People did say that we wouldnt fill the void when Szmodics left.

And we didnt. We scored 7 less goals and no one hit double figures.

Yet everyone chipped in and weren't we didn't have 20 goals player but still finish higher in the league.ย

As above.

Everyone didnt chip in to fill the void, we scored 7 fewer goals.ย

We did better as a team but our attack was worse.

Yep, the main improvement that took us to 7th last season was we became more solid defensively.

A lot of which was down to Batth.

We did 7 goals over the course of a season isnโ€™t much. Was a way bigger spread across the team as opposed to Sammie pretty much alone. Would we want it to be better? Of course who wouldnโ€™t but the team became more balanced hence the higher position and more pointsย

It's enough to turn 7 draws into 7 wins.

These clown think we are bigger than we are. Low balling offers to try unsettle the player to force a move. Past dealings have destroyed our reputation, laughing stock of clubs and agents. The only dross we are left with is players the agents canโ€™t find other clubs for

Yes, you gave your opinion on Forshaw that you wanted him to go. Since we renewed his contract you have bent over backwards to justify it.

No good having squad players who if needed to start a few games arent up to it.

Trying to add some balance on the forum and the fact Ismael wants him here. Yes he probably starts some games but his main role will be off the bench and we have 5 options in there at least means we can rotate more

Jason Lowe should be re-signed as he would also only be a back up and has plenty of Championship experience. If thats literally what is needed. Or Corry Evans.

Now you just being a silly boy!!!

We need 1 or 2 centre backs, a right back, a right winger, a number 10 and a striker as a minimum. Then probably replacements for Travis, Brittain and Tronstad seeing as we havent bothered to even offer any new deals.

Ok thanks for answering the simple question askedย

Yes the same batth that the majority of folk on here this time last year slated and didnโ€™t wantโ€ฆwe canโ€™t predict whatโ€™s going to happen

many many fans thought once Sammie left we were doomed but we werenโ€™t thatโ€™s the point we filled the void in different waysโ€ฆ.its still filling the void

You aren't going to replace Szmodics like for like. Everything is about the team and winning as a team.ย

It's 7 goals but no surprised how much you making such a big issue of it.ย

Are we really offering that though? If anything is to go by the last transfer windows then I doubt it.ย

And was that before we spaffed 2 on Nani 2.0ย

And Eustace, who certainly got the side performing beyond the sum of its individual parts.

We scored 7 less but conceded 26 less. We didnt fill the void and people didnt chip in to make up the difference. But overall as a team we did better because we were so much stronger defensively. 3 key variables that led to that (Batth, Eustace, Beck) have now gone and Brittain may follow so lets hope that doesnt cause a regression there.

Depends on the ratio of goals to chances.

With a different team set up, it's possible/probable having only scored 7 less, that the attack actually did better. It depends on the chances created.ย

Yeah, he probably wont play much. But when he does from the start, he isnt good enough.

You speak as if it doesnt matter who is backup because they wont play much.ย

Also, one of those 7 goals would have got us into the play offs. No big deal though according to you.ย

Just stick to your guns. You dont have to defend a club decision you have clearly said that you dont agree with.

We certainly didnt create loads of chances in the season before last. We just had a player who became clinical.

There was approx 130 less goals this season than last over the divisionย

the top two scorers last season was 27 / 21

this season 19/18

if people want to argue pure black and white we scored 7 less then fine as statistically that is correct but today we didnโ€™t fill that void is wrong - we filled it in other ways other players increasing their goal tally or their assist tally. Defensively improved massively taking the heat off the players up top

arguing this point to me is silly because when you do significantly better for me itโ€™s irrelevantย

Our team changed so many times last season, can't quite remember but was our 6 game run a consistent squad?

If the team was set up more defensively, and we scored a higher ratio of goals to chances, then despite scoring fewer goals, the attack obviously did better, not worse.ย

It isn't even an argument, although I don't know whether it's true or not.ย

Don't know to be honest, I was actually meaning how the team as a whole was set up.ย

Imagine where we would have been if Sammi has stayed!

Isn't that the point?

These transfer targets are weird and there's something I'm just not grasping. We're looking at a 27 year old unproven CB from a shit league for 2-3 million? What I'm guessing is its another Tavares type approach where we've likely offered about 800k upfront with the rest heavily dependent on add-ons.ย

ย

I'm not buying that we're spending this much up front for any of our targets. As much as Gestede will probably try to dress it up that way.
