The bookies have us at between 7/2 and 6/1 to get promoted - suggesting they reckon there is a likelihood of between 78 and 86% chance that we WON'T get promoted. Then we risk losing Nyambe, Holtby, Rothwell and JRC for next to nothing and making us even less likely to get promoted next season.

I don't think they are as big a part of the game as they used to be - due to the change in formations. Gone are the days of the old-fashioned winger getting to the byline and whipping a cross in for one of the two strikers in the middle. I miss the days of Ripley beating his man and Shearer thumping a header home or Bentley creating a bit of space and putting it on Santa Cruz' head.

I was thinking about the youth side of it the other day. Lenihan, Wharton, Nyambe all started in defence against PNE - all home grown. We've also got Travis to come back and JRC and Buckley in and around the first team as well.

One comment I notice on their forum relating to the fact they didn't even have a corner. They were questioning when the last time they didn't have a shot on target or a corner in a game. I've had a look back over the last three years where they've failed to score and can't find any other time they've not had either a shot on goal or a corner in a game. Can't be bothered going back any further than that. Posession 25% Shots on goal 0 Corners 0 Pathetic effort.

A proper centre-half is what we've been crying out for - hopefully Wharton can develop into that. I'd love a Short type centre half right now.

The other bit of play I really enjoyed was Rothwell's assist for Brereton. Great burst of pace, draws in the defender and plays the ball at the perfect time to release Brereton. For a player who often plays with his head down a bit, the vision of what was going on around him was excellent.

Re: Gallagher It's worth noting where he's run from to win the penalty. He's about 20 yards inside his own half when the ball is played. 6 seconds later he's being brought down in the box. Fantastic determination and pace - but even better for the fact he's had to take a couple of touches with the ball (from just inside their half) and managed to get his body across the defender to draw the foul. Great forward play.

Does anyone know when Kaminski can come out of isolation? I'm pretty sure he was isolating in our own half at Deepdale yesterday ?

One thing that amused me on watching the highlights was listening to the stadium announcer calling out the names of the Rovers goal scorers. I'm not sure how he kept himself from laughing when he announced Dolan's goal. He's a big Rovers fan ?

Well I'll hold my hands up and say I was horrified to see Sam Gallagher playing on the wing when I saw his name on the team sheet. That worked out pretty well in the end, so credit where credit is due.
