  1. OMG. Not content with writing guff for the Indie all week, this pr!ck has to top up his salary by spouting crap in a Sunday red-top. No values, just like the rest of them. Eh, Jim.
  2. Yep. All on your lonesome there.
  3. Whatever. Kids, mortgage, new windows, value for money. The fact is that it's all down to individual choice, supply and demand. Rovers fans know damn well that they can get in to any home game they want to because there are more seats than bums to sit on them. All this guff about quality of entertainment is rubbish. If we were Wolves fans we'd have all been in the queue in APRIL to renew STs, regardless of entertainment, results, star players or even level of competition. Because we want to be in the ground for the games. Rovers have pulled out all the stops to offer the best value season tickets IN THE COUNTRY. Because we're paying lower division prices for top division football. And people are still complaining.
  4. No witch hunt here incoherent one .... just taking the p!ss out of someone who built such a long fence to perch on it went through ten Euro 2004 countries and missed out England (and Latvia and Bulgaria). If that person's being proved incorrect country by country and day by day, why shouldn't it be pointed out ? There look. More facts.
  5. This is the fastest growing thread since Duffer left Which is a little bit worrying lofty, are you ... ahem ... a "left footer" ?
  6. lofty did you do your 11 hour day in a glue factory by any chance ?
  7. Lofty, I know one as well. Has anyone else met a mod ? Let's all club together, Lofty needs help !!
  8. Because in it you claimed Ferguson had captained his country "at the highest level" which is clearly impossible
  9. Unless you get deported today or tomorrow ...
  10. No, Eddie, football discussion is never pointless. Becuase people like you and RoyRover post rubbish like this RoyRover, in the closing stages of the Champions League, told us merrily that it was a crap competition because the "best" teams were out. The rest of us love to watch the game because unlike many sports, it is so unpredictable. It is brilliant. Anything can happen. I chose to watch the Sweden-Denmark game tonight, even though the idiots at ITV had decided Italy would please more advertisers - another nail in their [EDIT I meant ITV, but I suppose it applies to Italy as well] football coffin. There is absolutely no way the game was fixed, no way at all. I can't wait for the Italian press tomorrow, it'll be like their wine - sour grapes and leaves a bitter taste.
  11. Absolutely. Like Italy going out ! Who's next RoyRover - Holland or Germany ??
  12. Why is everyone after the Neville brothers ? Phil had hardly any time at all today, and came into a team which was becoming disjointed because of the other changes which were made. He has done very little wrong for England when he's had the chance to play. Gary continues to get slated by people who don't understand the game. He is solid, unspectacular, doesn't hunt the limelight, is a key element in the dressing room and is the best option at right back for England. FFS we're in the Quarter Finals for the first time apart from 1996. Let's just let them get on with it - all 23 of them.
  13. Are you still laughing about Spain not having enough quality ?! I can't wait for England to meet them ... looks like 2006 will be the first possible chance though ! Keep the analysis coming in - it's absolutely hilarious !!!
  14. At home for this one, having been out for the previous two and in anticipation of some bigger games to come. The problem in London (especially in the centre) is combining atmosphere with comfort ... if having a few chants going also means 20 minute queues to get pints of warm beer in re-used plastics for £3 - and the bogs are flooded ... watching at home with a few mates becomes a much better option.
  15. Would you like a fence to sit on ? Apart from England playing averagely and Switzerland being more than a match for England, you go on to sing the praises of no fewer than 9 other teams. France will be "there abouts" when the final comes, Italy have amazing depth in class and a brilliant defence, Germany hard to break down, Holland due some devastating results, Spain have some of the best players in the world, Czechs can destroy anyone, Greeks are a handful, Portugal a threat to anyone, and Sweden are your dark horses. So you don't reckon Latvia are in with a chance then ? Bulgaria already being out and all ?
