  1. It'll be even more silly when he finds we want to use him as a right winger ?
  2. I was thinking, "That's a bit harsh". Then I challenged myself to think of a worse one. I did eventually manage it, but seems a harsh comparison as he was in my football team and only 10 at the time.
  3. I heard he was on money like that. It just shows how football clubs have (or at least had) money to burn at that level. Presumably if he was about to join Fylde, and Liverpool come calling with an offer of £5k a week, he'd have snapped their hands off.
  4. Absolutely correct, and Mowbray would play him wide right. Bring in a top class central midfielder - play him wide right. Bring in a centre forward - play him wide right. Bring in a right winger - don't give him a game.
  5. Whelan may have done as an ex-Rover, but a lot of their fans revelled in our misfortune.
  6. Completely agree. If they let Wigan off without a 12 point deduction, then Barnsley will surely take legal action and have a good case.
  7. I spoke to a Wigan fan about him around October last year. He suggested he had a very shaky start, but he felt he was pretty competent later in the season. I feel he's very much a confidence player, which is probably very risky with a keeper.
  8. Correct. There is something wrong with loaning a clown of a PL keeper though ?
  9. Or more likely we'll get a GLK, LB and CB on loan, spend 5m on a striker no-one has heard of, and then play him on the wing.
  10. O'Connell is a regular in statistically the 4th best defence in the Premier League this season. Lenihan a regular in the 13th best defence in the Championship. Appreciate there are other members of these defences - but not a chance they'd offer 10m plus O'Connell.
  11. It's just a shame we can't produce players through our own academy of the quality of O'Connell. Oh hang on a minute ?
  12. I've not read what sort of percentage of the stadium they will be allowed to sell tickets for - but lets say it's 35% of seats. We were at 44.5% on average of capacity last season. We'll be losing 9% of our capacity of ticket sales. Forest 90.7% of capacity - lose 55.7% of capacity sold. Bristol City - 79.8% of capacity - lose 44.8% Derby 79.6% of capacity - lose 44.6% And so on. Only Wigan had a lower percentage of capacity for average attendance in the division last season. This will spook other clubs finance guys massively more than ours.
  13. I'm guessing reduced capacity restrictions will have less of an impact on us than others who actually fill their stadiums. If anything it could potentially reduce the value of players and have less of a negative impact on our income than say a Nottingham Forest or a Sheffield Wednesday.
  14. I'd be tempted to try a 4-3-1-2 or a 3-4-1-2 (wing backs), with Dack playing in behind Armstrong and Gallagher and Travis and Holtby deeper.
  15. If anything I think it shows a strong character, as he was probably under pressure to come back and play.
  16. Very difficult to compare these stats when they are in different divisions playing for teams at different positions in the league, but I'd be concerned if Bell was classed as the better of the two defensively. I think my nan is better defensively than Bell (although she's not left footed, so probably not an option).
  17. Mahrez cost Leicester City around £450k. Isn't there an argument that says they could have turned round and said he can't be that good if he's only costing £450k. There's no player of that quality buyable for £450k. Surely it's the scouts job to find the gems that are worth more than the selling club values them.
  18. He's 35 now Ronaldo, so actually older than Graham. It's a big 'no' from me ?
  19. 57 goals in 182 games in 7 years. Scored a couple against Burnley, winning goal at Deepdale to seal promotion, scored in the league cup final win. Maybe not quite legendary status, but he is close for me.
  20. I'm sure Tony Parkes picked Barry Ferguson in his greatest ever Rovers side. In fact he did, comments on him from Parkes here.... BARRY FERGUSON I don't think people saw the best of Barry Ferguson at Blackburn Rovers. He got injured early on when he was just starting to find his feet in the Premiership, and then when he came back from injury he was just starting to flourish again when he moved on to Rangers. To be honest, I could have seen Barry going onto bigger things in the Premiership if he had stayed with us. He might have moved on to one of the big clubs eventually, but whether he ever comes back now or not has got to be doubtful. His decision to go back to Scotland means he will never be judged as a great player because as long as he's up there, he won't be playing against top class opposition week in, week out. For me though, he was a very good midfield player. He could break forward and score goals or he could sit in there and play. He was a good passer, he knew the game, and he could do everything. I'm sure once he'd got the pace of the game down here he would have gone on to become a huge star.
  21. Surely Brad Friedel is in the legendary category. Maybe even Tugay and Jansen.
  22. How old was Salgado when he signed? He did alright for us, other than against Gareth Bale, but you could say that about pretty much any right back in the World at that point.
  23. That lists his weaknesses as 'Tackling'. Ideal for a full back. He'll fit right in ?
