of it. Another year will give us the chance to see how our youngsters come on, and if we do well will do Samba's reputation notheing but good. He'll have another year's premiership experience behind him and be more able to command a move to a big club. If it's silly money he'll go, but I doubt it's for anything less than silly money at this stage.
