I didn't realise Eton had bought it, but its significant that of the two teams represented only one was apparently interested.

As For negativity, it would have been an imaginative initiative from our owners. It would have shown they cared about our history, it would have built bridges with the fans, it would have attracted people to the ground to see it.

Its not ME being negative, its another missed opportunity from our absent owners.

In fact the real negativity on this Board comes from those who say our fans can't do what Swansea's have done.

I'm not defending our absent owners (notice I no longer use the word Venkys, a subtle but important difference), however as far as I'm aware the owners of the club, if that be Jack Walker, the Walker Trust or our current owners, have never bought memorabilia for display in and around the lounges/suites...there is plenty our current owners can be criticized for, however buying an old programme isn't one of them.

If its true that Eton HAVE bought the programme, then the chances of it ever coming back to the market are rare to impossible.

I'm certain it will never leave Eton! Without going on, its a pity that the owners didn't embrace an imaginative and simple way to help get closer to the fans That's all. Jack didn't need to!

the fact is 47er, the owners aren't bothered in the slightest about any positive connection with the supporters - the past 2 1/2 years have shown that. The notion that they would have even been told by the powers that be at Ewood (aka Shagnew) that the programme was for sale is fanciful to say the least. It was NEVER going to happen...

Surely it's worth far more to the |Old Etonians seeing as they won that day?

Why would the club want a reminder of a defeat no matter how long ago it was?

Does this mean the club should bid in 2143 for a programme from last seasons Wigan home game?

Well I've made my point, if no-one agrees with me, it must be a bad one!

B & A Army, we are talking about THE OLDEST FOOTBALL PROGRAMME in the world! There is only one! Comparing it to last years Wigan game is going just a tad over the top?

Of course the owners shouldn't have bid for it sure the club and it's history are of no importance to them not like its a player they can shove on the conveyor belt, and if Venky's wanted it I'm sure Shaw will knock them up a copy for half the price if the wanted one, specialist area isn't it document reproduction?
