The last administration error probably cost us a place in the playoffs last season. This one could potentially see us relegated this season. Absolute shambles of a club. -

Regarding the arsey opener, yes lots and I continue to do so regularly. Very convenient that the defence was awful whenever you played poorly. It's almost as though our current goalkeepers could be thinking the same.. Doesn't mean it's true or that your opinion is any better than anyone's just because you played. See Joey Barton under arsey ex footballer. -

In applying JDT's tactics better, we're much more open for teams to attack than last season. This further exposes our GK. Unfortunately I don't feel we've got that balance right between defending (we applied a block really effectively for large spells last season) and going for the throat of teams (where we often look good on the eye but waste quite a lot of good quality of chances). I did say defensive unit, not individual players playing worse and making mistakes per se, although that's definitely part of it. -

Yeah, that's fair. If we're only going to be shopping in the bargain bin again for a striker, I'd rather we loaned in an experienced goalkeeper until the summer (then look to solve both issues then). However I'm trying to hold out hope that the potential loan signing of Phillips suggests that we're looking at a higher quality of player. -

We're also missing good chances to kill games off. We've needed to sign a good striker for a while now. We can't leave it another window. We had a good Championship goalkeeper (arguably a decent Premier League one) and sold him in favour of Pears. They're not going to use up our limited resources to admit that mistake. Our defensive woes haven't just been down to our goalkeeping; our whole defensive unit has gone backwards this season. -

Whilst I agree we need a better no 1, I can just about cope with Pears until the summer if it means we can bring in a good striker. Doubt whatever our budget is stretches for both. Our current options up top aren't good enough for this level, bar maybe Gallagher who's always injured and never been prolific. Despite his flaws, Pears is a decent Championship goalkeeper. -

We don't normally get a sniff at loans of this calibre, so I'd be really pleased if this comes off. We all know striker is the key signing, so fingers crossed on that one once this is hopefully confirmed. It's not too late to put together a playoff push if we recruit right and get the injured lads back fit. -

Difficult to get excited by what seem to be cheap temporary squad fillers. If we've any sort of budget, you'd hope these moves are being made to prioritise funds for a striker and whatever else we desperately need. -
Alan "Birdy" Birkbeck - RIP
RoverKyle replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
RIP Birdy Never met the man, but would always see him at away games when I lived down in London. There's a warm feeling you get when you clock that sort of commitment. Awful midweek trips down to places like Millwall in the winter. Diehard supporters like him are a credit to their clubs. Hopefully we win it for him on Friday. -
Your Expectations for this Season?
RoverKyle replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We should really be aiming for at least the top 6 following the last two seasons. That being said, where our squad is right now & looking at some of the other teams in the league, we're probably a good top half shout. A couple of decent attacking signings and we could really push on. Hopefully they get their men. -
There's plenty of evidence to suggest that they listen to the advice of individuals that aren't qualified to provide such advice.. And on that, being a Norwegian football player doesn't qualify MGP as an overly credible source of advice for sounding out the prospects of a former academy director at a Norwegian football club or a Danish football coach. They should get on the blower to Lucas Neill and see if this New Zealand keeper from Wimbledon is any good.

""Even last summer when they were discussing a new manager, the owners called me and asked what I thought about some of the options. I really appreciated that."

RoverKyle replied to Sweaty Gussets's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Kaminski needs to start next game. I don't care how good Pears was filling in for him initially. He's looked like a back up the last couple of games. You start your best keeper. -
I don't think it's that black and white. Brereton and JRC were both poor early doors and I don't personally think that can be argued against. Not convincingly anyway. Unless fans categorically stated "Brereton/JRC will never make it in a Rovers shirt", then they aren't wrong to have had that opinion at the time. It's great to see JRC really step up though. Looked like he might've been on his way in January and now he's one of our key players. Really interesting run of games coming up. Hoping we can keep everyone fit for them.

RoverKyle replied to R0verb0y's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Certainly agree with the first sentence. I find it wild that players/teams fall short on that. You can make up for a lack of quality with those traits. Some quality certainly helps though! Completely get where you're coming from in terms of the results v entertainment debate. I do think the entertainment side is quite subjective though. Although we're certainly not playing free flowing attacking football, some people really appreciate the dark arts of the game and defending in general. If anything, that's been the most pleasing thing for me recently. -

After 12 years of this pathetic regime, I genuinely thought I'd be a bit numb to the disappointment now, but this has completely thrown me. When Mowbray was finally moved on and GB & JDT were brought in, it genuinely felt like we were turning a corner. They've said all the right things, signed reasonably well, tied down some players and got us into a good league position. I think people could fairly criticise the way we've played for most of this season and possibly question some of the other points, but on the whole things have looked promising, or at least more promising than they have done for a while. For a second season running we've found ourselves unexpectedly challenging for the playoffs and in a strong position to add some quality in the January window. And yet again we've failed to do anything to strengthen our position. Even if this O'Brien deal had got over the line, it was clear and obvious we needed a striker, even without Hirst being sent back to Leicester. Pure incompetence shown by the club and it shows how much of a job GB has on his hands to get things right. Literally just watched the GB interview and still believe he's a big asset to the club. Really hoping he can get things right for the summer, as we'll have a lot of work to do when Brereton leaves on a free. -

Agreed. I know Travis has come in for some fairly justified stick recently, but I'd rather see him play himself into form, than Morton. At least we get a bit of passion from him. When Morton gave the ball away against Birmingham for their first goal, he covered up his mouth like he was doing one of those annoying YouTube reactions. I've got absolutely no time for him and he's not one of ours. Give Buckley/Travis a run of games, then if that isn't working drop the worst one for Wharton when he's fit. -

Anyone signed up to Nixon's Patreon? He appears to have posted a timeline of the O'Brien deal on that. -

The silence is deafening and maybe the worst part of all of this. Not doing your jobs properly shouldn't be excused, but shying away from your mistakes and not keeping supporters informed (even if it's that we're waiting on approval or that the move is being challenged) is worse and can't be ignored. -

A friend of mine was saying what a shambles we are for not getting any money for Brereton Diaz. I explained that this is common place for Venky's owned Rovers, but I think it's fair to say that supporters of other clubs genuinely don't know how badly our club is run. If we fail with these deals over late paperwork, it's going to highlight the problem even more. -

I get your point of view but the deadline is there for a reason. Clubs must abide by it. If we've failed to get the deal done in time, there's only the club (or potentially Forest if it's due to something at their end) to blame. -

That's probably where we are in all fairness. I just mentioned him as one of the better options that is available, which isn't saying much. -

I think he's right to be fair. I checked one of those work permit calculators after I posted it and looks like he falls short. Just shows how strict the criteria is. -

Yeah, I'm really intrigued by the three we were apparently looking at. Out of contract wise, I had a quick look last night and it seemed pretty desperate. I thought Niasse looked a decent option (from what was available) but I didn't realise he'd had a short spell in L1 most recently before being recently. An interesting option is Nicolai Jorgensen. I swear someone mentioned him on the thread a while ago. Decent pedigree & should be known to JDT. He was in and around the Danish national team when JDT was part of the set up. 32 now and recent scoring history doesn't look great. According to stuff online he was on around £10k p/wk at Copenhagen before being released, so would probably fit our budget. No idea if he's any good to be honest, as I don't recall having seen him play. https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/nicolai-jorgensen/profil/spieler/100399
