Agreed. Not a John Le Carre. It's a B movie all right. No subtlety. All too obvious from the start, who is on which side..
-
Excellent. I know we are in the middle of a cold war on this site...but this is what a message board is for!

Imagine confusing the 5th largest statue of Jesus in the world with a medicated, Venky chicken!
-
I agree we need a niggly, Speedie/Dickov type. Re the chicken dance, somebody I know says that in the days before that Rovers game, Garner was in the De Lacy, going on about how he was going to celebrate in that way, if he scored at Ewood.... I had no idea that it was something he did every time he scored throughout his career... If he does sign for Rovers and starts to do that every time he scores, I guess we will be calling it post irony!

Burnley pub renamed after Sean Dyche

I think it is called deferred gratification! -
Anyway, the only serious question for me is what he could bring to the team. If Rangers could sign Mo Johnson after all his sign of the cross celebrations in front of their fans, when he scored for Celtic, perhaps I could forgive a mere chicken dance...
-
Are you saying that that chicken dance in front of the Blackburn End had nothing to do with Venky's? A genuine question, by the way..
-
That was a joke-obviously, I would have thought!

French fries and urination alert.. I remember Scott Dan saying one the main reasons he came to Rovers was Steve Kean...(sorry)

And when you consider the incoming transfer fees, 1.5 years in the premier league , plus all the parachute payments under the Venky's, it really is an eye watering achievement to be over £100 million in debt Hence, many feel that there is something unusual about money going through this club. Ah, more dirty linen!

Only listened to the Ken Furphy one so far. Loved it. It really captures the revivalism of those times. Tony Field, Kit Napier and Johnny Price...wonderful memories!. Gutted, when Furphy went to Sheffield and kept coming back for our players. One of my mates compared the fans in those days to the disciples after the crucifixion. He was never one for understatement! I remember a very sarcastic letter in the LET, saying how we might as well change our name to Sheffield Utd Reserves. But-not unlike that darkest of days at at Selhurst Park, you can never know what joys are around the corner...with Gordon Lee...

Wes Brown had a great sense of humour apparently!

Breathes new life into the term Chelsea rent boy!

Don't get me started. Anyway, the thought police are around!

In the past, I remember Rovers always tried to do their transfer business quietly with little or no publicity until it was sorted. I do hope that is what is going on here...rather than nothing! Like others I came to associate the glare of publicity on possible signings with the previous, corrupt regime run by agents. Previously, my hopes that all that was well behind us were shattered by the appointment of an "outstanding candidate."

Club Revenue Generators
Leonard Venkhater replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Trouble is I think recent voting might have brought in or be about to bring in consequences like point deductions...which would have scuppered "little" Bournemouth etc -
Club Revenue Generators

Quite. We seemed to be an exception. I am not sure the intention ever was for us to go anywhere either and I tend to think FFP was used as a shield... I remember an article a few years ago in the Guardian, I think. It made the troubling point that FFP would have prevented a Jack Walker but allowed for "Poultrygeist".. -

Laughable again. I wonder how much our embargo actually costed us in terms of lost opportunity! -
..or clubs, who have found ways to manoeuvre around the FFP stuff..
-
I am seeing the Lenihan business, as a barometer for the club's progress. I got the clear sense that he really wanted out, when we got relegated. He is an international, who is only likely to improve and now we have him on a long term contract. So far, so good (..but you know what happens next lol)
-
Or...just reflect on why you might be getting similar feedback from a number of people? Just saying....

Superman?

If we have too many players in positions where we are well stocked, that probably means less capacity to invest in areas, where we are obviously weaker. I also worry about the impact on younger players of our own, whose progress might be blocked. by the Rekeem Harpers and Jack Byrnes of this world.. Even if you disagree, I think it is a mistake to keep defining reasonable criticism, as moaning etc
-
That has to be a possibility. Certainly, a realistic worry. It doesn't help a message board, but I would much prefer it, if all this was merely a sign of Rovers working quietly to get their business done before it was leaked in the press. On the other hand, I would have hoped signings would be made in time for the trip to Austria that I thought was supposed to be about bonding , as well as fitness. Anyway, we will know soon enough!
