Speedie Dived Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I was under the impression that agreeing the wage with a player was the first course of action in 99% of transfers, players know what they will be offered when bids for them go in. Technically tapping up but everyone does it. If we are at this stage then it is another positive step, at least people are talking to us

Mattyh1983 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 hence the role of agents then, Rovers have put a offer to the agents and they talk it through with the player... and then a fee is agreed with the clubs or not.... there's me thinking that it was the club had to agree a fee first before allowing the player to have medical and discuss personal terms.... i am so behind the times or blind minded
tonyoz Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 How can I put this... If you want to do the Cisse and Keane deals the hard part will be sorting out the pay deals of the players. If you know what I mean. Agreeing fees with Freiburg and Spurs would be more straightforward. You don't bid for someone - and then sort out their terms - if you are trying to make a splash as seems to be the case with the new Rovers owners. At least I hope that is why no bids have been forthcoming for either today. Surely with the "Prince of Agents" on our team we know how to handle this????
BangkokRover Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 hence the role of agents then, Rovers have put a offer to the agents and they talk it through with the player... and then a fee is agreed with the clubs or not.... there's me thinking that it was the club had to agree a fee first before allowing the player to have medical and discuss personal terms.... i am so behind the times or blind minded I would suspect in the world of agents anything goes, I would also think that there are only a few people you really need to talk to find out what I going on,
Billy Castell Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 To me Nicko's last message makes it sound like we are trying to sort out the personal terms, and then sorting out the fee with the club afterwards. Maybe wage demands are the biggest issue with Keane and Cisse, and we're trying to sign them without going mad on the wages. Hopefully the Piatti deal is being done if it needing a quick resolution.
RoverMad86 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 From what I think I know of dealings you can ask a club if you can talk to their player. That club then says "Yes" or "No" If yes, you talk to player and then agree deal with club. If no, you ask them to name you a price. Really hope we can sort a deal out for Cisse soon.
chaddyrovers Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 No. Sore point. have we missed out on him? i reckon we will sign Cisse this week. keane maybe
nicko Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 have we missed out on him? Piatti is still available...as is his phone number.
Mattyh1983 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Piatti is still available...as is his phone number. Meaning he's not answering any calls
Billy Castell Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 You're making it sound like he's doing a Shane Warne to your wife/daughter over the phone Nicko!
he6rt6gr6m Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 DA of Daily mirror has post this on website. very similar to the LT article today http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/news/Transfer-news-Blackburn-bid-13m-for-Papiss-Cisse-article753245.html How do you get from "Blackburn in £13m bid for striker" to "Steve Kean is ready to make a £13million bid"?? Jesus... Meaning he's not answering any calls OR meaning we haven't made the call?
roverandout Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 if piatti wants to come here, his agent wants him to come here and rovers want him here all i can say is.....GET HIM HERE!! jeez
leerovers1980 Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 have we missed out on him? i reckon we will sign Cisse this week. keane maybe wish i was as optimistic as you , just hope all this isnt another publicity stunt by venkys they seam to like all the courage on the back pages , i hope im proved wrong
Oklahoma Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 Funny thing, Nicko. Benfica also want Piatti. But they probably don't advance because they want to sell Cardozo first. Which Rovers are interested as well. Any news on the other players on the list? Miranda and Jermaine Jones are crucial signings. Do you think Keane will accept a pay cut to come to Ewood Park? And if he does, will it make other teams interested in him? I believe the biggest problem to sign him is his wage...

OR meaning we haven't made the call? agree!! why we still not bid on any player? every team are trying hard to make their team stronger now.
roverandout Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 no disrespect to benfica, but i cant see him wanting to play in the portugese league, having played in spain im sure he will wanna stick around the top leagues.

Benfica are famously slow when it comes to deals - at least in the last couple of years. Piatti's people are not enocuraging them. But if Rovers dither then they may well start to encourage them shortly. Miranda, Jones and Keane are all issues that need to be sorted too. I accept that a lot is being done in a hurry here. But the Piatti thing strikes me as a major deal at the moment - and one that could be done quite easily.

Kean and the owners must know we need quality players in this summer and I will judge the them after the transfer window is closed

But if Rovers dither then they may well start to encourage them shortly. I know Benfica (my favourite portuguese team) lost players like Falcão to FC Porto because Benfica is too slow and also pays less. Been googling Rovers in the news today and some websites put Vicente on his way to Rovers. "His future is in England in Blackburn Rovers". Could it be just old news or is there any truth in this? He is out of contract... Which is making me wonder WHY we haven't moved on this by now It also makes me wonder why no one else has done it so far.
Tyrone Shoelaces Posted June 27, 2011 Posted June 27, 2011 I wouldnt be happy with Robbie Keane at all. Doesnt have the pace of days gone by. I dont see him being an asset. Although if he is the "cheaper" option then its not the end of the world. Except I feel it would stunt the development of Rochina personally. Me too, not the player he was. I'd rather we missed out.
