Worst Rovers signing ever?
LeftWinger replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The Scottish Rooney? Surely not? The fact that he is at Clyde now and played for Doune Castle before that, tells you everything you need to know about him. The Scottish Rooney wasn't even the worst comparison Steve Kean made. Who remembers our version of Gabriel Batistuta? -
Worst Rovers signing ever?

I remember Dunn and Flitcroft being asked who the worst player they ever played with was. They laughed and wouldn't give a name, only to say if you'd had a bad day in training, you'd 'Had a Grabbi'. I'd forgotten about Petrovic. He's got to be up there as well. Awful. -

I think you've pretty much nailed it there. I'd chuck in Maceo Rigters in with Goulon. He'd just won the golden boot at the Euro U21 championship I think, but a deeper delve into his goal scoring history suggested it was a one off. -
It's mental really that they can just keep chucking money at a club they don't appear to have any interest in. I'm not sure badly they've been affected by the current economic climate, but you'd think at some point it'd be worth gambling and chucking some decent transfer money in to try and get promotion. Suddenly the club becomes more prestigious to them if back in the Premier League, as well as giving them a chance to recoup some of their outlay.

Even if he didn't have legs, he'd be an upgrade on Bell.
-
Initial fee of £3m rising to £6m with appearances. Judging by the number of appearances he's made in his career, the rest of that won't be payable for the next few decades,

Absolute sacrilege to even mention Fettis and Filan in the same breath. Fettis was a terrible keeper. Filan was a very good one. He replaced Flowers in 97/98 and was very good and was player of the season the year after (albeit in a relegated side).

Championship season 2019-20

It was only worse in the context of the game. Walton's definitely made worse mistakes than that. It's the volume of mistakes that is a problem with Walton for me. There was a period when it was like we were starting -1 on the coupon with him in goal. -

I think it's generally considered that Rodak, Samba and Raya have been the best three keepers in the Championship this season. It is unfortunate that he does have an error in him, but he's still very young. -

With the amount their squad cost, they should have gone up automatically. Cavaleiro - £15m Mitrovic - £22m Hector - £8m Mawson - £20m Bryan - £6m -
The one and only - Paul Senior?

I'm in the wrong job. I need to get into a 'Senior' management position in the council ? -
The one and only - Paul Senior?
LeftWinger replied to RoverInverness's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
How can someone working at the council be paid double what the PM makes? Absolute lunacy. -
It was a clever free-kick, but no keeper should be beaten from that distance like that. It was a comical dive as well, made it look even more ridiculous. *For the record I'm a big fan of Raya, but he was definitely at fault there.

This season just gone was the first time he scored under 15 goals in a season in the last 9 years. 11/12 - 21 goals 12/13 - 19 goals 13/14 - 23 goals 14/15 - 19 goals 15/16 - 34 goals 16/17 - 20 goals 17/18 - 15 goals 18/19 - 17 goals 19/20 - 14 goals

It'll be even more silly when he finds we want to use him as a right winger ?
-
I was thinking, "That's a bit harsh". Then I challenged myself to think of a worse one. I did eventually manage it, but seems a harsh comparison as he was in my football team and only 10 at the time.
-
I heard he was on money like that. It just shows how football clubs have (or at least had) money to burn at that level. Presumably if he was about to join Fylde, and Liverpool come calling with an offer of £5k a week, he'd have snapped their hands off.

Championship season 2019-20

Absolutely correct, and Mowbray would play him wide right. Bring in a top class central midfielder - play him wide right. Bring in a centre forward - play him wide right. Bring in a right winger - don't give him a game. -
Wigan Administration

Whelan may have done as an ex-Rover, but a lot of their fans revelled in our misfortune. -
Wigan Administration
LeftWinger replied to EgyptianPete's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Completely agree. If they let Wigan off without a 12 point deduction, then Barnsley will surely take legal action and have a good case. -
Wasn't Tom White about 22 when he joined?

Wigan Administration
LeftWinger replied to EgyptianPete's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I spoke to a Wigan fan about him around October last year. He suggested he had a very shaky start, but he felt he was pretty competent later in the season. I feel he's very much a confidence player, which is probably very risky with a keeper. -
Correct. There is something wrong with loaning a clown of a PL keeper though ?

Absolutely not. -
Or more likely we'll get a GLK, LB and CB on loan, spend 5m on a striker no-one has heard of, and then play him on the wing.
