  1. Ya, they buy players who excel at lower and non league level ,hoping to turn a profit. They could have worse owners, but I am not sure I would want be a fan of his approach myself. When it comes to Twitter usage, he is a bit of a mini Donald Trump
  2. It's an interesting approach, that's for sure. I wonder what the general consensus is among their fans? I follow him, so I see how he communicates with them. It is very transparent, that's for sure. I have just noticed a few times that in the heat of the moment after games they have lost, he has hung players out to dry. I am not sure that is a good idea. When we played them at home at the end of last season, after the game he tweeted something along the lines of "experienced defenders who should do better, let us down again. This will be sorted during the summer". I would imagine it was aimed at Taylor who slipped for Dacks 1st goal. Losing that did rule them out of getting a play-off spot, but I thought that was more like a comment a fan would write on a message board as opposed to the owner of the club. I suppose some fans thought the comment was fair enough.
  3. Plenty on here disagreed on that with regards to Rhodes. I liked Rhodes, but in the modern game I think managers are looking for players with other strings in their bows such as strength and/or pace
  4. ? Not this time I was just pointing out what we are competing with budget wise
  5. This is the Blackburn rovers message board. Are you sure you're in the right place?
  6. No. It was a completly generic post about a player joining a club in our division for big money
  7. I hope so. Even 5 or 10 per cent would be great. I would imagine he would be moving for near enough 20 million. Who would have thought that out of him, Rhodes and Gestede, King would go on to eclipse them all
  8. Stoke bid 15 million for Ritchie at Newcastle and are offering him 4 million a year. Would be a good signing for us ?
  9. Akpan has signed for Bradford. Managed to get 1 more season above his level last year fair play to him. He should have found out who J-Lowes agent is ,or better still Steele. He would be signing for Madrid.
  10. True and I doubt very much Lenihan signed a 4 year deal on 10,000 a week. Can't see Dack signing for that much either.
  11. It seems the bigger the clubs, the more boring and generic the programs get. I suppose at the end of the day with regards to revenue from fans, everything is just window dressing outside of getting bums on seats week in, week out.
  12. Nothing worse. It's the same at music festivals. Just give me my pint! 10,000 per minute. The future is now. I wonder how they manage that? Now we are cutting to the core of the issue that really matter
  13. Is there any football stadium where this is actually possible? 20-30 min queue at most stadiums I have been at.
  14. As long as the money doesn't go to Lee Grooby ??
  15. Some very good, practical suggestions there. Just on the following Matchday programme- Do you think people would buy a match day program though? There was a segment on the radio about it here the other day, which was interesting. For league of Ireland , GAA or international game here they usually cost around €5. I think that is a bit much, but it would be hard to manufacture a good one for less. The Rovers fanzine is apparently doing well though? What can an official program be only bland and generic though? I bought the one at Ireands play-off drubbing to Denmark, full of ads with absolutely nothing of interest in it. Surcharge- Do you really think people don't turn up late to save 3 pounds? Is this money not to pay the wages of whoever works in the ticket office? Merchandise- I am trying to buy the 94/95 kit which is advertised on the online store but am unable to. They told em they don't have a manufacturer. This annoying. I totally agree about this seasons jersey. Hurry up already!
  16. Is there any way the club could raise revenue from the fan base without there being uproar?
  17. Quotes from Lenihan. Hopefully this puts the "he can/should be playing center midfield" discussion to bed Lenihan also admits he sees himself very much as a centre back having featured in midfield during the early part of his career. The central midfielder debate has gone now, I think,” the Irishman said. “The manager certainly sees me as a centre half now, but wherever he wants me to play, I’ll play. But centre half is definitely my position these days. “It was difficult to play there at the start. I’d never really played there when I was younger but the gaffer was a centre half in his playing days and he’s helped me develop an awful lot. “The other lads, like Charlie [Mulgrew], have played there and you learn every day. I still need to get better and improve. “It feels natural and I feel playing there now. “If I was asked to play central midfield then I’d probably be a little rusty playing there, and I expect I’ve played more games at centre half than in midfield. “I can do a better job for the team at centre half, I think my game suits playing there nowadays.”
  18. Decent performance by England, although ye very nearly threw it away. I was rooting for ye. A lot of the behaviour by the Colombians was a disgrace. Never going to have a better chance to win a world cup, or at least get to a Semi. I think Croatia, France or Brazil would cause you too many problems with how they control the midfield in games, but at this stage literally anything can happen. Whatever about him as a manager, Southgate comes across as a very likable person too. Well done.
  19. Saw that. Why were they having a swipe at Nixon? Assuming you need a reason, maybe you don't.
  20. What else can I judge him on? Whatever the reason he was poor both games. Peterborough had some good wingers, so must have had decent service to get the goals he got. I will be interested to see if a championship club takes a gamble on him.
  21. Marriott was non-existent in the games against us last season. One season wonder written all over him.
  22. Did we come up against any standout target men in League 1 last season? Was it Plymouth who had a guy? I would class Graham as a good target men personally. He can win headers, shield the ball with his arse and his hold up play and lay offs are excellent. There are bigger players who can't do what he does
