  1. to be fair even if he had score the Pen in the 1st leg, Courtney would have played on in the 2nd leg till Palace got a 4th
  2. Just been looking for that this is from Wikipedia Before the 1999–2000 season away goals were used as a tie-breaker after extra time had been played, however, this was abolished following a club initiative launched by then-Ipswich Town chairman David Sheepshanks, after his club had twice lost on away goals in 1997 and 1999.[2] Since then away goals have played no part in the play-off system. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League_play-offs Don't remember this proposal which was rejected, this is similar to the system that they use in Aus for the A league A change to the format of the play-offs was proposed by Crystal Palace chief executive Phil Alexander in 2003. Alexander recommended expanding the number of teams in each play-off series from four to six, providing more clubs with a chance at promotion. Additionally, the two-legged semi-finals would have been replaced by one-off quarter-final and semi-final games, both of which would give home advantage to the team that finished higher during the league season. The two highest placed clubs in the play-off series would advance directly to the semi-final, while the other four clubs would contest the quarter-final
  3. I think they did away with the away goals rule for play offs, extra time and pens now I think
  4. One that's possibly for you Bacup Blue, Aus band the Bennies in the UK in October (Monday 10th Ritz in Manchester) , Highly recommended live (Warning explicit lyrics) http://www.thebennies.com.au
  5. Died in the early 90's. After Everton he went to Stoke , also played in the US, South Africa and Halifax before finishing his playing career at Gt Harwood and another short spell in South Africa? Might be getting him mixed up with another ex Rovers player but think he had a Pie shop at the bottom of Griffin St ( Griffin pub end) early - mid seventies, used to go there a lot as a kid they did apple pie and custard as a special on Friday tea times and Saturday dinner
  6. Remember reading something a while ago (and if I remember rightly) that his brother or sister was quite ill and the family decided to move to California for the sunshine , think he was about 5 when they moved. Maybe oldjamfan can shed some light on the above
  7. Another little known one, starred in every episode of one of arguably the big US tv shows of the seventies and all spin off movies (6), might not know the name but the face? the guy above "grandma" and now a respected guitarist / musician Jon Walmsley https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jon_Walmsley http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0909455/
  8. He did have a Red or Dead shop at one stage (early eighties) across from where the Library /North Bar was and a small unit where they manufactured somewhere else in Blackburn Edit: Moved to Blackburn when he was 7 according to thishttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/celebritynews/my-perfect-weekend/10577161/My-perfect-weekend-Wayne-Hemingway-designer-and-youth-ambassador.html
  9. Surely John Noel Nichols gets a shout, maybe not the name but his invention, Vimto
  10. Think there will be a couple of 65 year old French ladies of the night that are hoping he will be at the Tournament
  11. One of the artists impressions of one landing side of the new Perth cable car system, is it just me or does anybody else think the Sculpture part might not be suitable for a public area ? http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/cable-car-plan-to-cut-perth-cbd-congestion-20150919-gjqfnp.html
  12. Saw Charlatans on Wednesday night, in good form, new album is growing on me. Ash tonight and Buzzcocks Wednesday , quite a busy schedule in Perth for a change
  13. The only places that I can remember making John Bulls when I was still in the Uk was Bryan St (as above) , William St Chippy and the one on Shorrock Lane. The best ones I remember where from Bolton Road (before it became a Chinese). Tried making them myself but turned it a floating mass of batter mince and potato all avoiding each other As for size believe the ideal should be when inserted into a barm cake there should be at least a two inch gap between the top and bottom of the barm cake when squashed down with no over hang at the sides until first bite
  14. Rankin-Costello what a great name for a late 70's/early 80's cover band who do the songs in a New Wave/ Ska style
  15. Bet the person that signed the contract on behalf of the club didn't do to badly out of it as well
  16. Don't think he did too bad after leaving Rovers , Marseille and Galatasary, and did score more goals in his few games (6?) for us than Browny has managed Edit : Quick search, Now Sporting Director at Dijon FCO https://www.linkedin.com/pub/s%C3%A9bastien-perez/a6/372/104 http://www.bienpublic.com/sport-local/2015/06/05/sebastien-perez-(dfco)-bien-plus-qu-un-job-d-ete
  17. Not liking the new player for live commentary, before you could click a button to listen to opposition commentary, now you have to log into oppositions site to listen to it then log out when game as finished and in to Rovers player to hear the humourous after dinner speech
  18. Saw hook and the light early this year doing the Brotherhood and low life albums with a short JD set as an opener and was a great night , Quite a few of the songs were a lot better than I've heard them played live before and good to hear some ones rarely played live, did not get the impression of somebody going through the motions, which is exactly what I felt when watching the new New Order a couple of years ago. Only criticism is that Hooky is not doing any new stuff, but might happen now Monaco is basically back together . Was lucky to be around for both JD an NO first time round and don't blame hook one bit doing what he his doing imo better than before, surprised at the mix of the audience over here would say about 50/50 under 25's and older end (a large percent ex pats and few familiar faces that I didn't know were over here)
  19. Agree the original Danish/ Swedish the bridge is excellent , the American one called the same, drawn out to hell and weak despite being promising in the early episodes
  20. Has anybody watched Tusk (2014) directed by Kevin Smith . Quite a shallow but strange plot based on a gumtree ad mentioned in one of Smith's podcasts. Knew nothing of the film previously and it came on one of the movie channels, quite dark humour and at the end left me thinking WTF ,it was either quietly brilliant or downright crap. Michael Parks plays his part well and there is a cameo from Johnny Depp which personally thought didn't work Would advise not to read about the film before watching as it will spoil the strangeness
  21. Looking at the positives a possible new cup competition that Rovers have never played in that we can forfeit in the first round.
  22. Hope they bought them from Coles Supermarket! https://youtu.be/yLGJttfhht4 Maybe mince before the scones? https://youtu.be/pniH2-r6dZU
  23. It mentions the glass floor in I presume the tower you are talking about here , http://www.cntower.ca/en-ca/plan-your-visit/attractions/glass-floor.html Here you can see the views from the Auckland one. https://www.skycityauckland.co.nz/attractions/sky-tower/explore-the-sky-tower/views-from-the-tower/ which has a couple of glass panels in the floor, the angle of the windows was enough to put me off going anywhere near them, needless to say doing the walk around outside didn't appeal to me in the slightest:)
