  1. Those criticising Mowbray for not playing Rothwell more, don't forget to put Rothwell in the "great Tony Mowbray signings" when that conversation comes up! What a goal. Absolute beauty. We have a real player here for next season.
  2. He has, but I think age and injuries have caught up with him. That's why he is playing centre half. Still, as I said, I would like to see it just out of interest
  3. Rothwell, Armstrong AND Dack behind Graham.. Me likey
  4. Williams is a much better defender than Mulgrew. Physical and no nonsense. Mulgrew is just back from injury and has been awful in his last few games. I would have been more unhappy if he came straight back in!
  5. I think he would get crucified against athletic runners, but it would be interesting to see in a dead rubber game
  6. It will be Bennett to the wing and Nyambe to right back. 100%
  7. It's disappointing he didn't pick any rovers players, but who would he realistically pick? Outside Friedel and Tugay I can't think of any. The Friedel one is realistic, but I'd say he played with some savage centre midfielders. Off the top of my head Roy Keane, Lampard and Makelele. Who did he pick? And ya, obviously Richard Dunne is better than Carvalho ?
  8. Ya, pretty much. I don't think anyone else remembered it though. Maybe Liam Feeney
  9. He was Mowbrays signing. How would he be "the owners signing"? That would mean they or someone else would have an idea about young English players. They don't. What I do find odd is that our business happened so late, so what I do suspect is there was only money released late. I could be wrong on that, but it would add up.
  10. I sleep in nothing but my 97/98 away jersey, so fire away. What happens in Blackburn, stays in Blackburn ? As long as you're not holding a blunt instrument over my head I don't mind *insert ooh matron picture here*
  11. Just watched the highlights of us beating them 3-1 under Bowyer at their place. Baptiste, Gestede (what a header) and Rhodes (what a finish) our scorers. We actually had some talent then and we didn't realise it. Cairney, Duffy, Marshall, olssons and a couple more. Another thing that struck me, what an underwhelming career Rhodes has had since leaving. I honestly thought that if a good Premier league team took a chance on him and got ball into him, he would bang them in. I'd say he is pretty much done now as far as playing Premier league is concerned.
  12. No, I'm in Dublin. Won't be over for tomorrow's game unfortunately. Need to get over more next year.
  13. But these would be better cowboys. The club isn't coming back into local ownership anytime soon.
  14. Ya, the Ferdinand link was mentioned. He's an English Roy Keane when it comes to management I think. Short-term success built off demanding high standards, but ultimately ends up falling out with players who don't show the same desire and effort he did. Rinse and repeat.
  15. That makes no sense. You are aware who owns the club now? When those guys buy clubs, they pull out all the stops to make them a success. The best players, best managers and best training facilities.
  16. Tim Sherwood gone into clear front runner for the QPR job!
  17. Armstrong frustrates the hell out of me. He reminds me of Shane Long. Both are quick, Long is stronger and better in the air, Armstrong the better finisher, but they both suffer from the same condition where the more time they have in front of goal to think about what to do, the worse they do. Not ideal for a striker. I find Armstrong's body language and work rate pretty questionable at times too. Which is why I find Mowbarys comments about him v say Rothwell to be odd. I don't see a huge difference defensively. As said by @ewoodace above, he really just had one good month. A really good month, which was more than plenty of others in the squad. I just have my doubts if he will ever be consistent at this level.
  18. I think it's crazy that season tickets go on sale so late. What is the reason for this does anyone know? It just seems so unnecessary. Surely the longer they are on sale, the more potential there is for them to be sold.
  19. Not making signings in January was certainly a mistake, however , Brereton or not, Mowbray says we had money to spend in January. No one has ever said that signing Brereton impacted on what we would do in January.
  20. Overall I wouldn't say he wrecked it as most would have taken consolidation at the start of the season. Mistakes made no doubt, but "wrecked?". Nah.
  21. Ya, it would be so annoying having all those good players
  22. Feckin hell. The were offered a get out of jail free card after a year and refused. The fools.
  23. There will always be some who are too stubborn to admit they were wrong and go to any lengths to maintain that. I am sure they have played amazing and entertaining football all year. Just haven't gotten the breaks lol
  24. I would say you are in a tiny minority there
  25. It will be Nyambe for Bennett and Bennett for Conway if Conway isn't fit. I am sure of that.
