If I were Palarse, I would be ecstatic at demotion to the Conference League.

They will be heavy favourites to win it and get Europa League next season.

That is the saving grace. Conference League is entirely winnable for most premier league teams if they commit to it as Chelsea and West Ham have done previously.

Palace the last two seasons as well have been really strong in the latter part of seasons, so you could imagine them going on a bit of run in a competition like the conference league.

Who takes their place in the Europa League?

Steve Parish complaining should be a form of NHS treatment. Delightful stuff.

It seems to me for once Uefa followed their own rules and, be those rule 'right' or 'wrong', it is the responsibility of the administrative staff at whichever Club to ensure they comply. Palace failed to do so and have been reprimanded accordingly.

And yet Girona and Man City were allowed to both play in last seasons Champions League.

The City Football Group are the majority shareholders of Premier League champions City, while they also own 44.3 per cent of LaLiga club Girona. Another 16 per cent of the Spanish club is owned by Pere Guardiola, the brother of City manager Pep.

Funny how the rules never seem to apply to them.

I read there were mitigating circumstances why city and girona could play in the same competition.  Can't remember where I read it

Because it's City and they are backed by a wealthy state who are becoming more and more influential in world football..........probably.
