I wouldn't think Downing will be used in an attacking place ahead of Rothwell and Chapman. But how many late goals did we give away last season? Someone with experience and able to keep the ball will help when we're under pressure. We were losing our heads last season in the last 5/10 mins.

Just catching up, but I'm okay with the Downing signing if you take it as Conway out Downing in, which is an upgrade. Chapman was positive that he could carry on learning from SD and I like the sound of Boro fans saying he rarely gives the ball away. We need wingers if we're going to cease playing strikers on the wing. Now to sort out the defence with 2xCB and a LB. Add a striker and a central midfielder and we'll be looking good.

As above it was in the Blackburn Rovers end of year accounts (which are audited) said we had made transfers last summer of £7.6m. This is the minimum we committed. So we're paying at least £5.25m. We don't know how quickly this number rises with appearances etc.

Any idea what sort of budget Tony got when he was in India? I suspect it will be like previous years' where it is a very small budget, until it is too late and we've missed all the best targets (see Brereton signing). I'm expecting a flurry of Gladwin-esque signings in early summer to fill out the squad, followed maybe by some bigger signings at the end of the window.

Surprising stat that out of all clubs playing across the 4 league divisions in 18/19, there are only 9 that haven't played at the new Wembley Stadium, Rovers being one of the them. Opened in 2007. I guess there are a lot of play-offs and semi-finals played there. Still thought there would be more that haven't been. Before anyone says it, there are only 2 clubs with a game against Spurs as their only visit.

Rich Sharpe today thinks that we’ll keep hold of Dack. I was thinking that they (Mowbray and Waggot) were hoping to sell him and use the money to build and change system. Will all depend on what they hear in India, whether addition money is available or whether we need to sell Dack to fund transfers.

I think we need: 1. Center back 2. Left back 3. Central midfielder 4. Striker 5. Winger (if/when Chapman gets injured, we'll be back to not having any proper wingers in the squad)

Retained list 2018/2019 Season

Put Mulgrew next to someone who is great in the air and he'd be fine. You can't discount the impact of the set-pieces. Where would we be without those goals last season and this season? -
How much better does that shade of blue look on the shirt! Hopefully back to something similar next year. Surely can't be hard to get some blue shorts that match too.

2018/19 Season Reviews/Conclusions

Putting the Brereton signing aside, which for value for money has been a disaster and looks like a poor decision. Apart from that, finishing the season in a respectable mid-table position is a decent return to the Championship, I do think we missed an opportunity in the January window to bring in a few loan players to push for play-offs. Just a boost of a couple of fresh players could have kept our run going. Mowbray overall took too long to realise that some of our League One players weren't good enough. Travis and Rothwell were massively under-used. Reed was played out of position too much. We really need to sign some players to fit into the formation that Mowbray wants to play. It has been round pegs in square holes all season with our 'wide forwards'. -

The usual excuse around this time of year is that they don't know what league we're going to be in, so the STs have to wait. Funny that this year, we know exactly where we are going to be next year, yet nothing... This has gone on year after year. Does anyone actually think that Mowbray or SW stand in front of the Loons and say "guys we would be better getting STs on sale earlier"? I genuinely don't think it is Venkys doing this deliberately, its just that they don't know any better, and no-one has had the courage to contradict their ways of doing things. -
Interesting that Norwich’s ‘big money’ last summer signings weren’t necessarily the players that fired them to promotion. No Marshall or Rhodes in the team last night. That Hernandez only joined (on a free) in January.
-
It was only about 3 months ago when Mowbray said we didn't have any European scouts. As much as anything else it's Norwich's transfer success that has got them up. That's the model that everyone needs to follow.
-
God awful yet again. Not the only one. But he's the only one that cost £6m.
-
Brereton cost more than all of Norwich's signings did last summer. Sickener.
-
Sound like a broken record but we need a proper left back! Bell just not good enough.
-
Seriously. What has Nyambe done wrong? I think that when he was playing he was always one of our best players. How is Bennett keeping him out of the team?

The co-commentator is ok. But the main guy hasn't mentioned rovers at all. Like listening to Radio Norfolk.

Pukki is a bit of an idiot really.

Smallwood dropped for 4 games. 4 wins in a row. No coincidence. It's just a shame the penny only dropped for Tony after we'd missed out on the playoffs.

Season Tickets 2019/2020

Any news on season tickets? The usual excuse of not knowing what division we’ll be in can’t be rolled out this year. -
I won’t be holding my breath for Mowbray giving Buckley/Butterworth/Chapman much of a chance next season. Lest we forget that Travis only got a continued run in the side because Smallwood got a 3 game ban. Otherwise he would probably have been loaned out in Jan.
-
I’d be interested to know whether it was the plan all along for us to mainly sign development squad players rather than first team players since promotion. Johnson must be pleased that Mowbray keeps signing players for him. Shame that this approach is not something made obvious to supporters with the way they are announced as first team players.
-
Brereton has had plenty of chances. I'd rather us give Butterworth/Buckley a chance to see if they can cut it.

Starts with Joe ends with Rothwell.
