You have to think it will make younger, ambitious managers think twice about coming here going forward. JDT's outspoken nature has revealed clearly to everyone that he's been lied to, messed around and then kept here against his will despite offering to leave for free on good terms. Anyone with sense and options is going to give us a wide berth, leaving us with chancers, managers in the last chance saloon and total unknown punts.

The step up from the Championship to the PL is pretty huge. Was a bit unfair to chuck Wharton in today imo, and Hodgson paid for that mistake. As an experienced manager he should know better. It's a very weird situation. GB clearly thought that money would be available from the Wharton sale. Somebody must have told him this. Hence the permanent deal for McGuire being all but done. Then all of a sudden the rules change, and suddenly we can't sign anybody for a transfer fee. McGuire transfer and any involving permanent fees thrown in the bin. Can't blame GB for that if this is what happened. With that said, we had enough time to complete the loan deal, so if it's once again a case of fucking up the paperwork then it's sheer incompetence. If it's a case of Venky's/Suhail interfering again to make submitting the paperwork a nightmare then it's on them. JDT suggesting to ask Steve, Suhail and the owners perhaps gives us a clue.

It's actually what we all thought - he was absolutely fuming at the state of yet another terrible transfer window and was going to unload if allowed to speak. Evidently he's been instructed to say nothing, but what he's just said is enough without him having to break any rules imposed upon him.

The forgetfulness of how rubbish Gallagher is always wears off so fast after injury. Then sets back in just as quick afterwards. Lad would be solid for us if we were playing the likes of Wrexham every week. Alas we'll have to wait a couple of years for that. Maybe he'll still be here.

I think the vast majority of people would have to go with option 2, but then most of us haven't spent decades in a field that pays incredibly high salaries, so it's impossible to judge how badly JDT would be affected by being out of work for a few months. If he's been sensible with his money then one would assume he could prioritise his wellbeing and sanity over a contract payoff. There's also his future to take into consideration. His contract doesn't expire until summer 2025, so if he waits for a payoff that never comes, that's another year and a half of dealing with this nonsense. With the way things are going it seems unlikely things will improve any time soon, and there's the real prospect of him ending up with a relegation on his CV. Of course he can point to the utter dysfunction at the club, but if the subsequent question is "if it was clear you couldn't achieve what you wanted because of the club hierarchy, why did you stay?" and the answer is "because I wanted a payoff" that obviously isn't a great look. Fact is JDT may well need the money, if so then yeah, sure, makes sense that he begrudgingly slogs on. Could be that he feels like quitting would be giving up and his pride won't let him do that. Could be that he doesn't want to uproot again, assuming he and his wife have settled here. There are many reasons why he could be choosing to stay, but if none of those are a significant factor then it won't surprise me at all if he decides he's had enough and walks out. I suppose we'll see soon enough.

Depends on my financial situation. I would assume JDT is not living paycheck to paycheck and would be able to find work elsewhere with his reputation and his achievements last season with us and Malmo recently. I can't imagine he'd be destitute the moment he left Rovers. Sometimes it's about more than just money.

There's a difference between the jabs he's made and coming out and going scorched earth on the club, which has to be the suggestion of what was going to happen if he was blocked from attending the press conference. Either way we don't know at the moment so it's all speculation until our shambles of a leadership clarifies what in the world is going on. I would agree that at a normal club the onus would be on them to remove the manager if they feel the situation has reached an untenable point. This isn't a normal club, however, so JDT has to consider his own reputation and how much it could be damaged by remaining at this circus for too much longer. For the past year he's sucked it up and continued on amidst the nonsense happening above him, but at some point he may have to accept enough is enough and move on for his own sake. You'd think it has to be a pretty miserable working environment for him at this point.
