  1. It really is as simple as having a solid defence and playing as many players as possible in their proper positions. Lenihan has been a key player for us but Mowbray was massively to blame for sticking random players in random positions, having us tapping the ball about with poor movement and not pressing the opposition - he had lost the plot and deserved the fans on his back. The opposition were having a field day against Bennett at fullback, whipping in crosses towards non-dominant centre backs. Now, the teams selected play to the strengths of the players. I'm so glad he has seen sense and everyone to a man has upped their game so far, as we were massively underperforming. We seem to be focussing on our strengths, rather than the opposition's.
  2. 1 point off! What a fucking turnaround this last 3/4 weeks have been. Time to believe Rovers!
  3. We've created good chances but also rode our luck. I can't see a clean sheet tbh so we need a couple more. Too many crosses coming in from our left side, although Bell has been much improved so far.
  4. Bagged two in 13mins so far. Not bad for someone with no pace and who can't hold up the ball.
  5. Isn't a Mowbray type striker in that he has a wealth of experience and can actually score goals? ?
  6. No, definitely Xavier. I know he was on trial but I have a vivid memory of him in a Rovers' shirt playing at fullback. It clearly didn't happen though ?
  7. It wouldn't shock me if he came back. I don't think it is unrealistic.
  8. How strange that you've brought this up this week. I was saying to my mate on the way to the match that I have a Mandela Effect memory of seeing Abel Xavier playing for us. He has is too and wouldn't believe me that he never played for us.
  9. It's just common sense. If bog standard supporters can see what needs doing, then we don't have a very good manager in place. I want him to wake up and keep doing the obvious but my brain tells me he will be itching to tinker about and it'll cost us again.
  10. I did say a bit of a prick, not a complete one ? He has really annoyed me too. I also hated the way that he pointed the finger of blame at the young players, rather than equally at himself. He even started having a chew at the fans - who have been massively patient. Personally, I can't bare to read his interviews anymore and I genuinely feel that a terrible run is just around the corner. Hopefully I am wrong.
  11. Rhodes, Gestede, Marshall and Hanley were all part of promotion sides to the Premier League - whilst we were relegated to ply our trade in League One. Currently, we are also-rans in the Championship. Not sure what point you were trying to make there.
  12. My thoughts too. It is ridiculous to suggest he wouldn't be on the radar of the lower tier Premier League clubs. He'll be quite effective in that league as defenders stand off more, rather than him having three players stuck to him within a second of getting the ball. We'll miss him when he's gone - a cracking signing by Mowbray.
  13. He isn't West Brom's type of player ? Very silly of them to bid all that money for him then.
  14. PL football with Mowbray in charge, really? One good performance and two scabby wins don't suggest to me that anything major has changed. So, other than blind hope, what makes you think that those clubs are so unrealistic, especially when they were sniffing around at properties down there last summer? There's a reason extended contracts with better money don't get signed and why people live in rented accommodation - the warning signs are there and the alarm bells are about to ring. So time will tell and we'll see, but I know where my money would be going.
  15. That bird of his won't have him away from the big smoke for long and he sees himself as a PL player. Someone like Brighton, Bournemouth, Watford or Palace will come in for him eventually.
  16. I actually think he is a bit of a prick and the root of his own problems. Lots of supporters identified what needed doing weeks/months ago. He finally does it and voila, we win matches! I would gladly see him upgraded as we are off the pace due to his pissing about. He'll do it again shortly and start experimenting when all we need is consistenvy - obviously when the pressure is off.
  17. I think we'll be replacing Dack in Jan (or maybe Holtby is that man already). The interview with Mowbray last week seemed like an advertisement to any Premier League teams that he is available and we won't stand on his way Hopefully, we keep our run going and leave us with a good chance of the play offs, otherwise, I reckon he's gone.
  18. There are some absolute numpties on that Telegraph site. Very little debate, just chatting utter bollocks and constructive criticism is not allowed.
