Lancs Telegraph comments have some more gold

Someone complaining on Jacksons review of the year that he is focusing too much on past events

Genius

Quite a long and dull article, preoccupied with past events. My first Rovers game was in the 70s and we were in the second division then. I’m proud of my club. We’ve a long history including the top prize of several league titles. The club treats the fans well and the players are down to earth and approachable. I’ll be there today, enjoying the dark humour and match day excitement. I’ll be dreaming of promotion, but not expecting it. We’ve a great top team with Rudy & Val. I believe in them.

That has to be a bot.

It reads like it was written by someone who doesn't speak English as a first language and clearly doesn't know anything about football.

What time UK was ot posted?

He did great at right wing back and he slotted perfectly adequately into that role, He understand that role clearly just by performances. He could have a 2 goals against Millwall.

Forget the loan for me, keep him here and lets develop him here.

Perfectly would be how Alebiosu came in when Brittain departed,  Litherland has done well, but to say he has slotted in perfectly is hyperbolic

If we were to develop him as Millers competition/understudy, then yes, by all means develop him here.  But the impending recall of O'Riordan suggests if he remains here for the rest of the season, he is going to be used either as a square peg in a round hole, or not at all.  In which case, both he and Rovers would benefit more from him going on loan to a club who play with a back 3 and him playing week in, week out as a right sided centre back

the way he played against Millwall in his first game, he slotted in and you didn't notice that Alebiosu wasn't available. His positional was good and we clearly worked all week on his playing there.

I think we could develop him for the rest of the season as right wing back/right centre back right now and next season. If we are staying back 3 formation team for longer than this season then lets develop him here.

terrible idea, Whilst we were at it, we may as well retrain Gueye as a deep laying midfielder & De Neve as a goalkeeper

We have made a bid for him as reported by Alan Nixon this morning

Doesnt mean that he will be signing here.

He also described Rudy Gestede as a "top spy."

Brandon Thomas-Asante started as a wide role at Salford before moving into a central role and now he is playing up front/number 10/wide role at Coventry under Lampard. So this guy could be the same. I would have like BTA here when he was at Salford

As opposed to doing the normal thing and signing an actual player for the position we need.

Logic rarely applies at this football club. And people like you seem to try and justify having loads of players in positions they are not natural in. Apparently me contesting this is "making excuses."

Haha, your negative comments about young players is constant with you, you never want to allow them to develop and always very quick to mention their flaws instead of positives

I suggested either Pickering or Ribeiro with the other one, staying and rotating with Hedges and if one is injured Powell can back that up.

just more excuses again and again to suit your overall viewpoint

Can you boys just get a room! The sexual tension is killing us!!

He has shown his worth in that role recently and I think we should develop him here as right wing back/centre back role.

Exactly. It should either be loan him out to play regularly, or keep here with a view to competing for a more natural role. If we did loan him out, it shouldnt be interpreted as a lack of faith in him or victimising an academy graduate. Either step is with a view of at some stage having him playing in his natural position for this football club.

He has done himself proud as emergency cover. But in the last 3 games, Alebiosu has been missed, as you would expect.

Lets not try and re train Litherland purely to avoid just signing an actual right wing back and allowing us to build up Litherland in his actual position.

So we should sign a right wing back to come and play a few games for us until Alebiosu returns from Africa ? I can’t see many decent players jumping at that.

What happens if Reyes Clearly signs and plays very well for us, will you still moan then?

In fairness, whichever youngster we sign for right wing back over will be first choice next season when Alebiosu is sold, and in the interim 6 months will be earning more than they would in a whatever European minor division we pluck them from

Plenty on here were excited by the summer.

Really?

I thought so (though obviously the majority including me were not persuaded) -perhaps plenty was the wrong word but half a dozen persistent voices saying that they were excited by all the changes. I remember arguing with them 🙂

Sounds like another De Neve to me.

Nothing about this makes sense.

Why are we even trying to sign a winger when we dont play with wingers?

It wont happen anyway, I think thats pretty clear.

How can you attempt to play with wingers if you haven't got any?

We tried for a big chunk of the season.

Ismael has mentioned for example signing a wing back as if we will be playing 352 going forward. Hence why I am asking, why would we sign a winger when our current formation doesnt include wingers?

As I suspect you know and are just being obtrusive.

You'd basically get at least 20 minutes a match minimum if you signed as a RWB (obviously when you have 2 matches a week you probably flip that over so you get 70 minutes on the Tues / Weds). It's such a demanding role - you can see Alebiosu is often absolutely goosed towards the end of the match - that realistically 2 of your subs each match should be replacing the R/LWBs.

Great counter argument.

Not obtrusive, just using logic.

Makes absolutely zero sense unless we don't rate him at all and San Diego have promised a pretty penny.

$4.26 and some fish & chips 😉

Apparently its the sell on % after he makes the permanent move that makes the deal attractive

And what happens if Rovers see him playing up front in a 2 similar to what Thomas-Asante did? Have you ever thought of that?.
