Now 'they' are blaming the pitches drying up and becoming slower as the game goes on.

He pulled off a few amazing saves. But the truth is, you can't have a keeper that contributes to causing panic in the box almost every time there's a cross or corner. He didn't improve in that regard and it would be far too simplistic to say it was because of his head injury - as all those faults were obvious way before that happened. It will be interesting to see if he improves in that regard at Brentford - if so, then we could probably lookt o blame the GK coaching at Rovers (just part of the gravy train?). Time will tell. I look forward to him saving a penalty against Rovers and possibly pulling off a Worldie. ?

Your expectations for the coming Season...

To be perfectly honest it fills me with turgid dread. I have a feeling we'll be revisiting the days of Grounhog Gaz with some fans expressing disapproval and the happy clappers saying that it's great we've got stability (i.e. - no ambition). There's always 2020-21 though. Onwards and upwards! -
Into the World Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1992 - basically since ancient times. Will the England cricket team be the ones to break the England sports teams semi-final hoodoo of recent times? Our semi will more than likely be against India in their own back yard. Tough, very tough! Especially as those guys won't be taking it so light this time.

Yep! It looks more like a homage to the Herb God and the Californian cannabis laws.

You're right, the rule needs changing. Perhaps it's time to get rid of the offside rule all together. That would help clear things up. Surely the game needs more open play goals? VAR use in it's current state is in danger of making the game even staler than it already is - with less open play goals - no live goal celebrations and many more penalty kicks.

Give him Mowbray's job, before it's too late . . .?
-
Yes. She was about to put the ball in the net from just yards out when her leg was taken. In terms of stopping a goalscoring chance you can't really get more stone-wall than that. More often than not penalties are given when there's little to no immediate danger at all. Another thing that's nice to see in the women's game is that they in the most part take the officials decisions with very good grace (Cameroon apart, lol) with no chasing and crowding the ref. That's something that for some reason they don't seem to want to stamp out of the men's game. It's going to be seriously weird watching Premier league again with all the spoilt babies crying round the officials for half the game. It's about time they gave immediate yellow cards for dissent or at least set up some kind of 5-10 minute sin bin for whining. That would make the boringly predictable Premier league much more interesting - with Arsenal more than likely in the relegation fight.

It was a bit strange really. For all that dicking around and giving the ball away at the back The USA only had one chance when the keeper passed it straight to their player and she curled it wide.
-
I don't know how any 'men only' football fans could not have loved that. It was typical of the English loser mentality. Either bottling it like last year when favourites or plucky losers when deserving more - like tonight and 1990. So we move on to 57 year's of hurt - as the next real world cup won't be until 2023. ?
-
I knew she wasn't taking a big enough run up. England women's penalty taking is stuck in the men's past. Why not White? The finisher?
-
Don't you just love VAR. You can't cheer goals in this WC.
-
She does look like a rugby player. Top speed match up though.... White 28.4kmph Morgan 26.2kmph Their spying mission is paying off though. Those balls and those headers...and no funny hair Trump hater on the pitch.
-
Cometh the hour cometh the (wo)man! Unlike the men's team that completely bottled it when favourites in last year's WC semi - England are massive underdogs tonight, so nothing to lose.
-
Crikey! England batting like they are trying to save a Test Match. Are they the only team that has ever started batting like they are 100-6 when actually dominating at 200-1? So frustrating.

These guys don't even have that 'excuse' - unless they'd already been on the lash all night. https://twitter.com/LiveMagazinepak/status/1145022296232538112?s=19 Anyway, some of them seem to be provocatively dressed up like The Taliban. Surely that's offensive? I'm sure a 'Hitler' wouldn't have even been allowed to enter. I suspect that had this been England fans it would have been headline news 'Rampaging thugs ripped up metal objects and threw them whilst little children fled in terror'.

Since the England thread already has a bit of overspill, there's no better place to post this: It's always nice to see The Germans get knocked out!

Jesus Christ! How thick can you get? I think i've just seen one of the most stupid decisions in cricketing history. Afghanistan putting the squeeze on, bamboozling the Pakistanis with spin. Needing 46 from 30 balls. So the captain then brings himself on and bowls some rank bad pop gun medium pace bungers and the over goes for 18 and hence the game!! Seriously!!??? Bizarre!!! AND i'm used to bizarre having had to suffer years of Mowbray and the Tombola man.
-
Scrapping at the cricket? Pretty unheard of. It all sounds very 'diverse'. The usual suspects won't be able to blame this one on 'drunken yobs'. I've never seen this before, Ever! and i've been to games such as The Ashes and several T20 rowdy drinkfests like Finals Day and other games involving Lancs and The Dingles (including sitting in the Western Terrace and the 'we all hate Leeds scum' stand at Old Trafford). ?
-
Funnily enough I found myself thinking that Bell would have got destroyed in the same situation. As for England's 3rd goal. I don't think there's a current Rovers player that can hit a ball like that.
-
Just wondering why that handball wasn't a penalty (for France) bearing in mind what has been given in the competition so far??
-
Calm down guys. It's England in the World Cup, which is a whole lot better than watching that African nations kick fest crap or that Messi joke testimonial tournament with Qatar and Japan. England simply have to change their penalty taker though. Everyone knew where that was going - even the keeper stood slightly to her left to give her that gap. She's fluffed 3 in the tournament now (albeit one went in).
-
England 2-0 up in a World Cup quarter final. WOW! I haven't seen this since. . . .
-
I notice that the media have gone pretty quiet on how crap England's 'youth' teams seem to have become. Wot? No more 'up and coming golden generation'??
