Looks like Tyjon was helping knit play as a left forward in the match, or at least as a second forward. Madness to think Rovers U21s had him playing as a lone striker for a whole season. Wholly unsuited for it.

He played most of last season for the U21s as either a 10 or or coming off the left as he did for the U18s the other night.  sometimes even deeper as part of the midfield

I am honestly not sure why so many keep stating that he is a striker/being played as a striker, he hasn't played their regularly for Rovers at any level for nearly 2 years

I defer to your knowledge on this but I recall Tyjon leading the line last season when others were on loan/injured. Perhaps, it was much less than I vaguely recall. At some point, Boggan, Wood, Leonard etc. were all unavailable. For a teenager lacking real pace or physical strength or great wingers to feed, albeit, he is very talented, it made no sense. To my mind, he was overplayed.

Low, Pitt & Walls are from the U16s, the rest are U18s

Several of the "more senior" U18s who played vs Coventry in midweek (Dunn, Vare, Joseph, Tyjon, Pates, Wilkinson) were left out

U21s team for this afternoons game with Birmingham

Of the starting 11, only Vare (who has been named on the first team bench) & Houghton have never featured for our first team, which may be some sort of record for us?

There is also a game v Preston tomorrow afternoon which will probably see a younger team

It seems that way.  Joseph on the bench for when that proves to be ineffective

I wouldn't have thought so.  They have been trying Powell centrally for a while (personally think this is strange as he looks like he will be the perfect fit at wing back when he builds himself up a bit), and Dlamini is a wide player

The Academy is the only thing this club does well - clearly they're just given a budget and the likes of Gestede stay well out of the way.

Apart from when he dropped in 'we can trade with academy players' in one of his clueless waffle interviews.

Quite what he meant who knows but it suggested to me he sees them all as saleable assets before they've even been near the first team.

Either way it's definitely best if he stays well away from it.
