Rover Down Under Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 So our lousy, overrated, overhyped, careless bunch of losers could well be on the plane home tomorrow. Sadly, we will probably pull it off and squeeze into the next round with a turnaround performance but get dumped out soon after. The same old questions will arise, same old excuses will be made, same old Gerrard/Lampard argument will go on (when NEITHER should be on the pitch), same old scenario will occur; Capello resigns, hunt for new manager begins. Well my answer is pretty simple, radical, but worth a passing thought. Whoever is manager - for the next four years English players cannot be selected from Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs. We have suffered for a long time from the antithesis of this policy – that all / the majority of players are from these teams. All they have done is disappoint and disrespect the shirt, the fans and the country. The influence of the crook Redknapp, Lampard Snr et al. in the FA has got to stop. We want players who will PLAY for England, not just show up. For a bit of fun imagine that this had been applied to this World Cup campaign. What would your team be? Here is mine: ------------------------------ Robinson (Rovers) ------------------------------ -- P Neville (Everton) -- Jagielka (Everton) -- Dunne (Villa) -- Warnock (Villa) ------------------------------ Barry (Villa) ---------------------------------- Parker (West Ham) --------------------------------------------Etherington (Stoke) ------------------------------ Dunn (Rovers) ---------------------------------- ---------------- Davies (Bolton) ---------- Bent (Sunderland) ----------------- Subs: Kirkland (Wigan), Baines (Everton), Lescott (Man City), Shawcross (Stoke), Richards (Man City), Ridgewell (Birmingham), Nolan (Newcastle), Murphy (Fulham), Cattermole (Sunderland), Heskey (Villa), Jerome (Birmingham), Johnson (Fulham) Now I reckon that IS a team that would do so much better than our current losers. They all put 110% in, and if selected for England would put 220% in, they are not as distant from the fans as the overpaid prima donnas and it looks more like an England team of old – tough, tenacious, resilient and proud. Just imagine if that lot (or your choice) were on the pitch tonight instead of the useless lumps who will uninspiringly scrape through.

Rover Down Under Posted June 23, 2010 Author Posted June 23, 2010 I just read this brilliant post: http://www.brfcs.co.uk/mb/index.php/topic/23238-worst-ever-world-cup/page__view__findpost__p__919342
bellamy11 Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Richard Dunne wouldnt give his all for England Haha first thing I thought when I read it. Also, Gareth Barry seems to have re-signed for Villa.

Also, Gareth Barry seems to have re-signed for Villa. ooopss, must have had brain in 2009 mode. Didn't know Dunne wasn't English, bit hard to keep up with things over here. Typically we decided to turn up last night and the best players were from non big 4 teams who played their heart out.
BuckyRover Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8C2S59szyI&feature=youtube_gdata Quality video of Capello at his best.
Amo Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Defoe scores one scrappy goal and he's plastered all over the media. This country...
Billy Castell Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 The following players should never, ever play for England again: John Terry, Matthew Upson, Emile Heskey, Frank Lampard, Shaun Wright-Phillips, Joe Cole and Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney should be on the bench for the next few games. As I have said before, we need a purge of all the egotistical tossers, and let us start from scratch. Even if that means seeing Kevin Davies play! As for the manager.......................the only man who can sort it all out has just moved to Real Madrid. Although he'll play that clown Terry.
Dan Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 BFS would have done better than Capello. Maybe Stuart Pearce wouldn't have been so bad? Too many bad players picked instead of better ones and players played our of position. Everyone know it wouldn't work......
Mr. E Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 If England had a defender half as good as Dunne, the defense would be nowhere near as tragic. And that includes Terry.
MarkBRFC71 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 If England had a defender half as good as Dunne, the defense would be nowhere near as tragic. And that includes Terry. I said before the WC started that he was a disaster waiting to happen. And it happened today - several times.
Guest Kamy100 Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Below is a 10 page article, fascinating read and should be used as a blue print for the future of the England side: How A football Star Is Made
Majiball Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Its a great article Kamy, I've read it before. For England to move forward it needs to do it, its own way. Copying another country is not that way. Everyone needs to sit down, Universities, FA, coaches, clubs and come up with a plan that embraces English footballing culture and allows for the youngsters to reach their potential. but it needs to happen at all levels from top to toe and that is a mammoth task. Even more than getting the warring parties to sit down in the first place.

I_saw_Batty_score Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 Football is a team game - England played as a collection of individuals. I reckon a half decent league 1 team would have qualified out of Englands group. I think the FA should ignore any premiership players and choose players from the championship and lower leagues - then get them to play together as a team. The only way to play as a team is to train and play regularly. Make it a league rule that they have to be released for FA cup weekends and Carling cup midweek games to play for an "england" team that then enters these competitions as if they were a lower league team. Also change the rules so that there are no replays but penalties - so they might get to practise those. Something radical is needed otherwise this shambles will just continue.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted June 27, 2010 Posted June 27, 2010 or do what they said from the start: Pick players only on form and fit.
