I know Bristol City have been fairly poor for the last few months, but 3/1 is a good price for a team that's won their last three away from home against a side also in poor form that is missing it's two biggest goal threats.

Rhodes was definitely a better finisher than Armstrong. I personally think Armstrong has more chance of making it in the Premier League though - I never thought Rhodes would make it. An absolute shadow of his former self these days as well going off his goals record.

These figures are slightly skewed due to Mowbray getting a season in League One, but these are the win percentages of all Venky's permanent appointments: Mowbray - 41.3% Lambert - 36.4% Bowyer - 35.9% Coyle - 29.7% Kean - 28.4% Appleton - 26.7% Berg - 10% Some absolute shockers there. Mowbray's win percentage actually drops to 36% when you take out the League One campaign, so he's in the Lambert/Bowyer territory.

In fact, only one person managed it 😂 Lennon - 110 games (70% won) Rodgers - 169 games (69.8% won) Deila - 118 games (63.6% won) Lennon - 227 games (70% won) Mowbray - 45 games (51.1% won) Strachan - 203 games (65% won) O'Neill - 282 games (75.5% won)

But for someone like Wilder, who has an exceptional record at smaller clubs, there is always the doubt at whether he could do it at a big club. I think if the likes of Wilder or Dyche went to Celtic and succeeded, their CV's would look a lot stronger. They've only got one other side to get above.

Hadn't considered Celtic - but you'd think that would be a definite option for him. They might be able to attract a more high profile candidate, I doubt they'd get a much better one.

I've just looked through all the Premier League and Championship managers - and I'm not sure where else there is for Wilder to go. I wonder if Allardyce will hang around at WBA if they get relegated - they might be an option. You'd think Newcastle with their delusions of grandeur would expect someone more high profile. Championship clubs - 13 of the 24 managers have been in a job less than a year. Mowbray must be the most at risk out of the rest. I doubt he'll go abroad and he won't drop below the Championship. GET HIM IN!

Wilder is superior to Wagner IMO. Wagner: Borussia Dortmund II - 164 games (34.8% won) Huddersfield Town - 154 games (33.1% won) Schalke - 40 games (30% won) Wilder: Halifax - 312 games (38.5% won) Oxford - 260 games (45% won) Northampton - 126 games (48.4% won) Sheffield United - 227 games (46.7% won) Admittedly, Wagner has probably had the highest profile job at Schalke, but Wilder has a far superior win percentage and didn't just keep Sheffield United up in that first season, but took them to a 9th place finish. Considering Sheffield United's record this season, Wilders win percentage there is incredible.

Sheffield United had won 7 of their last 14 games. Compared to Mowbray winning 4 of his last 14.

That's the problem though isn't it - usually you'd expect the CEO or equivalent to be putting the feelers out. Not a chance Waggott would do that to Mowbray.

I watched 'Under the Cosh' with David Dunn recently. He said he got a bollocking off Big Sam in training for shooting from distance. Sam started shouting out statistics of how many goals are scored from distance and how many are scored from getting the ball wide and crosses into the box. Dunn was a bit perplexed, but Big Sam whispered to him something about it being fine for him to shoot from there, he just didn't want the rest of them thinking they had the ability to do it 😂

I was interested to see the stats on this after reading your post. In the last 3 seasons (2 full and most of this one) under Mowbray: Games fallen behind: 68 Games won after falling behind: 4 In Hughes final season 07/08 Games fallen behind: 21 Games won after falling behind 6 We got 23 points from losing positions that season. A real bunch of battlers.

I wouldn't say Jon Parkin and Chris Brown x 2 offer a great deal at all, but I still enjoy them. I watched the Marc Bircham one as well, there's a man who likes the sound of his own voice.

I remember Souness saying something similar about Martin Taylor when he was here. 6'5" but just not nasty enough with it. I seem to remember them shaving his head to make him appear tougher, but he was still too nice ever be an aggressive centre half.
