  1. His assist for the 5th goal against Wycombe was pretty special. In general, I agree with what you're saying though. I've never particularly thought he stood out and he looks way too lightweight. At 21, he's not even 'that' young. I have however been very wrong about young players in the past. I didn't think much of Bentley when he was on loan here for example.
  2. And before anyone says not even Mowbray has managed one that bad....
  3. And then you get the rare breed like Shearer who scores and creates. He was one of the best crossers of the ball I've seen - it was a shame he couldn't get on the end of some of his own crosses sometimes. 1994/95 34 league goals (9 goals more than 2nd top scorer Robbie Fowler) 13 league assists (Only Le Tissier and Anderton got more) Sutton chipped in with 15 goals and 10 assists as well. Stats taken from: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994–95_FA_Premier_League
  4. We would certainly win more matches under Sam. The football would be horrendous though. The days under Allardyce were the first time I ever missed a game when I had a season ticket as there were other things I'd rather be doing. Effective, but awful to watch. Admittedly, I'd take a scrappy promotion.
  5. There's a frightening sentence - especially when you're spelling Kean like that 😂
  6. Although... With Lenihan and Tosin together: Played 25 Conceded 27 Clean Sheets 8 Win Percentage: 48% Without Lenihan and Tosin together: Played 24 Conceded 41 Clean Sheets 4 Win Percentage: 25%
  7. Not surprising though - we're only 5 games off the half way point of the season.
  8. Of course, take last season for example. We only won 35% of games without Bradley Dack. This jumped to a whopping 39% of games with him 😂
  9. Maybe go for Harry Kane while we are at it for some competition for Armstrong.
  10. Just for fun, but in your years of watching Rovers, which manager do you think you’d have most liked to have played for? Different people react differently to different manager styles, so I’d expect quite a wide range of answers. It’s not even necessarily who you think are the best managers, but which one would get the most out of you as a boss. My top 3 would be: Kenny Dalglish – Purely for the fact it’s ‘Kenny Dalglish’. I think you’d play for him just because of his reputation within the game and he was the reason we attracted so many good players when he came in. He also seems a likeable kind of guy. Mark Hughes – I just like his personality as a manager and you’d think he would be someone you’d want to play for. Seemingly quite a quiet manager, but has a certain aura around him. Sam Allardyce – I’m not particularly a fan of Allardyce, but I remember hearing a story from Stephen Warnock about how he took the players on a night out abroad and left them with his credit card and told them to enjoy themselves. Warnock said after that incident, players would run through walls for him. I imagine he’s the sort of boss that looks after his players. Outside of Rovers, out of the current Premier League bosses - I think I'd most liked to have played for Klopp, Mourinho, Rodgers and Lampard.
  11. An absolute ridiculous gamble to take. The bookies have us at between 7/2 and 6/1 to get promoted - suggesting they reckon there is a likelihood of between 78 and 86% chance that we WON'T get promoted. Then we risk losing Nyambe, Holtby, Rothwell and JRC for next to nothing and making us even less likely to get promoted next season.
  12. I don't think they are as big a part of the game as they used to be - due to the change in formations. Gone are the days of the old-fashioned winger getting to the byline and whipping a cross in for one of the two strikers in the middle. I miss the days of Ripley beating his man and Shearer thumping a header home or Bentley creating a bit of space and putting it on Santa Cruz' head.
  13. He was only there for one season?
  14. Oldham and Barrow is 5 wins out 40 - so 12.5%. He won 2 out of 4 at Blackpool though as well - so that bumps him up to 15.9%
  15. If there is, private message me the full time score and first scorer later on and I'll have a bet tomorrow.
  16. How does that work if he moves overseas though? I seem to remember a lad on that Sunderland documentary making a move oveseas and they missed out on any compensation.
  17. A member of Blackburn's ground staff travelling with the squad noted that the pitch for an exhibition match was too long. He asked for the grass to be cut, reasonably expecting that the blades on the lawnmowers would be lowered accordingly. The groundsman was shocked to say the least when he returned to find a small army of female employees from Venky's on their hands and knees, sheltered from the searing Indian sun by parasols, meticulously cutting the grass using scissors and rulers. 'He thought it was some kind of joke,' says one insider. 'At that point we really knew we were in trouble.' Christ.
  18. Depends entirely what the individual involved is prepared to accept or what offers he has from elsewhere. He's not going to accept a £1k a week pay as you pay contract if someone offers him a higher guaranteed wage elsewhere.
  19. Not true. He started the QPR game that we won and put in a blinder of a 5 minute cameo before he went off injured ?
  20. 73% of games actually where we've scored either 0 or 3+
