  1. Maybe the academy coaches should take a look at This One or two girls on there that could show the men, how it's done.
  2. Any more posts like the last one 5 mins ago Mr Wakefielddrawks, could result in a warning.
  3. Like I said - rise above it. 99% of posters on here, are nothing like their alter egos on here. Pretty sure of that.
  4. There is only the posters involved in all this, that can do anything about it. Raise the quality of your posts guys. Don't get dragged down to their level.
  5. Maybe that goes to prove that you can't take players at 8, 9 and 10 years old and develop them into footballers. Maybe just maybe, they have to have the talent in the first place. That might not show until they are a lot older. So do we really need academies where the whole idea is to nurture and educate players from the age of 8 or 9. Just stimulating the debate a bit.
  6. He was brought from Ireland by Dalglish and became part of the youth team before the academy was set up. As for the academies, I'm yet to be convinced that they bring anyone through, that wouldn't have come through under the old youth set up. Did England, Pickering, Newton, Clayton, Douglas need an academy?
  7. Yes, but be fair - we gave Basil the whole Darwen end and they only brought about 50 fans. No wonder the gate was down.
  8. His all round play has been good - sometimes excellent. The only problem is that he doesn't look like scoring. That seems to go against his previous record, maybe that horrific looking injury did more harm than we realise.
  9. The harm could be that the younger players aren't actually as good as the established players, even when the established players are going through a bad patch. You always get this argument when results aren't going well. Throwing youngsters who have been nowhere the squad, at the problem doesn't work. Now if there are a few Mike England's or Fred Pickerings around Brockhall somewhere, then fair enough.
  10. Whether Gray or McEvely are good enough, has no bearing whatsoever on Andy Taylors' abilities.
  11. Hmm, Taylor is at Crewe because he needs to prove that he can put in exceptional performances at that level. He did OK at Blackpool, but wasn't outstanding as you would expect him to be, if he were good enough to mark players like Ronaldo, Lennon, SWP, etc, etc. Quite simply, I don't see that Peters' performances have put many to shame. He's done OK as a sub, but done little as a starter.
  12. padihampedro, there is a feyenoord thread that covers these sort of things, so please use that - and oh, please don't use capitals. thanks.
  13. and shook the referees hand on the way off!
  14. From the official site
  15. Phil, I'm amazed as to how many times you bring the government into this. You must have a hard time getting through life with a complex like that.
  16. Last nights attendance doesn't really tell the whole story. OK, prices were cheap = poor gate. However against Bolton prices were cheap = good gate. It's down to more than merely prices. Other factors come into it.
  17. We got very lucky last night. IMO, if Basel had scored first, we wouldn't have won - and they certainly should have scored first. They caught us cold. Second half performance was very good though, so all in all a very happy bunny here. A manager, chairman and team who want to win in ALL competitions. I keep having to pinch myself and thinking that I could have been a North ender! Felt a bit sorry for Basel, I didn't think they deserved that scoreline, plus their sponsor is a bit close to my heart.
  18. The only other slight difference Tris, was that the Salzburg game was a "winner goes into the group stage game". Last night was a group game, not quite the same appeal.
  19. Care to explain how that would work?
  20. More tax on petrol then? I'll bet somewhere along the line, you've complained about that.
  21. Looks like I'm in the minority here. The argument "would you rather have another player, or a new stand" will always be there. Fans will always want a new player first. Some time or other, rovers are going to have to replace the riverside. Might as well start looking again for investment - now.
