  1. Having half decent options on the bench/in the squad I would say is the biggest difference. We are missing 2 left backs, 2 central defenders, a starting CM and 2-3 attacking players yet we could still make changes without weakening the team as a whole or having most of the team blowing out their arses on 85 minutes
  2. Most players contracts include an appearance bonus - if we are picking up a part of his wage then i assume any "individual/performance add-ons" are to be covered by us
  3. Bring Kenny as "moral support" and let them get on with it. New manager/head coach usually wants to demonstrate who is boss and inevitably some players get disturbed. Kenny is canny enough to only interfere if it starts going tits up and wouldn't feel the need to prove anything if Lowe is doing the job with Johnson, Benson and Sheron. Only question is if it will affect us on a different level as we are effectively 3 coaches short compared to a month ago
  4. We are paying Siggy 18k a week to sit at home...
  5. Read that somewhere yesterday - not sure if it was on the Derby site, BBC or another news outlet (Guardian??). It was phrased as "wanting to feel the buzz of Pride Park without causing a fuss as the deals weren't signed and sealed" (paraphrasing as i can't find the article again
  6. Suhail - always Suhail (even if he is not one of the three involved 😉)
  7. Given what our core players are achieving after different coaching I would suggest (rightly or wrongly) that JE believed he could have got a tune out of Gallagher and having seen the recruitment 1 year earlier (Telalovic and Ennis) was scared stiff of what would be brought in to replace him and Szmodics... That JE demanded more of an influence in transfer targets as time went on is pretty standard stuff - the question is how was this handled internally? If internal communications are even close to the clusterfuck that is our external communication then i would suspect it was not handled in a professional manner...
  8. Do you think JE could just leave when he wanted to? It required someone to pay it and Derby were willing to do that. Not sure he’ll be on more money but he now has an income until summer 2028 regardless of what happens. IF he stayed - would another club pay the fee required when so many more managers are potentially available during the summer as opposed to mid season? Not a chance he felt was worth taking despite a playoff chance at Rovers. That screams to me that he was absolutely desperate to leave - regardless of destination. His past at Derby was just window dressing
  9. That is me being optimistic 😉
  10. Rob Edwards as he is someone who has done it before and might stick around to keep us in the championship next season… If we had different owners I might consider Warnock but no way in hell is he coming here after the coyle fiasko (yes I know I’m choosing but can’t ignore the big fat turd on the carpet that is the Vs)
  11. The magic number (Coyle was also 33/1)
  12. Tinfoil hat on: club delays an appointment until the summer. Suhail and Steve get a bonus for keeping costs well below the budget (750 and 3 wages ) Summer transfer window and contract renewals delayed whilst we appoint a coach… edit: PR dept puts out that they didn’t want to risk disrupting our promotion bid
  13. Think there is a pragmatic attitude from Derby and JE that relegation may happen but then promotion next season would be a demand. Unless there is a break clause in the event of relegation then JE has secured a pay cheque for the next 3 years at a club that seems to be thinking mid to long term Also don’t think relegation would end his career at mid to lower championship level
  14. Tbf we never faced Pears in goal - i can imagine our set plays worked a trevat in training…
  15. For this lot it'll be 15 games with the reward of a 3 year contract provided we finish outside the top 6 😉
  16. The match preview on the Rovers website is awesome - basically a nice chat with the opposition manager and his view on tonight's game after reminiscing about his time as chief lunatic at the asylum...
  17. Is this a game of chicken? Rovers insisting Eustace "does his job whilst contracted" probably in order to screw some money out of him for "breaching his contract". Eustace not giving in to this tactic and saying "fuck it - sure i'll be head coach tonight as well"... Looking forward to the presser...🤣
  18. I think contract length may be key. If Derby give him 3 years plus this season on similar money then it is easier to understand considering the problems facing Rovers after the summer. Next season could kill JEs career and with no contract extension he would be vulnerable. A real interesting situation as our next appointment (or lack thereof) will show if the club genuinely doesn’t want to make the playoffs…
  19. That statement is about the same level as a social media post from a teenager that has been dumped...
  20. To be honest i would have expected a free kick outside of the box unless the ref played advantage for some reason (not likely given it was potentially a head injury) so while it surprised me when given it was probably the right decision. Thought the ref would actually give the PNE pen (to "even it up") but thought it was a header contested and won by Gueye without being a clear foul and he didn't lead with his arm. Only seen extended highlights so can't comment on ref overall but thought he got these 2 decisions right on balance. As for Pears - wtf was that for their goal?!?
  21. Gestede - the ”Nixon” of DOFs (or whatever his made up job title is)
  22. With Trav and Tronstad injured and Dolan waiting to move on a free then Pears is the next one in line. After a decent half season, still relatively young and having seen what our previous keepers have achieved i can see an offer of 2 maybe 2.5 million rising to 5 being acceptable for potential buyers. As with strikers - the reasoning will be that we have already done enough to stay up and Hilton will be no 2
  23. Garnacho to Chelsea for 180 million. In the summer utd sign 3 Chelsea reserves for 120 million on long-term contracts - everbody happy and PSR breach avoided…
  24. I’m sure he was very candid and forthcoming about it all. For reference - my comment is about how it works with a head coach. Clubs are starting to catch on to the continental way of having a “system”, recruiting players for said system and even coaches being chosen because they align with said system (making Man United’s current crisis even funnier) But yes - I’m sure that JE saw a list of strikers in the summer and said Ohashi and Gueye are who I want… 🙄
  25. It is usually even worse: the head coach identifies positions to strengthen and perhaps certain attributes. The DOF and receuitment team compile list of targets whilst looking for other positions in case someone is available that they think would be an asset to the club. At best the Head Coach gets asked about the names on the list and in some instances may have a veto or say in preferred targets
