  1. It's giving them a solid excuse. Put it this way I'd be surprised to see us spend £5 or £7m on a striker again. It'd be a shocker if they spent £1m.
  2. They've spent millions in the past, but I don't think the issue right now is spending millions of quid - a couple of hundred grand seems like a stretch for Rovers at the moment thanks to FFP. How the hell is a club supposed to attract fans back to the stadium if they can't invest in the product? We have the fit & proper rule to make sure that only the very worst owners take over football clubs, and FFP to make sure we stay where we fall.
  3. May as well close the fecking doors. Most clubs are just making up the numbers these days. The English leagues should govern themselves. F*** UEFA. Doesn't Brexit carry any benefits?
  4. FFP is nonsensical. We're going to stop you from spending money, in a business that relies on spending a shedload of money. And that way, because you can't spend money your club will progressively suffer from a lack of investment. We're protecting you from quickly destroying your club by slowly destroying your club. Platini may have been aquitted of fraud but he's still a World class dickhead.
  5. Didn't Preston want him a few months back?
  6. You'd think the Malmo links would be valid, I can't see JDT not wanting their best players.
  7. He played in one FA cup match and 11 minutes in the Premier League for Cardiff (who went on to be relegated). I've seen Celtic fans say he's shit but that sounds like sour grapes to me for him scoring against them in the CL. He only played four games for Celtic and scored two.
  8. Having an experienced 32 year old covering midfield, right back and up front isn't such a bad thing. Birmancevic is one I'm sure JDT will want, but will he be backed? Looks a very good player who hasn't hit his prime yet.
  9. He's more of a versatile winger than a striker. Has played up front. Looks a good player and bags of experience but he's 32 in September. Might be handy for a season or two if we can get him cheap.
  10. It’s a friendly, he’s lacking match sharpness. Those are two excuses we could attribute to Gallagher but we know we’d be kidding ourselves.
  11. Regarding the first match, sounds like Rovers had a lot of shots but couldn’t score. I wouldn’t be surprised if that carries on into the season if we don’t sign a few players.
  12. Skint or mismanaged on a business level? I'd say both.
  13. Which is why TM’s journey was so ludicrous.
  14. If we'd just lost Rothwell, Lenihan and Nyambe I'd be inclined to agree with you, but we haven't. I'd say we were more dependent on Van Hecke and Diaz 2021 than any of those three.
  15. Spend big on a “project” in Brereton, put Ayala on top wages, spend £5m on Gallagher and then give him a new contract. Give various useless players new contracts over the years and don’t play them. Don’t give contracts to players worth something and let them walk away for nothing… But whatever you do, DON’T BREAK THE WAGE STRUCtURE!!!! Waste money but don’t waste money, the Venky motto.
  16. The same Sheffield United whose CEO has been desperately slashing their wage bill.
  17. I'm surprised that some people are fine with this and expecting youth players to step up. I've seen some people saying even if there's a last minute sale of Brereton we'll be fine because Markanday is going to be a superstar.
  18. It's a terrible start to what's been rumoured to be a big week. I hope by weekend it's looking more positive or all of GB's words will just seem like more hot air.
  19. You can't justify losing out on this one. The lad is 23 year old and has worked with our manager. Venkys want to buy quality young players and sell on for a profit so it fits the transfer strategy perfectly. You break the bank for that kind of signing as it'll reap rewards later. Although they have parachute payments, it's still Sheffield Utd so they won't be offering huge wages. Especially as their CEO has recently said he doesn't want high earners at the club and has just got rid of them all. Someone f**** up somewhere but it's no surprise. Same old.
  20. And Van Hecke, Khadra, and a striker. Edit: if we're doing wishlists, get someone to replace Pickering too.
  21. If he can stay fit, Phil Jones would be a top player in this division.
  22. Agreed. If a transfer link was posted I'd miss it due to all this. They've gone, yes it's idiotic, let's move on.
