  1. Regardless of what league it was in it is always nice to remember a player fondly. I loved Smallwood in our league 1 days, and spent many a night chewing my pals ears off about the King of Ewood. Hope he gets a decent club to go to and play football again.
  2. This Whiteman name has been popping up on here for a while now. If he comes, then fair play. He is 22 and captain of his club, which says a lot in my opinion. If he does come I'd like to see us loan Davenport out though.
  3. Luke Garbutt at left back isn’t the worst shout in the world either
  4. 'Twas a different time for us then Exiled. We had European nights coming up and some fantastic players on our books. I'd have hoped Jansen would have stuck around and we could have achieved even more. Sven has a lot to answer for. The boy should have been in an England training camp. As you say...what if?
  5. With all these departures it leaves me wondering only one thing.... ...Who is booking Elliott Bennett's taxi out of here? Not good enough and will only hold us back by getting into the squad on the back of determination, training hard and being a jolly good bloke to manage.
  6. I had a soft spot for Samuel I have to say. Looked a tidy enough player in his first couple of games for us, although it was in a different league. I can't say I will miss him as a player for Rovers but I am bit sorry he never cut the mustard here.
  7. My reaction has been contained to the BRFCS messageboard, of which I'm certain Danny Graham doesn't read or at least won't do from today. If Warren Lucy is reading then he has had his first history lesson into Blackburn Rovers and with any luck won't be calling Elliott Bennett a club legend when he leaves on a free in 12 months time. It wasn't at all meant in any seriousness by myself, and I'm sure Matty isn't going to go and picket the social media suite either, but more a discussion of how the phrase legend is too commonly banded about nowadays. I'll pull myself together don't you worry
  8. Then Warren Lucy is just another bloke at Rovers who is bad at his job. He probably doesn't have a clue about football though, and done a social media influencer course at an old polytech university. Now he is earning mid 20k a year to post absolute tripe on our social media page and has never bothered to look up our history. It wouldn't surprise me if there's a program in place which tells him about key dates and when to post what "throwback". I won't get too angry at him for calling DG a club legend because it is Danny Graham but it isn't true. We name stands after legends, build statues for them and still sing their names even to this day - Danny Graham won't have a song for him even next season.
  9. You would pay £350.00 for a product you have no idea whether or not you will receive or even if you do how much of that product you'll receive? Clubs should have tickets on sale because it is the right thing to do business wise - but I wouldn't be buying one until I know how many games I could watch for that money. It might be better value for money with pre-booked individual tickets for all I know. The Club just aren't proactive in absolutely anything though. I was looking at our ticket website in comparison to the Aston Villa tickets website only earlier - the level of information just isn't even comparable. It's frightening how poor we are for marketing our brand and we are even worse at engaging with our customer base, ensuring they are regularly checking our website or otherwise. Other clubs have "reimbursment details" and FAQs about the covid-19 situation but we have barely anything. Just embarrassing more than anything.
  10. Yeah, fair point. I don't want people to link Danny Graham to Rovers legendary status I won't lie. There are a lot of worse things that could happen to us though. I think he scored 50 goals, which isn't case for legendary status at any club, let alone a club steeped in history and success like Rovers. There's far more players above him in the pecking order like Jansen, Kevin Gallagher, Sutton and that's not even considering the actual players we'd consider legends. Legend is becoming a too commonly used phrase to describe footballers relationships with clubs.
  11. Matty that's more of a sign of how social media influences the views of others than the state of our club. They have tweeted that because it is more likely to be retweeted, liked and commented on than a simple thanks for your services. Danny Graham will never be spoken about in the same bracket as the players you have mentioned by the people that count - the fans. He has done everything asked of him in a Rovers shirt and he's not a player I would ever bad mouth, but I'm certainly not going to call him a club legend and I doubt he'd disagree with that himself!
  12. I think on the whole fans of Rovers will show patience for our youngsters, Parson. Football forums are usually quite critical places but there's one or two posters on here that take the biscuit with the criticisms of youth players. JRC and Buckley have looked good when played. I'll be honest, I have a soft spot with Rankin-Costello because he won the World Player of the Year for me on Football Manager once (tongue in cheek before the Sky Sports stat debate squad jump on me). In all seriousness though I know I am not the only one that is enjoying seeing the academy players push their way into the first team squad. I'm looking forward to seeing more of Carter in truth, I don't think he looked bad in his two games for us. He looks tall, composed enough on the ball and if he can cut them silly sideways passes out of his game he can be a real player. Tosin stands above him and Lenihan because he can pass forward every time. He's going to be a miss next season. In reality I think Carter would be more suited to a loan move away and for us to try and bring in a centre back and have Wharton as our 3rd choice. In the absence of funds these boys will have to step up and show what they are made of.
