Competition Rovers Player of the Year
Bigdoggsteel replied to RoversClitheroe's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I was wondering if they would! For me the best goals were Rothwells yesterday, Dacks against Carlisle or Reeds against West Brom. I think Dacks was the best, just it was against poorer opposition. The drag before the shot was lovely. -

Imagine we were in Wigan position now. They are relying on Rotherham not winning. I think Wigan have Leeds next as well. -

They will get one and Wigan will collapse. Have faith lads. -
Heard from a reliable source who knows Stokes that he is being paid £18,000 a week over there... IN CASH. Buys high end stuff over there like Rolexes and brings them back to sell. What an odd career he has had. Clearly a bit of head case. The thing is he has talent. They had huge hopes for him at Arsenal.

Norwich are the masters of late goals. I see a 1-2 turnaround here -

I would say planning for next year should include chasing results. Get Buckley, Butterworth and Davenport in. It just feels like we have a lot of players who need game time, so it's up to Mowbray to only use those who are part of his plans. I would love to know who he would be happy enough to let leave. As for league position, 12th looks much better than 17th and I don't see how a winning run at anytime could be frustrating. -
Damien Duff Hangs Up His Boots
Bigdoggsteel replied to jim mk2's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
You could make the case for Berg, but Hendry was well past his best when Duff played with him. Le saux, sure, but as you say he barely played with him(if he did at all). Harte did start left back in a team that almost won the premier league and also got to a champions league semi. He was a good left back, savage set piece delivery, he was just a bit slow. Andy Cole, ya, you could make that case but zamora did play well when Duff was there and they did make a uefa cup final. I'm surprised Cole didn't get a mention. It looked like they linked up really well together. Tugay over Demebele, absolutely , although I'm sure many would disagree. Literally completely opposite types of player. Friedel over Schawrzer, deffo. It is disappointing he didn't mention rovers players, but some of the better ones he either played with very little or were past his best when he did. I actually think he could and should have stuck Jansen in there over Villa. Jansen was in his prime when Duff played with him, at a much better standard than he played with Villa. I would like to hear him speak in more detail about his time at Rovers. It's where he made his name and got the move of his life from. -
Damien Duff Hangs Up His Boots

Well there is the team. 2 Fulham players who have had top level Premier league careers. All the Irish players had top Premier league careers. Dunne probably is the most controversial, but he was immense for Ireland. You tell me the rovers players he played with that make that team. I think you have the blue and white tinted spectacles on -

He did, but they weren't league winning sides, so I'm yet to see Friedel aside, a player who he definitely should have put in. -

Poor by Raya for their goal. He needs to get stronger over the summer. He's beaten to the ball too easy at times. I think Lenihan gave him a bollocking after it by the looks of it. Pity Dack missed the one on one. If he gets to 20 this season, thats impressive his first season. Especially considering he can play better and more consistantly. -

That Fulham team got to the uefa Cup final. It would have been good if he mentioned a rovers player for sure, but he played with a lot of world class players. At least he didn't name Danny Murphy -

At least 7 of them were well past their best when Duff played with them. I don't think he has anything against rovers. He's just kind of a subdued guy. He doesn't really get excited about anything. He never mentions Chelsea either and he won the league there. -

Well he was converted to a left back, so I can't see why he can't be converted back. We still need another centre half for sure though -

Williams said in an interview the other day thay its good playing with Lenihan as they can shout at each other and then it's forgotten. I always got the impression Lenihan was nervous about shouting at Mulgrew and I just don't think Mulgrew is vocal enough himself. -

I think our wins are more to do with Mulgrew now playing than even Rothwell playing. We have been playing with a liability of a defender for months. A good end to the season. Top half finish not out of the question at all. -

Ya the guy Mowbray signed is doing really well. Another one to add to the "good signing" category -
