  1. Indeed Gav, boxing somehow seemed more exciting back then. As for Minter, for all he was our best at the time, and a worthy champion, 'Boom Boom' was never in the class of the others on your list there. He had a big punch but was very susceptible to cuts, which if memory serves me right was how he lost 25% of his professional bouts. RIP Alan Minter.
  2. Christie - Yellow River
  3. Hawkwind - Damnation Alley
  4. And even better to see Burnley back in the 4th Division ?
  5. Ha ha I just spent ages trying to work out which season this might be then saw the bloody years in the top right hand corner of the wallchart!! Class though, and I remember them well (mine would have been 1970s though)
  6. Impossible to confidently predict where we might finish at the end of this season, partly due to the blooding of several youngsters, which could go either way, and partly due to the nature of the championship. But as in every season, we start with a clean slate and hope in our hearts. COYB!!!!

  8. Diana Ross - Doobedood'ndoobe Doobedood'ndoobe Doobedood'ndoo
  9. Spot on. I was going to say it sums up the arrogance of young professional footballers but that would be doing a disservice to the Marcus Rashfords of this world.
  10. I hear Foden and Greenwood are about to be sent home for breaching COVID-19 rules. Silly, silly boys!!
  11. United's number 10 possibly Frank Stapleton or Norman Whiteside?
  12. The Smiths - Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now
  13. Electric Light Orchestra - King of the Universe
  14. I hadn’t even realised England were playing yesterday and I only found out when I spotted this thread. Kinda sums things up for me at the moment. Meh.
  15. What a bunch of chokers ha ha ha
  16. I fractured skull, cheekbone, jaw, eye socket and nose and was only hit once (the guy headed me instead of the ball, at full force and he also hurt himself quite badly in the process). Ironically it was my first game back after breaking all 5 metatarsals in one OTT challenge In the first minute of a game - the guy got a red card. The only two times I ever broke bones on a football park. I wasn’t meaning to pick an argument with you mate but this is one subject I do know a bit about and Evans’s injuries were ‘normal’. As I have repeatedly stated, he does miss too many games though.
  17. Without really wanting to get into a tit-for-tat about the semantics of what you actually posted, you speculated that he had weak bones, possibly the onset of some sort of osteoporosis, because he was unlucky enough to have broken bones in two separate parts of his body in relatively quick succession. You also reckoned that anyone else wouldn't have broken as many facial bones as Evans did (based on goodness-knows what?) an opinion which you have pretty much made up to suit your 'weak bones' theory. That is where the 'ill informed' comment emanates from. Anyone who has seen either injury would know that both of those challenges were bone-breakers and not indicative of anything other than bad luck. As someone who had an identical injury many years ago, for him to get back playing again so soon after that facial injury took a huge amount of guts so I'm not sure we should be speculating about some made-up underlying problem that he may or may not have. Nobody is arguing about the fact that he is injury prone - some players just are.
  18. Ha ha Melanie - Brand New Key
  19. With the greatest respect, although I will agree totally that he does seem to be unlucky with injuries, your weak-boned theory and osteoporosis diagnosis is ill-informed. Probably best to just stick to 'injury prone', which I don't think anybody would argue with. Even that doesn't necessarily mean he isn't 'rugged'.
  20. The facial injury he got was absolutely nothing to do with weak bones. There isn't a human alive that would have withstood that impact without a smashed face to show for it.
  21. Billy Paul - Meehan Mrs Jones (I'll get me coat....)
  22. Ha ha - yeah it wouldn't surprise me mate.
  23. I would be happy to allow a parent and child to use mine on the many weeks I couldn't, I wonder if we could set up a 'buddying' scheme?
  24. I haven't had one for 5 or 6 years now (and even then I can only get to a max of 10 home games a season as I live in Scotland) but I'm going to buy two this season, one for me and one for my sister, simply because I have no other way of supporting the club as such. And because I am extremely lucky enough to be able to afford to do so.
  25. The Beatles - Oh Darling
