  1. An absolute ridiculous gamble to take. The bookies have us at between 7/2 and 6/1 to get promoted - suggesting they reckon there is a likelihood of between 78 and 86% chance that we WON'T get promoted. Then we risk losing Nyambe, Holtby, Rothwell and JRC for next to nothing and making us even less likely to get promoted next season.
  2. I don't think they are as big a part of the game as they used to be - due to the change in formations. Gone are the days of the old-fashioned winger getting to the byline and whipping a cross in for one of the two strikers in the middle. I miss the days of Ripley beating his man and Shearer thumping a header home or Bentley creating a bit of space and putting it on Santa Cruz' head.
  3. He was only there for one season?
  4. Oldham and Barrow is 5 wins out 40 - so 12.5%. He won 2 out of 4 at Blackpool though as well - so that bumps him up to 15.9%
  5. If there is, private message me the full time score and first scorer later on and I'll have a bet tomorrow.
  6. How does that work if he moves overseas though? I seem to remember a lad on that Sunderland documentary making a move oveseas and they missed out on any compensation.
  7. A member of Blackburn's ground staff travelling with the squad noted that the pitch for an exhibition match was too long. He asked for the grass to be cut, reasonably expecting that the blades on the lawnmowers would be lowered accordingly. The groundsman was shocked to say the least when he returned to find a small army of female employees from Venky's on their hands and knees, sheltered from the searing Indian sun by parasols, meticulously cutting the grass using scissors and rulers. 'He thought it was some kind of joke,' says one insider. 'At that point we really knew we were in trouble.' Christ.
  8. Depends entirely what the individual involved is prepared to accept or what offers he has from elsewhere. He's not going to accept a £1k a week pay as you pay contract if someone offers him a higher guaranteed wage elsewhere.
  9. Not true. He started the QPR game that we won and put in a blinder of a 5 minute cameo before he went off injured ?
  10. 73% of games actually where we've scored either 0 or 3+
  11. I get what you're saying, but if we've got serious promotion aspirations, we need to be beating Barnsley at home.
  12. I was thinking about the youth side of it the other day. Lenihan, Wharton, Nyambe all started in defence against PNE - all home grown. We've also got Travis to come back and JRC and Buckley in and around the first team as well.
  13. One comment I notice on their forum relating to the fact they didn't even have a corner. They were questioning when the last time they didn't have a shot on target or a corner in a game. I've had a look back over the last three years where they've failed to score and can't find any other time they've not had either a shot on goal or a corner in a game. Can't be bothered going back any further than that. Posession 25% Shots on goal 0 Corners 0 Pathetic effort.
  14. A proper centre-half is what we've been crying out for - hopefully Wharton can develop into that. I'd love a Short type centre half right now.
  15. Did you see the late equaliser Stoke had ruled out last night for a foul on the keeper? Absolutely ridiculous.
  16. So we should have conceded at least one in the 49% he was up against Douglas surely? ?
  17. The other bit of play I really enjoyed was Rothwell's assist for Brereton. Great burst of pace, draws in the defender and plays the ball at the perfect time to release Brereton. For a player who often plays with his head down a bit, the vision of what was going on around him was excellent.
  18. Re: Gallagher It's worth noting where he's run from to win the penalty. He's about 20 yards inside his own half when the ball is played. 6 seconds later he's being brought down in the box. Fantastic determination and pace - but even better for the fact he's had to take a couple of touches with the ball (from just inside their half) and managed to get his body across the defender to draw the foul. Great forward play.
  19. Does anyone know when Kaminski can come out of isolation? I'm pretty sure he was isolating in our own half at Deepdale yesterday ?
  20. One thing that amused me on watching the highlights was listening to the stadium announcer calling out the names of the Rovers goal scorers. I'm not sure how he kept himself from laughing when he announced Dolan's goal. He's a big Rovers fan ?
  21. Well I'll hold my hands up and say I was horrified to see Sam Gallagher playing on the wing when I saw his name on the team sheet. That worked out pretty well in the end, so credit where credit is due.
  22. Just going to bring this one up ?
