  1. I don't know what happened to the Blackburn thread, but recently our lovely town made the national news for being the 'take-away capital of the UK' along with the embarrassing yet unsurprising statistic that 70% of people in the town are overweight/obese. Poundland Anyway, with that in mind I want to ask if there are any decent fish and chip places (take-away) around here any more - especially ones where the fish batter doesn't make up 50% of the 'fish' and especially ones where the chips aren't a soggy mess.

    Slow Build?

I've wanted to post this for a while, but I was waiting for an upturn in form, so it didn't get lost in all the (probably justified) manager and team bashing that go along with bad performances and results. So before a possible Brentbashing this Saturday (eeek): Referring to past comments about the direction Rovers are supposedly heading in. What exactly does a Slow Build mean? Has this ever been explained? Does it refer to building Rovers Financially or Team Progression on the Pitch. As those 2 things are contradictory - as 'making money' would imply selling your best players for a profit which would of course weaken the team. If it's about long term team progression, then how exactly does signing loan players that see their future elsewhere (and ones we blatantly cannot afford anyway) fit into this? ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I watched the Jimmy Greaves documentary last night (I thought he was just someone that was on TV back in the late 80s and early 90s - Saint & Greavsie on ITV for me - before Sky killed everything). But supposedly he also kicked a ball around way back before professional football was invented. Anyway, it was basically an Obituary. I had to look the guy up. ๐Ÿ˜‘

    European Champions League 2019/20

It's February 2020. There's a LONG way to go in this tie yet, but so far Liverpool are playing like they aren't used to playing decent teams. ๐Ÿ˜Š #TinPotPremierLeague

Isn't Johnson a 'climate denier'? It would look pretty hypocritical on his part to visit flood disaster zones and the like. Especially considering the Tories current environmental policies, including ripping down ancient woodlands, building on greenbelt lands, making up mumbo jumbo dates regarding future climate goals whilst at the same time throwing their appalling weight behind such things as fracking and spending billions of UK tax-payers money on Global fossil fuel expansion.

The much loved International Break is upon us . . . So what better time than to start a new England thread . . .especially since it also signifies the start of some kind of new International Carabao Cup . . or something. . . See what the heck that is here and only waste 1min 38secs of your life in the process. It's also got it's very own anthem to rival any God of War Playstation game. I see Southgate was bemoaning the lack of English players in the Premiership the other day. Things look pretty grim for the supposed 'new golden generation'. I suspect most of the kids that played in and won the under-age International tournaments recently will simply fall by the wayside. Case in point, the article states that Ruben Loftus-Cheek has only played 22 competitive minutes for Chelsea since the world cup (and since the article was written - he only played 11 minutes more as a sub vs Bournemouth at home). If you're only getting 11 minutes when you're playing at home against one of the 'weak' teams in the Premiership. . . it doesn't bode well for the future. Southgate says he'll have to look to The Championship for England players. So as long as the expected Northern Winter kicks in and the BBQ has to go away until June - what chances Bradley Dack making the squad in the not too distant future? I see sicknote has already pulled out of the squad. Probably the usual lies by the usual foreign England hating managers. A bad back is a great one to use if you want to skive off work btw as even doctors can't prove or disprove it. So the revised England squad for the Water buffalo league with a bizarre nondescript friendly thrown into the mix is: Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Alex McCarthy (Southampton) Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Joe Gomez (Liverpool), Harry Maguire (Leicester City) Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Luke Shaw (Manchester United), John Stones (Manchester City), James Tarkowski (Burnley), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham Hotspur), Kyle Walker (Manchester City) Midfielders: Dele Alli (Tottenham Hotspur), Eric Dier (Tottenham Hotspur), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Liverpool), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea) Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal) Are you getting excited yet? Or will you simply be spending all your time trolling Twitter and Instagram looking for pictures of Sterling riding a show pony?

That was the best T20 series ever. Normally there's a game ruined by D/L or an easy victory somewhere.

If we could cut our squad down to 14 players Tony T wouldn't be so bad after all.

    Would you sign Christian Walton

You would think yes. Especially given the last few games AND some of the appalling goalkeeping that's been on display the last couple of games elsewhere in the Championship (including Raya).

    Ben Brereton

I think it's an indication of how little people have come to expect from our marquee signing that anything other than falling over is considered promising. As you say, that running the ball out of play was amateurish and the only other things he did were slicing the ball wide and handball controlling it allowing Charlton to get possession of the ball late on. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

What a difference a year (and a bit) makes. It wasn't that long ago when he received 'Poor man's Bradley Dack' banter at Ewood after an anonymous performance.
