  1. Last January we were a few points off the top 6. Throwing a few hundred grand on wages of a couple of solid defenders for 4 months MIGHT have been enough to sustain the run and get into play-offs. Instead we capitulated at the back and dropped away. You don't get these chances very often.
  2. 2-0 to Fulham Tosin on the bench. Gallagher on the wing. Evans in for Travis.
  3. Maybe £1m in total including wages. Not a long term sustainable strategy.
  4. I’ve got a hunch that Gallagher is going to be crowbarred into the team no matter what this season. That is despite him not being a winger and Danny Graham being player of the year last year.
  5. Well the European Scout position is up on the Rovers jobs board; closing date 12th Aug, so get your CVs in. https://www.rovers.co.uk/club/job-vacancies/ I take that as they've just let someone go.
  6. It's classic Mowbray overthinking it and concentrating on the opposition. I was surprised seeing Armstrong on the left too, I don't think he played there at all during pre season.
  7. I’ve been banging on about needing a left back since we were last relegated, so nothing changed in that respect. Nyambe needs to play at right back. The full back problem is made worse by Mowbray’s formation. Without any proper wingers, the full backs get less protection, plus are expected to contribute to the attack. This works at Liverpool when you’ve got international quality full backs, but not with who we’ve got.
  8. Surprised no Tosin playing for Rovers to get some minutes in.
  9. I think Mowbray will want to put Tosin at right back, dilemma is that he came out straight away and said he doesn't want to play there...
  10. Mowbray bemoaning the lack of quality in the final third, but doesn't play Rothwell. Makes no sense.
  11. Too early to go back to the old playing style? Worked at the end of last season.
  12. I would play him too, but if Mowbray isn't going to play him then he'll end up leaving sooner or later.
  13. With Costello coming through, I'd be tempted to sell Nyambe, should get a couple of milion, put the money into the team. No point wasting him on the bench whilst his contract runs down.
  14. Hopefully Gallagher gets off to a flyer today ??️
  15. Ewood isn't the most accessible ground, I'm just wondering what the club are doing to make it easier to get to/from the ground? If you're advertising in Preston area and wider, how are these people expected to get to Ewood? You can drive but end up parking miles away on a housing estate (and then you can't drink). Other clubs do shuttle buses into town. Why not try something to/from Blackburn station?
  16. Mowbray talking about his new style in the LT. Interesting point in the comments section, we know this style of play failed badly in L1, it was also the style of play that got us relegated from the Championship when Mowbray tried it when he took over. That team had Gallagher and Graham in too.
  17. I’m think the Tombola will give: Walton Bennett-Lennihan-Mulgrew-Downing Armstrong-Evans-Travis-Johnson Dack Graham
  18. From Tosin: “I’ve not come here to play right back, I’m not a right back. I want to play centre half," he saiid. “It was my first season out on loan getting senior games, so I enjoyed it, but I see myself as a centre half." So we still need to sign a right back if Mowbray doesn't rate Nyambe.
  19. It will be a shame if we don’t sign a tough, no-nonsense, hard as nails centre half. Come winter when we’re throwing away late points like we did last season, we’ll regret it.
  20. No way that Blackpool have £500k to throw at Nuttall. I’d rather he go on loan.
  21. How does it differ to where he usually plays?
