Hughesy Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 The latest name to be linked to us today is Steven Naismith, another player who should now be available on a free following his refusal to join the newco rangers club. Would still be an interesting one in terms of legality as nobody is 100% clear on where Rangers stand on this. So thoughts and views about Naismith? Hardly scored masses of goals in the Scottish prem. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Naismith He was ruled out of last season from November with anterior cruciate ligament damage, and scored 9 goals in the first 13 games. Everton are also supposed to be keeping a close eye on him, so could potentially blow our offer out of the water.

forumquizmaster Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 I very much doubt Naismith would come to Ewood. Think he would want to play in the premier League. He was Rangers' best player last season until he got injured. They really missed him while he was out and he would be an excellent signing for us. For what its worth I also think Goodwillie will score a few in the Championship if he's deployed in his correct position and not out on the bloody wing.
Jock Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Dont want him. I know most players these days show no loyalty but what these players are doing at Rangers smacks of opportunism. We've got enough of that character trait at Ewood.

Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 26, 2012 Posted June 26, 2012 Yea he will go to a premier league team. He is often their best player. His goal scoring record isn't outstanding because he often plays on the wing or off another striker.
Cocker Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 From the Rangers players available I would take Steven Davis, Kyle Lafferty (I know I know just try and forget he was a dingle) or Steven Whittaker (this one the most out of the 3) I think they would be great

Do you think so there contracts are void as it's a new company they took wage cuts to try and help the club they won't get that money back and there is a chance that they could be playing in the Scottish 3rd division not the best stage for international footballers let me assure you.

And thats if the scottish 3rd will have them. Apparently there is a 6 club waiting list. Rangers cannot guarantee the players anything at the moment.....We should try and get a couple ....would be good in our league.
Gally Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Naismith is a quality player, certainly at this level, only reservations would be his fitness after so many bad injuries.
windymiller7 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 http://www.thescotti...icle4396832.ece There was also a shortened version of this in todays NW edition of the Sun. TBH I'd take both of these Whittaker as a first choice, but I reckon both would be useful this coming season.
forumquizmaster Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Most Rangers fans I know think Whittaker is crap. Naismith and Davis on the other hand.....
Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Whittaker is average. Bradley Whorr is better. Henley as well and probably Lowe although I want to see him in midfield from now on. Davis and Naismith would be great signings but can't see them coming to the Championship. Lafferty isn't a bad player but is an ex-dingle and has an attitude problem so I don't think we should sign him. We should try and sign Jamie Ness from them as well.
Salgado Is A Hero Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 what's john fleck doing? Apparently off to Sheff Utd I think I read. Had lots of potential back in the day I would be happy to take a gamble on him.

Was impressed with Rhys McCabe when i watched the old firm game earlier in the year don't know if it was a one off but on that performance he would not be bad,

Still not convinced these players will be available for freebies....
chaddyrovers Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Was there any need to link the same article Chaddy? I didn't see that someone had already posted the same link, so why don't you just calm down abit! I see the article online and just post it without reading the rest of the forum.
Hughesy Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 Just have a look then next time.....its on the same bloody page in a 1 page thread man!
EwoodDawn Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Naismith - now I know we've turned into the old TV series Dream Team. Thing is I used to love that program just because it was sooo preposterous. Now, sheesh.......
budha Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Officially gone to Everton, not that we probably were really after him due to Best and Gomes.
