  1. Coming into this now. Wigan started like they gave a point to prove, but will run out of steam.
  2. Rovers 0- Port Vale 0 first game back in the championship, after our first relegation from the premier league. Also remember a 3-0 defeat first game of the season at Fratton Park a few years back. I took the wife for a holiday on the south coast, knowing I had two tickets for the match, on the last day of our holiday. She has only just forgiven me.
  3. In most cases, I would argue it is a self - preservation exercise, as in it buys me more time that I otherwise might have. I wonder how many managers, would state that they need X number of seasons to achieve the goals that the interviewer asks them what they can achieve and what they have to offer?
  4. Great for the feel good factor that. The penalty seemed to settle us down, as I thought we were nervous before that. Morton was much better today and I thought Szmodics was much improved too. Great to see him score. Also that Brereton looked sharp again and Travis had a far better game too. League looks right and despite our short comings, we are in the mix.
  5. Abandon this messing around at the back and we might look a bit better. My heart was in my mouth all night, including when Hirst stepped up to take the pen. Not good enough that, but we are still in a decent position in the league.
  6. Thats the only downside to Rovers TV and paying for the season. Any game being shown live anywhere is not included, so it means paying extra for it. That said, the season pass is still decent value, and I am happy to pay for it and still pay for a ticket to go, when I am in the UK.
  7. People still seem worried about what could come out about the takeover then?
  8. Thank goodness for the points. I will take a poor performance and a win any time, over a good one and a defeat. We were poor and can hardly say as fans that it was an enjoyable match. Hope we can turn in a similar display to the Blackpool game, on Tuesday and I think we need to give Adam Wharton his head, as he should have either held on to the shirt, or at least made the bench, after the Blackpool game. Maybe the Bristol City defeat cost him his place, but others were worse in that match.
  9. Rovers were the only team to start with 12 men, when the Turkish Delight played for us.
  10. Interesting especially that Nayambe didn’t get a signing on fee. Players certainly take a chance when turning down the offer of a new deal down and clearly they sometimes backfire.
  11. Brilliant news really and as already stated, it shows the previous regime, were missing a trick. If the manager was advising non playing staff to move on, then perhaps he was also reluctant to persuade players that Ewood was the place for them. Thank goodness that’s now in the past.
  12. Interesting that and sounds very promising. Does anyone know what the new compensation rules are? Perhaps that’s a step in the right direction too.
  13. Today it was bullies V Faries and the bullies won. It’s a shame we played they way we did, as Luton are a one trick pony and we simply played into their hands. Very poor today, all round.
  14. Hope the Hatters don't have their secret weapon Hugh Jarse available.
  15. The Bolton fans hated him initially. I think he is doing a decent job and has galvanized them now.
  16. There is more ways of skinning a cat and all that and if we keep on skinning them, I am happy to play with no player running at the defence. Some great passing and moving in a few games so far and I do enjoy that type of football.
  17. I think he meant them.
  18. Hyam certainly celebrated his goal like he wanted to be here. I get the impression, this is a team that look after each other and will have welcomed him with open arms. Very happy with him so far.
  19. Good to see this happening. I know we had the odd one (Travis) under Mowbray, but is this a coincidence that we are getting the youngsters tied down, especially when you hear of the previous manager, recommending other clubs to his colleagues?
  20. That's exactly what I was just thinking. Imagine working for a major employer and you head hunted one of your esteemed colleagues for a rival firm. Surely this is market manipulation.
  21. If I was in charge at Sunderland I read this, I would dismiss him immediately. If he can do that once, he can do it again. Imagine if Boro want one of their players, or a member of staff, or even a nice comfortable victory, can he be trusted to act in the best interests of the club who pay his wages? This needs reporting to the powers that be, as it is as close to manipulation and abuse of power as you can get and is corporate negligence in my view.
  22. Clarets match tonight is postponed. I suspect all Saturdays games will be too.
  23. For those who have made their predictions, I will post a results page on Sunday. Anyone else who wants to have a go, are most welcome. All in the name of fun and nothing to lose.
  24. I remember a Speight goal V Sheffield Wednesday that was on TV. Being a Sheffield lad and a blade, he was made up and was beaming broadly when they interviewed him on the TV post match.
