  1. @arbitro my partner’s cousin is reffing today’s game Tony. Anthony Backhouse, a Carlisle lad. Hope I’m not putting the mockers on him but he normally has a good game whenever I’ve seen him.
  2. Harsh Reality - Tobacco Ash Sunday
  3. Neil Young - Roll Another Number For the Road
  4. You may have missed the irony - I'm fairly sure that's what it was anyway.

  6. This has to be done I'm afraid..... Marvin Gaye - I 'Heard' It Through the Grapevine
  7. Are we sure Tony didn't say we have signed a 'keeper' not a 'Kipre'? That Teeside accent can be a right bugger.
  8. The Jam - Life From a Window
  9. Simply Red - Look At You Now
  10. Same Mark. I used to love that blue, amber and white kit.
  11. Roman Road - a lot of the schools and youth teams used those pitches as I recall?
  12. Nasty Mark! Coldest I’ve ever been on a footie pitch was at YMCA in Mellor during a particularly bad blizzard. Blacksnape was very exposed to the elements - my last Lancashire house in Hoddlesden looked onto those pitches; happy memories mate!
  13. Not to mention Bell and Johnson
  14. Welcome to Ewood Park, Knobcracker.

  19. I wonder if it was the same fella Tony ha ha ha
  20. Elvis Costello and the Attractions - Everyday I Write the Book
  21. Indeed, and only second by 6 balls as well! Which is incredible and the equivalent of about a 1.5 second gap in a marathon race given that Jimmy and Kumble both bowled 30,000+ deliveries to reach 600 wickets.
  22. I have no idea mate - but anyone who wore them back then stuck out like a sore thumb. Imagine wearing white boots on the mud of Blacksnape.
  23. Paper Lace - Billy, Don't Be a Hero
  24. Ha ha absolutely mate. Many years ago I was playing for Darwen Olympic up at Blacksnape. I was just a cocky kid who thought I was invincible really and it was against Conver Foam, who had the likes of Ged Puzon, Martin Atherton, Steve Eggleston and Billy Preston playing for them, so no mugs. Their centre half had on a pair of those white Alan Ball boots that were all the rage at one time. As we lined up I pointed at his boots and said "You'd better be a fooking good 'un mate wearing those fooking things!" Needless to say he wasn't the bravest I've ever faced after that!
