Summer transfer window 2021.
Bigdoggsteel replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Part exchange is the way to go, but lots of moving parts in that. Still though, I think 20 is a good deal for a PL club to be honest. -

I would be happy with Reach. Possibly cos we haven't signed anyone. He's versatile, experienced and has a decent goals and assist record. Most importantly, he actually seems to play a lot and not be injured. Fingers crossed -

Agreed, but his stock is high now. He won't be able to sign for someone until next summer if we don't accept an offer. Imagine he got injured half way through the season -

Ya, but I suppose IF and it's a big if and you see this with players ,if there was a chance of him signing a new deal, clubs who are trying to low ball us, could miss out completely. -

Debatable if those 2 did or are just shite. You can look at it a few ways I suppose, but I would hold for 20. The contract is the main issue. Talks must be completely over in that regard it seems -

It's not acceptable. Ollie Watkins moved for 26 million. Of course it is in a player who is almost out of contracts interest to perform. It means he could get a better deal and a bigger team. -

Someone will pay 20, so anything else is panicking. The issue is , we need the money right away due our poor recruitment set up. We should comfortably be signing out of contract players with all the wages we freed up, but things are at a stand still -

The point was we are less likely to go down with him. -

Not if there was any hope he would sign a new deal. Things are so worrying here though, that's pretty much an impossibility, correct? Still we won't go up with him, but we could certainly go down without him. Hard to see where the goals will come from. -

I would prefer keep him til his contract runs down than accept 15 million. Someone wil go to 20. It's just a pity we are so reliant on that money, cos it will be late in the window -

That would have been a very bad call. The biggest issue is he hasn't signed a new deal, not the sell on, even allowing for the fact it's high -

They own the club and aren't going anywhere. The managerial situation is fixable. Are you boycotting or protesting? -

I don't want to be overly harsh on the man, because he's right not to walk. The reality is we are going to suffer for this decision. -

I think in this instance, they somewhat are unfortunate. They trusted the manager, gave him time and money and you know where we are at now with 2 weeks to go til the season starts. That's purely on him. I bet when he goes, stories will come out about how useless and rotten things are behind the scenes at the moment. It's a squad disillusioned with the manager, his methods and at rock bottom confidence wise. Plus why would a player want to sign for a club who still have the same manager they won 2 in 17 under at the tail end of the season? Luton would be more tempting if it isn't just about money. The owners gave him free reign, that is their mistake, yes, but in many ways they backed the wrong horse, again. -

I'd say the club probably still use Windows 97. Mowbray on internet explorer. Possibly over dial up. -

When asked about transfers, CEO Waggott said the appointment of John Park as head of recruitment would ‘assist in the process of acquiring new players’. He added the club were ‘quietly preparing their searches’ but had found themselves battling for other clubs for their targets. Well I never, having to battle other clubs for transfers. Who would have thought it? @roversfan99You mentioned yesterday that the embargo is somewhat of a valid excuse for Mowbray, however it has been lifted since July 7th, 20 days ago and we still haven't signed anyone. Surely we should have had some stuff ready to move on? The recruitment seems to be gone really dysfunctional to me. Including the snails pace a new head of recruitment was appointed. The manager operates at a snails pace, I can imagine him saying he is going on holidays before he has a chance to interview candidates for that role and Waggot been like "ya , of course. So am I" The club is really extremely amateur when it comes to how things are being done. It's not looking good. -

He has played senior football and he has scored at Premier League level. Is he better than McBride? It would seem to be the case. I would obviously have other targets before him, but we potentially could end up with a LOT worse -

I don't buy the embargo made that much of a difference to be honest. We always leave it late and really we should have been good to go straight away when we got out of it. Mowbray has overall done a bad job in my eyes. If you look at it as a project, he has got us into this mess. We are going to be overly reliant on the Armstrong fee, let's be honest, it's nothing to do with embargos. Last season was a disaster and the manager showed how completely unadaptable he is. His stubbornness and viewpoints, in his eyes, trump what's best for the club. I take your points on the owners, but at the end of the day, they own it,it's their money and they don't appear to be going anywhere. I suppose it's all the one really though when they are the ones who leave him in situ, although that's what they appointed a CEO for, surely? The club is rotten at the minute and without defending the owners ,they have again, ended up with clowns running the show. They put money in and trusted them. They just aren't attached to the town,or the club. That's the problem. -

If we had given say the WBA manager the time and money Mowbray has had, we would more than likely have achieved something. Or any other number of managers. Don't put words in my mouth saying I am defending them, but they have given him everything needed to be succesful here and he has arguably brought us backwards at this point. He has muddled tactics and lowered moral to rock bottom. Ultimately of course they should sack him, but in theory giving a manager time is the correct thing to do. However there is a point when this isn't the case anymore and we smashed that down last season. He is the issue right now. That's not even getting into the "man of integrity" stuff. Grand , no one would lose out on the money by walking, but like many things, he just shouldn't have said it then -

We didnt have a Danny Graham because of Mowbray and he wouldn't have changed anyway, I mean he didn't! Like banging our heads off a wall with him as manager. He can't use the pitch and an excuse imo I agree relegation this season would be the end of the club as we know it -
Im actually of the belief that our current plight is purely down to the manager. The owners backed him and gave him time, he spoke of "journeys", yet here we are with 11 players gone, no clear direction on our style of play and no signings in They backed another clown, unfortunately

2021/22 Pre-Season
Bigdoggsteel replied to Admiral Nelsen's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It would be typical that we look at Swansea now and say what are they thinking with this managerial situation going on 2 weeks before the season starts, only for us to go and eclipse them by doing something even more ridiculous. They also have a covid outbreak. We still won't beat them. Interesting article here. I would class it in the "critical by LT standards" category. If they are writing this type of stuff , it shows how bad things are. Although funnily, unlike Swansea, we would benefit from a managerial change ,no matter how late before the start of the season it comes https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19467118.verdict-new-kit-familiar-failings-blight-blackburn-rovers/
