  1. Wonder if Damien Johnson was involved in the bust up? Coach coming in from "the kids" telling the vastly experienced player what to do... Total and utter speculation of course
  2. Agree in principle (mainly because i think Downing could have been good backup) but in practice few of us wanted Rodwell or Mulgrew. Wharton and Magloire are probably better off playing regularly though I think TM doesn't rate Wharton (rightly or wrongly) A freebie would remove the final worries though...
  3. Tricky one to judge. Was expecting Williams to CB after last season so a good leftback is a plus. Mulgrew leaving weakens the squad but might improve the team if that makes sense. Midfield is improved with Johnson whilst Downing adds some flexibility and experience - potentially in defence, midfield and attack. Gallagher - undecided but does improve the squad/team on paper. Walton - key to if this was a good or bad window. Not seen enough yet to judge.
  4. TM has stated that having Mulgrew meant we played deeper - now with Johnson and Travis in midfield it might not be quite so easy for teams to walk through our midfield meaning Mulgrew is not as vulnerable. Downing on left suggests that we might play out on the left or longer ball from CM to Gallagher on right to mix it Up... (Yes my glass is half full and Specs are blue...) ?
  5. Thanks. Not sure if liking your post is an insult to Williams...?? Whatever happened to the choice of "like, thanks or lol"?
  6. Williams out for 6 weeks?? How/why? (apologies if i've missed something that everyone else knows)
  7. Watching highlights i felt it looked like something from Bundesliga, Austria or Switzerland. Still don't like it as a Rovers kit but perhaps i'm old fashioned...
  8. Dislike it right now but will be interesting to see if my opinion changes when i see it in a match
  9. Suspect that may have been the suggestion and everybody agreed that sitting on the bench wasn't an option. Loan to another club probably suited nobody so imagine it became mutually beneficial once Brentford showed some cash. Ideally i would have preferred to keep him but all depends on the replacement...
  10. Was thinking about this a different way - would we be happy if we had signed David Raya to be our no1? Liked him, way better than Steele but right now think we need an older head between the sticks.
  11. Fair point - i don't know it for a fact. It is my opinion that a decent coach would have got Raya to either improve his dealing with crosses - possibly by always staying on his line and using his reactions to full effect. I suspect also that the poster suggesting a conflict between Raya and Mowbray may also have a point...
  12. Good luck to him - great keeper in some respects and the money justifies keeping the Academy in good shape. That said - shit gk coach that meant Raya didn't improve in terms of "presence" - something that is probably needed to help create a different mentality in our defence. Wouldn't be surprised to see him in PL or La Liga in a few years if he gets better coaching.
  13. Who else in the squad has the quality and experiences of Rodwell?? Appreciate your point but he improves the technical ability of the team/squad. Attitude - sure use him as an example of what can happen to your career if you stop pushing... J Lo was perobably a great role model ?
  14. Let's be honest - if he was full on pro mode then we wouldn't have a chance. Half arsed on right money playing 25 games is still better than a lot of what we have had. Not to underestimate what that extra quality is worth in training IF it pushes the kids to improve their technique...
  15. Has Insurance been covering Gladwins wages whilst injured? If so - not much to lose by giving him a chance on a 6 month Deal
  16. How many games has he been unavailable for due to injury ?
  17. I suspect that if offered midtable with 60 ish points preseason then most of us would have said "ta very much - that'll do nicely" ? Ironically TMs success in the beginning raised expectations and then the dreadful run raised fears as the contrast was stark. If he only learns one thing between now and next season i hope it is the ability to find a way to break that sort of run - be it gung-ho or 10 men behind the ball ?
  18. In all fairness Evans and Smallwood looked reasonable enough during quite a few games in first half of session. Likewise Mulgrew seems to have deterioated or the opposition have figured him out. Rothwell - while i respect the opinions of others i can only comment that prior to the last games he has been total liability in giving the ball away in dangerous areas. Eliminate that and he'll be great. Mowbray stays for me - we overachieved for a while and the underachieved. 14th place prior to the season and i would have snatched your hand off... ?
  19. Having been present at a number of team meetings during the last 25 years. They are not all about table tennis and donuts ?
  20. Understand and agree to a point BUT if the players aren't 100% in agreement then nowadays you are finished. Think Man Utd as the most public example. Tony is far from alone in letting senior players dictate with the proviso that "if it ain't working we go to my plan" but he is unique (and possibly a little foolish) in openly discussing it.
  21. I read it that TM expects Che Adams to be in the premier League - that is reasonably high praise. Think his comments are spot if you Imagine the following words (unsaid) in TMs head: "... because then Che will need a little more to beat decent defenders and not crap like this!"
  22. Remember how many seasons all we wanted was players to actually give a shit, a manager that wasn't a liar and some sort of pride/responsibility in representing Rovers. To quote Fatboy Slim: "we've come a long way baby!"
