The defenders are so much better in the top league. Plus he doesn't have the pace - the prime requisite at the elite level. For his sake I hope he's a big success and at 25, he hasn't yet reached his peak but there's a reason someone with his goalscoring record hasn't earned a big move before now.

I think he could go a job in the PL but he'll need to continue to bulk up. Contrary to popular belief, there aren't that many strikers in the PL with blistering pace.

If he can adapt like a VERY ordinary Kevin Davies did then he has a chance - simply because of his eye for goal.

Must be a PL decision to sell Rhodes, it's a very poor price compared to previous offers turned down.

Unless being cynical, it's part of Venky's end game, parachute payments finish end of this season, last desperate roll of the dice employing Lambert to try and scrape into the play offs was an admirable effort but has failed, so they're just happy to get what they can for Rhodes in now in readiness for bailing out.

Think you may have hit the nail on the head...

Born fans think they're getting McCormack aswel as Rhodes with Kike going to fulham on loan.

Is it heck crooked. It's fine and dandy and just so long as the cheapest ST at Boro is in excess of £10,000 the ffp model works perfectly. I can't understand why you are sounding so bitter.

We'll be much better without him. Graham scored 24 goals in his last full Championship season, and 1 in 3 during has last extended run with Middlesbrough. Watt is an exciting talent as well. No need to panic.

Guessing the major rebuilding will wait until the summer. Obviously most of that is in midfield - a goal scoring wide player and a ball playing midfielder as an absolute minimum.

I'd much rather we had a system designed to have multiple goalscoring threats, rather than building a team to suit one man, which is really the only way Rhodes can play. Good luck to Boro and Rhodes pulling it off, they'll be trying to succeed where both Rovers and Scotland have failed.

Rhodes goals will push Boro over the line to promotion that's what should of happened to us but sadly didn't

Goalscorers with Jr's record are hard to come by and cost a lot of money

Was completely and pleasantly surprised to hear about the amount of money Huddersfield are going to get from this transfer. 20% of any profit?! If that's true, then that's terrible on Huddersfield's part. I'm sure at one point this board was in meltdown because it was believed that Huddersfield would allegedly receive 25% of the total transfer fee if we sold him on.

Perhaps Rovers deserve some credit for pulling that one off at that particularly crazy time!

When was the last time we scored 3 away from home and just as importantly conceded 0?

Last time we win 3-0 was in September against Charlton. Rhodes scored two.

Last time we win 3-0 away was in April against Leeds. Sadly Rhodes scored in that one as well. And hit the crossbar. And post.

I bet the attending Rovers fans barely looked up from their library books.

Keep trying though.

We should be putting a deadline on this deal being completed.

Now that he is all but gone this needs to happen as quickly as possible. Confirming at 9pm tomorrow means any players we might have lined up potentially falling through. Hopefully any required medical a and personal terms for prospects are already in progress or done.

Don't really want Gestede back. He doesn't fit the quick counter attacking style we're hoping to play in the future. There's too much temptation to launch it long when he's playing. He'd be OK if you're behind in the game with 15 or 20 minutes to go and plan " A " isn't working.

Still it does show things are improving at the club if nothing else. New proper gaffer in AND they get the calendar right !
