  1. I was telling my Chinese friend about this book and he was getting very confused about who the author was.
  2. Also one of my favourite goals that. Seem to remember him breaking an awful off-side trap (with Big Col at fault), then making the finish look ridiculously easy. Sat Steve Banks down before clipping it over him.
  3. I'll definitely be buying this - my all-time favourite Rover. I was watching the goals from the 00/01 season just yesterday, and you forget how good he was. I know a lot of players who played around that era regard Jansen and Tugay as the two most skillful players they ever played with. I always remember watching his debut against Spurs next to my dad. I was quite excited by him already, before my dad commented that he just kept beating a man, then going back to dribble past him again. He wasn't as impressed by him as I was. Then just after he'd made the comment, Jansen flicked the ball up, spun Sol Campbell and cracked the ball into the bottom corner.
  4. Maybe a couple of full backs and a couple of wingers as well
  5. I did think he would be a good addition at relatively low risk. Definitely should give him a contract as I don't think he would be holding out for massive money.
  6. I think Rovers have had 4 genuinely World Class players in my 25 years watching them. 1) Shearer 2) Duff 3) Friedel 4) Tugay
  7. Not sure what game you were watching - but we were much worse in the second half against Preston than the first. First 10 minutes aside, we were on top in the first half. Second half was an absolute shambles. The stats would back that up as well: First Half Possession: PNE 37%; Rovers 63% Goal Attempts: PNE 4; Rovers 7 Corner Kicks: PNE 2; Rovers 4 Keeper Saves: PNE 4; Rovers 0 Completed Passes: PNE 96; Rovers 189 Second Half Possession: PNE 49%; Rovers 51% Goal Attempts: PNE 11; Rovers 2 Corner Kicks: PNE 2; Rovers 1 Keeper Saves: PNE 1; Rovers 1 Completed Passes: Pne 135; Rovers 146
  8. Added to that, the players don't seem to adapt their style when Graham isn't on the pitch. Lenihan kept firing long aimless balls forward in the first half on Saturday.
  9. Well I was feeling pretty fed up after watching that, so glad I came on here to cheer myself up ?
  10. Just looked at buying online and you can only purchase in Block L (as suggested by Den). They seem to be selling row 4 at the moment. I'm assuming they sell from the front to the back? I don't want to sit that low down, so I'm hanging on a bit before ordering mine.
  11. Mowbray has a record for getting a team promoted from the Championship to the Premier League.
  12. I like that team and set up. Sadly I think we've as much chance as seeing Shearer and Sutton starting tonight as we have of seeing that team.
  13. I genuinely thought I was having a problem with my eyes when I watched the highlights this morning.
  14. While no-one without insider knowledge can say for certain, I'm as confident as I can be that this isn't the case. The deal will become permanent in January. As regards to Rovers being able to cancel it if he gets seriously injured - I very much doubt that is the case as well. I can't see Forest agreeing to that. If he gets injured while he's here, it's our problem.
  15. Ake 20m too. If you include their bench it'll be over 100m I reckon.
  16. Their starting eleven was definitely over 60. Lerma 25, Ibe 15, Cook 7, Ming's 8 for starters off the top of my head.
  17. He's too old and can't play three games in a week.
  18. You are quite correct. But that was the best win under Venkys
  19. Some people seem to be writing him off already - based on a very limited number of minutes, being not match fit and playing out wide. £6/7m may be a lot to Rovers these days - but in the grand scheme of things it's not a big fee in the modern era.
  20. Think it's obvious from what we've seen so far that he's not a winger - although hard to judge until he's got a few matches under his belt in all fairness. The stats also show we play quite a lot of long balls and rely quite a bit on Danny Graham with his hold up play and knock downs - and if he's fit, Graham starts. So I wondered if a 4-3-1-2 would ever be an option. Raya Nyambe - Lenihan - Mulgrew - Bell Bennett - Evans - Reed Dack Brereton - Graham The full backs would have to provide the width - but there is plenty of protection from that midfield three if they get caught out of position. Dack is pretty much a free-role, and then Brereton can play upfront with Graham. There are also several players in that side who can play in different positions if you need to alter the formation during a game.
  21. I went for Graham. Thought he was excellent personally with his hold up play, flick ons and knock downs. Saw a few people on the match thread suggest he was poor. Think they need to have a quiet word with themselves.
  22. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/very-mixed-team-news-aston-15149625 The Birmingham Mail reporting 'Very Mixed Team News' for Rovers. Very mixed news. That's like being offered the opportunity to spend the night with any two women of your choice, but having the excitement dampened by the fact you've run out of Vimto.