  16. Well that's hardly a ringing endorsement from the bloke who a couple of months ago was citing the lack of a left footed player (any left footed player, Souness should have found one!) as one of the principal reasons for Rovers poor showing. Now we've got one, he gets grief because he's Spanish!! Why didn't you say two months ago you only wanted a left midfielder from anywhere else but Spain !?? We discussed at that time about our (London Branch) Q and A session with John Williams, I tried to explain - without saying what we'd been asked not to say - how Rovers had made left midfield the number one priority in the transfer window but would not sign players at the wrong price. De Pedro was a major target in January. At the time De Pedro was a £2 million pound player according to his club. Wrong price. Today he was a free transfer. Right price. Once again, Williams and Souness have got this absolutely spot on. The critical element on here should take a step back and actually look at how well our club is being managed, on the tightest of budgets. 5 Premiership clubs would have loved to have taken De Pedro on - rumoured off-field problems or not. We know 9 Premiership clubs would have loved Dickov on their books. We've now got both, to add to an already fantastic array of talent in midfield and up front. Look forward to the addition of a centre half, the return of Ferguson and co, and roll on August.
  17. For me one of the most impressive things about recent arrivals at Rovers is the way Williams and Souness seem to be able to persuade players to choose us above anyone else who's interested. With the exception of McBride, who appears to have been swayed by non-football motives (London). Emerton was phoned on his mobile during his negotiations with Williams by Bobby Robson but still came to Rovers. Ferguson was chased by Everton and at least one other. Dickov had them queuing round the block because of the low fee. And now De Pedro had options in Spain and alternatives in England but he's been bagged as well. There may be other examples. I'm also impressed that they did not go over their valuation of Pedersen. This is our offer, take it or leave it. Bye bye.
  18. The question is now begged. Did Souness spend yesterday "blasting the board" or did he and John Williams spend most of the day working together to sign some Spanish bloke with a left foot. It would appear the latter. I wonder how the Telegraph story came to be published yesterday, or if someone put the wrong spin on it ... ... or if indeed it was intended to take focus away from the fact that a player was about to sign and Rovers didn't want any of their rivals to interrupt the negotiation. Or was this their idea of a joke - a cryptic warning. HA we've got no money, but HA wait 'til you see tomorrow's news HA. Then you'll only have 2 days left until the Direct Debit Deadline HAHA (fans) and HO you've missed out on De Pedro HOHO (Sturrock6, Moyes, Camacho, Mourinho, etc).
  19. Gav and I have regularly posted here about what actually happened in Charleroi four years ago. The pictures of those water cannon have been dredged up again as "archive" footage for news items being broadcast at the moment. I'll repeat for the umpteenth time what we know about that footage because we were there and we were gutted when we saw what was portrayed. 1) Early in the morning on the day of the match, shop and cafe owners around that square in Charleroi took money from camera crews and photographers to get balcony space. Look at the angle from where the most used footage is shot - do you think they had climbed a tree ? Or just happened to be on a 1st or 2nd floor balcony. Money changed hands, and the best positions appeared to have been auctioned off to the highest bidding camera crew. 2) As the water cannon came to life, about 400 yards down the road on another square, we were in a crowd of maybe 4 or 5 thousand England and Germany fans, all drinking together, enjoying the sunshine, a couple of impromptu football games were going on. There was not a camera in sight, not a reporter to be seen. Those water cannon pics were jumped on by UEFA and by politicians back home - the first ever threat of expulsion followed the day after. And only as a result of scenes that had been almost fabricated by greedy TV news crews. That was the day which totally changed my view on the trustworthiness of TV news and confirmed my views about the gutter press and the way we are fed what someone else wants us to see.
  20. Think the ticket office might be closed right now ... however there could be an all night queue like there was pre-Celtic away given the imminent deadline for the direct debit scheme. So you're right to take no risks. Take a flask.
  21. can't be bothered really - and whatever, it doesn't alter the fact that many Rovers fans don't do cup games, unless it's Celtic, or 1/4 finals, semis or finals. What Souness says has fig-all to do with it, it was already the case long before he showed up.
  22. couple of thousand more than turned up to the Champs League games then !!
  23. Are you alleging that Souness went into a game of football hoping for defeat !?!?!? If you ever manage to allege it to his face I'd make sure you've got jet-heeled boots on. The guy detests losing with a passion most people save for detesting traffic wardens and garden pests. If he puts a team out to play a game, there is one thing you can be sure of, he believes the team he puts out is good enough to win the game.
  24. Are you reading this Al ?? Falling attendances = less money to spend on the team. Not come on Fred put your hand in your pocket, but come on Rovers fans we've got the best value season tickets in the Premier League please buy them.