  13. I'll miss Danny Graham. I have enjoyed having him as a Rovers player and he has given us a good return in the twilight of his career. If he wants to stick around and teach Brereton how to hold a ball up and develop link up play it would be much appreciated. Him and Bradley Dack had a terrific partnership.
  14. There speaks a man who has never played football in his life if you genuinely believe he has a portion of blame to take for that own goal. The ball literally hit his head after going through a crowd - where is the blame there? I’d be extremely impressed if anyone had the reactions to avoid the ball there
  15. Yet it did nothing. I was one of them Mark. Mowbray isn’t the same category as Kean. What I offered was my view, and that remains, don’t take away the support for your club because of a temporary member of staff. You are of course free to do whatever you want.
  16. If, after all we have been through, last season was enough to turn you away from the Club then I'd suggest you are over reacting a little bit. Calling people Mowbrayites just shows you aren't looking at it from a reasonable perspective. Yes, the season was incredibly frustrating, but we have been delivered a hell of a lot worse over the past 10 years, and there's at least signs of some young players making their way into the squad. You have probably never seen the Cowley brothers' teams play regularly, he hardly turned up trees at Huddersfield, but the reason you'd buy a ticket for Rovers if a manager changes is because you are a fan of the Club, not the manager. In my eyes letting that overshadow your support is cutting your nose off to spite your face. Each to their own though. Abstaining watching the club because of a manager is pointless.
  17. That defence was crying out for a Pontus Janson in it last season. No amount of training can force a player to put their head to it in a game situation. We just don't have the players for it. Bradley Johnson is meant to be brilliant in the air but I don't see it defensively myself. He's a lost cause for Rovers and clearly disinterested.
  18. Doesn't Ainsworth have a reputation for playing turgid football? I think he's done an unbelievable job at Wycombe but I like the way we are trying to pass about and play in a way which is more in time with modern football. The youth are much better at it than our senior players... I'd always take a manager who has a proven track record of success regardless of the football on offer but I'd much prefer it if we could find an identity of attacking play but that is just a supporters dream I guess.
  19. It's back!! Less than 24 hours after our season ends the infamous "pacy *position" buzzphrase is back. Love this thread.
  20. Despite a rather unlucky own goal I quite liked the look of Carter last night. He got skinned a few times and to be honest Luton's attackers were poor but he dealt with most things well enough. Can't help but feel that Rankin-Costello has way more to offer us going forward than he does at left back. People cried out for Chapman's crosses but he delivered a good few in yesterday and no one got on the end of them. His first touch and pass is excellent too. I like him. Buckley had a decent run about when he came on. You can see the quality in that boy. He did a brilliant first time pass to Bradley Johnson as the ball was coming down that Johnson was far too slow to read. On Johnson - worst player on the pitch yesterday. I'm done with him. I'm enjoying watching us have so many academy players in our squad at the moment, and really do think they are quality enough to come good. You can see that the young lads on the pitch are all steps ahead of Johnson, Bennett, Bell, Williams etc. Mowbray needs to decide what his aims are, if we can't afford to go out and buy players then commit to a plan and give these players the time they deserve. JRC needs to be played further up the pitch, maybe out wide and Buckley needs to play more games in a midfield 3 with Travis and Evans. Does anyone know what has happened to Butterworth? He looked a real player in his couple of appearances a while back and I thought he'd be knocking on the door this season.
  21. It has also been announced that the points deduction will be made after todays game. A loss or draw vs Fulham means Wigan will be relegated. Come on Cairney you beautiful man!
  22. Quite a few, yeah. Nobody is perfect. Not to the level he raves about Buckley though. Point is he's not the only one raving about him.
  23. Yep, and they haven't exactly ran the business their father handed them into the ground either. In fact it has grown, and continues to grow, and they continue to exert influence all over the world with offices from Switzerland to South Africa. From nutrition drinks to genetically modified chickens they oversee the whole lot with an assumed competence, otherwise why would the business be so big? Maybe it is a very slight touch of a superiority complex with some fans that they try and dismiss the foreign owners as incompetent. The truth is they are far from it - they are ruthless business people and once the unseen benefit of owning Rovers fades away they will drop us without remorse. I think the Venkys are very calculated people, who have managed to drive a huge wedge between the fan base and club, and continue to operate in ways that absolves them from any accountability.
  24. Huh??? I reckon it is more of a twitter bot account myself than Mowbray trying to sell a player he starts whenever he is fit.
  25. What did Dack say about Travis? I personally think he is one of the more accomplished footballers in our squad. He needs to work on getting rid in tricky situations but other than that he's a real baller. Can pass, can tackle, isn't slow off the mark, can turn and strike it if needs be. The only thing he lacks is that late run into the box that separates good midfielders from brilliant midfielders.
